Ok been to Disney about 5 times and have always driven, brought snacks, breakfast, and drinks.

This time I will be on DDP for the week and I am flying. I am trying to decide if I really need to order from Garden Grocer (or whoever) and have some of those items delivered or if the DDP will supply me and my family of 4 (me,DW,DD19,DS7) enough food that I don't need the extra stuff.

For those of you in this situation what have you done and how did it work out.

Thanks for the input.

It could be enough depending on how you eat. We are doing the QSDP this trip for the 6 of us and I'm having wegoshop deliver breakfast items, snack stuff and drinks. I plan on making eggs, bacon, toast each morning and just bringing it along to the parks if the kids aren't hungry for breakfast that early in the morning. And then using the 2 CS credits for lunch and dinner. I did order mostly dry items so that anything leftover could come on the plane with us.

We fly and have always taken a suitcase full of food. Have DD10, DS 6, most recently went for a week in Dec 08. Took suitcase with cups, bowls, spoons, little boxes of cereal, extra cheerios in baggies, fruit cups, orange juice bottles, and lots of other snacks (raisins, nuts,etc.). We bought a gallon of milk there and had a fridge in the room. A bowl of cereal, a fruit cup, and juice was plenty to get us going in the morning. The empty suitcase at the end was great for all our purchases from the trip.

WOW that is a great idea. So they dont open the suitcase and take any of the food out? I know it is just snack, drink and breakfast stuff. We always go to Walmart the first day/night there and get all that stuff plus the most important thing in dh's eyes.....beer.....lol. We are flying SW so baggage (as of right now) is free. Then we dont have to stuff everything into our suitcases on the way home.:thumbsup2

We have ordered water, soda, chips and breakfast food (cereal & donuts). This was we aren't using snack credits in the park for water or soda or have to go down to get a quick snack if we want it.

We've used the regular DDP twice. I always brought snacks and drink mixes (like goldfish, granola bars, pop tarts, crackers, and those single serve crystal light thingys). The first time we were on the DDP, we didn't eat ANY of the snacks I brought from home. I ended up re-packing them all and bringing everything back home. The second time on the DDP, I brought nothing except for what I thought the kids might like on the plane. We had plenty of food. More than plenty, really. We had so many snack credits leftover that we ended up getting snacks to take home with us!

You will have enough food...believe me!

Well after posting this I thought about it...we are on the QSDP. We get there at 11pm and leave at 5pm on our last day. So I will still have the credits from first day (you know what I mean) til midnight. But there are 4 of us and we are there for 14 nights, so we have 84 Adult Credits, 28 Child Credits and 112 Snack Credits. I am thinking I am not going to need to buy snacks for the room.....:rotfl2:

Don't forget about all those desserts from the CS meal that you will be too full to eat. You can bring those back to the room to use for snacks too.

The only thing I might send to the resort is a case of water (and beer if DH wants it.)

Maggie

Maggie, that's right I forgot about the 2 desserts a day too....holy cow we are going to be stuffed:rotfl2: Oh and yes we can't forget the beer for dh, and I guess I can try and squeeze in a case of water:lmao:

We don't take extra snacks but we order 2 cases of water and 2 4 packs of the energy drink DH insists on when we make him get up that early to go to the parks . I think we had to add 1 or 2 other items to meet the $40 minimum delivery fee from Garden Grocer.

We got milk, juice, fruit and water for room and also cereal for the days we used counter service credit for lunch.

Those desserts to take back to the room really add up. We're hardly ever hungry enough to use them at lunch. We usually use the snack ones for water or icecream though.

I cant really remember what the desserst are? Are alot of them prepackage?

My DH thinks that we may need food as well. We are on the DxDP. He is kinda clueless!!:rotfl: I on the other hand am a lot more prepaired!:hippie:

My children are very hearty eaters, and we often brought desserts back. We often didn't even have much appetite for the snack credits...more often used for cool drinks or frozen treats just to cool us down. Now, this was when appetizers were offered for dinner as well, and we could get 4/dinner---there was WAAAAAAY too much food then!

We brought cereal bars/fiber bars/pop tarts for breakfast. We were in a fridge swap, so grabbed milk w/ snack credits at food court (not sure they still allow this; but you could buy it). My breakfast was either a Zone bar or leftover dessert!:cutie:

Even using QSDP, those meals are large enough to split for most. If you want a hot breakfast, I suggest splitting some meals to get 3 in.

I would love to try DxDDP, but we are so stuffed on DDP, I cannot justify the expense! ($1500 extra for the 7 of us for a week...no, don't think so!)
