We're taking the family to WDW in September for my daughter's 4th birthday. We have another daughter who will be 11 months at the time, so my parents will be with us to watch her while we take our 4 year old to the parks. We'll all be staying in a 2 bedroom villa at BWV (thanks mom and dad!) so there will be plenty for them to do during the day at the resort and they will have the convenience of a full kitchen, w/d, etc. Hubby, daughter and I were going to do the DDP, but found out that my parents would have to do that as well since we're all in the same room. They don't need it though, since they're goin g to basically be babysitting the whole time and won't be doing the parks. Has anyone else had this same problem? Any solutions? Is there a way around this rule? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

I'd suggest sending grandma and grandpa out for a nice signature meal with 4 of the TS credits one night. You are going to want a night in at some point!! They can use the CS credits at Boardwalk Bakery for their lunches. They might like to take the baby out to breakfast with them a time or two at Spoodles or lunch at Big River Grille. They could easily use their DDP credits without leaving the resort area. And an early lunch at the boardwalk bakery and dinner at spoodles could easily run them $125+ for the 2 of them. Or it could be 2 CS credits and 2 TS credits :o) or one day on the dining plan ($78)

Either you guys have to give up the DDP or they get to have the DDP :o) I, personally, love it. And think that grandma and grandpa would probably love to see their granddaughters enjoy breakfast with Chef Mickey! You could all do that together before you headed to the parks for the day. Or you could meet up there for dinner before you watch the fireworks for the night.

I agree with this, it is either all or nothing. Are you saying you will never eat together? Just because mom will have a full kitchen doesn't mean she wants to cook and clean all the time.

Plus you'd need to make time to go to the supermarket, adjust for time cooking in an unfamiliar kitchen, etc. Blah... Not my idea of vacation! Make some ADRs for gm and gp at the boardwalk. They can always cancel them if baby doesn't want to leave the villa! Make some for the whole family to eat together a couple times. You'll make memories! If they aren't buying park tickets, that's ok- there's plenty of stuff to do at the resorts and downtown disney together. If you do a character meal in the parks w/ your 4 yo, you may want to plan to bring the baby along to that as well (have grandparents meet you at the gates to take baby after the meal if you want) so that the baby can be in some of those pictures! She'll love them someday!
