DDP When Booking Restaurant That Requires Advance Payment?

Curious how this works as it has been years since we've used DDP and we've never booked a place with advance payment.

I am planning to book Hoop Dee Doo next year when we stay on the FD Bounceback. That place, as well as CRT and other, require advance payment at the time of booking. Is there a way to avoid this since I'll be using credits? I'd really prefer not to tie up $200 on a reservation I won't be "paying" for to begin with.

Also, for anyone who has done Hoop Dee Doo on the DDP, do you get to chose your seating category since there's price differences?

Thanks!

When you make your ADR there will be an option to select using your Dining Plan credits rather than prepaying with a credit card. Some have reported not having the option but I have done it often and have always been given that option. As for Hoop Dee Doo Review seating - Using the Dining Plan you can select Category 2 or 3 for the two earlier shows and 1,2, or 3 for the last show.

I've often wondered if the folks who are given the option to prepay using credits have already paid off their vacations, and those who have not already paid off their vacations are required to prepay with credit card? We haven't done the dining plan in year, so it's of no consequence to me, but I do wonder. Would make sense.

That's definitely a thought.... but in my case we hadn't yet paid our balance. We made the reservation at 180 days and we definitely don't pay our balance that early! It is something though that I've noticed people commenting about in the recent past. Our family last did the dining plan in Dec 2015 - so maybe something new? Or it could just be those infamous Disney tech inconsistencies!
