DDP Drawback - Be Advised !!!

I don't understand how the OP could not have had enough CS credits, and then ended up with 5 extra CS credits. If you don't have enough, you don't have enough. Where did the extra ones come from?

I'm not quite getting that one either. :confused3

Will we be able to access all of our families dining credits from one card, or will we each have to use our own cards? Which could be annoying considering my kids are all under 6.

All the credits associated with a single vacation package reservation can be accessed from any of the room keys associated with that reservation.

I had 5 CS credits left - you are confusing that with my hypothetical where I'm trying to make the point about if you FOR WHATEVER THE REASON do not have enough credits, the CM could simply charge any uncovered expense to your room key without holding up the line

Now I'm confused?

So at least once, I wound up paying OOP for something I had credits for. I'll bet it's all by design - Disney figures a fair amount of credits will not be used (which falls straight to the bottom line) indeed we wound up with 5 CS units unused.

You didn't pay OOP for something you had credits for?

Okay, so I think I get it.

Basically a drawback to the DDP is that if you don't keep track of your dining credits, something may get missed and you may end up with extra credits.

Sounds about right to me.

well all I can say is weather or not anyone gained or lost there was no reason for rudeness/attitude...and as I read this thread I certainly read/felt a NASTY vibe...chill !!!!!!!!!this board is made to help us all...gee whiz!! :confused3 :guilty: :rolleyes1 :sad2: :surfweb:

We had an issue in regards to credits during our trip last month. When I got home I immediately posted here about keeping the last receipt for each type of service on your body if at all possible. Until the system works the way you are describing (which would be great but we all know hasn't happened) having the last receipt from your last CS in your pocket when ordering your next one is a great way to know for sure if you have credits. It also helped the manager of one of the restaurants get two of our credits back that were taken away incorrectly. When we showed her our last receipt and told her where we had eaten since she realized there was an error and worked until she could fix it.

So, until the flawed system changes, please keep your receipts! No rudeness/attitude intended, just trying to help someone. I personally did not save a single receipt but I am glad my roomate did and we had used her card last or else we would not have had a way to prove our case. Many people don't understand the dining plan and fight for credits they may not really have (when the waiter called whoever they call he was told we didn't have any credits because CRT was two but I knew that and still knew we had credits) but having your receipt is black and white.

Except...

If your order includes adult meals but you accidentally give your kids car instead of your own even if the kid is standing right beside you. This happened to me. Me and my daughter went to the Mara and I accidentally pulled out her card and they refused to let me use it. I dug a little further and used my card and there was no more discussion on the matter. But I would be willing to bet that the charge would have went through just fine had the tried.

Yeah...I actually did that at Garden Grill. Just signed my sons name. Server never said anything. The cards have the credits, doesn't matter who uses them. My thought would have been what if she had been with someone else and wanted to use "her" credits?

Well, I want to say thanks for the "heads up" on the post. I did not know that we could get a print out of where we had used our DDP at, so thanks for that. To the OP, I am sorry that this happened to you. My husband would have done the very same thing, just go ahead and pay for it, to keep the line moving. I used to take the Disney Rewards card in to pay for things, I know I paid $25.00 for a bottle of water, instead of $2.50. When I checked the credits at the next time of usage they were just about gone! What could I do at that point? I decided from then on that I would only use my room key for charges in the park. I check each receit at each meal and each snack to see how many we have left. After the bottle of water inicident, I check receits! That is the best advice I can give. I keep mine in my fanny pack, from the day before. I now pay for my DDP with the Disney Rewards card, after thinking about it, I really don't know why I used it in the park to start with. I like to see a print out of what I buy. Did you get something with the 5 counter services that you had left?

Thanks, KimberH !! I'm the DH - you know exactly how I felt. I wasn't sure how many I had left (I'll keep better track next time) and when the CM at Captain Cooks (it was about 8:30AM - way packed) said in an unnecessarily rude voice "I can't check it before you order" and looked at the line behind me, I said just charge it to the room because I didn't want to take a chance and to hold the line up.(the previous day we had seen two people have a similar issue in the MK at the Main St. Ice Cream Shop) I did not use the credits- but I'll be prepared for next time. Then again, may not use it next time- ate way too much!!!

Wait ... they have separate cards for everyone now - kids and adults? So we have to take 4 cards with us for a family of 4 when we go out to dine on DDP? I always thought they pool all the credits onto one card so we can just take one card.

Everyone has always had their own card since it is the same card for 1) your park tickets 2) your room key 3) your ddp. You can access the room and the ddp from any card (although as I said before some cm's may question use of a kids card to purchase adult meals), but everyone has to have their own to get in the parks.

Oh I mean when doing dining on non-park places. Typically we just take one card along and swipe all meals through that. From the posting sounds like we need to bring all cards and swipe each one separately for DDP credits?

no, as I said, the room and dining are accessible from any card...except i never want to say that without the caution of make sure you are using an adult card just incase the server decides it is wrong to pay with a kids card. The reason 4 cards are issued is that they are needed for the parks...so they then give everyone in the party access to everything on that same card. You only need to give one to pay for dining.

I never had that issue, as we also had two rooms, and the rooms were not tied together, as I later found out you can have done.

I did each day have GS (front desk) print off our balance, and it was nice to have each morning!
