I am trying to save up a couple of credits to use later in the week at CRT, which requires 2 TS credits. My DS10 is not a big eater, and earlier in the week we will be eating at Tony's and LeCellier, where he would easily be happy and full if he chose from the kids' menu. We would pay out of pocket for these meals.

Has anyone been successful in doing this? If the servers know that a child is 10, must he choose from the adult menu?

Thanks for the help!!!

What you're suggesting puts the server in a very difficult situation. The server will unquestionably know, if they're paying attention, because the room keys will show 3A (for example) indicating that everyone in the room is over 10 years old. In most cases, they're required to enforce the "for our guests 3 - 9 years old only" legend on the menu.

My suggestion is to be honest. "My son is 10, but would you mind if we paid cash for a child meal for him, instead of using one of his TS credits?" Then accept whichever answer you get, yes or no, being prepared for either answer, and being prepared to adjust your plans later in the week in response to a 'no'. Also, if you get a 'yes', please tip extra, since by allowing you to order a child meal for your DS10, the server is losing out on a bit of gratuity included in the Dining Plan. (The average gratuity on a Dining Plan meal is $4 -- and on a TS child meal, just $1.25.)

I was planning to be honest about his age. I realize that the server will know that he is 10. Even though he is small for his age, we were honest when we booked the package and are paying for his ticket at the adult rate.

One of the restaurants we will be eating at is Tony's, and I know that the kids meal there will be bigger than he can eat because he ate there last year and didn't come close to finishing it. Hopefully he can just order off the kids menu and we will pay for it. I will be happy to leave a large tip -- thank you for letting me know about that.

I haven't heard anything about Tony's specifically, regarding whether portion sizes have changed much over the past year. Sorry.
