I don't understand the Disney Dining Plan. I understand that you get credits to use at counter, table service restaraunts etc... But what is the "free dining plan?" I assume you pay x amount for a day's worth of meals per person, but where does the free come in? Is there a fee to use the DDP? :confused3

Free dining is part of a package offered by Disney during a limited period of time in late Aug and early Sept.

What is free about it? Do you eat free? :rotfl:

Yes, you do. You get the Disney Dining Plan for free for the guests staying in your room that your purchase at rack rate and purchase the same tickets for each guest as part of the package.

For guests during time other than the limited dates for the Special package, dining costs about $39 per adult per day (guest 10+) and about $12 a day for children (guests 3-9). DVC members can purchase the dining plan for their stay on points.

No wonder that was hard for me to grasp! Eat free???? Or I shouldn't say free, nothing is free, it's "included"

But thank you, that answers my question!!!

It's "free" from the standpoint that during those 4 weeks, guests don't have to pay the $38 adult / $11 child daily fees for the dining plan. The other 48 weeks out of the year folks buying a resort / ticket package have to also pay the add-on price for the dining plan.

There are significant savings to cash guests, but they first need to agree to pay hundreds of dollars for their room and tickets. ;)
