We just returned from our 11/17 to 11/27 trip to WDW and I will do short reviews on LTT, San Angel, Jiko, Boma, Le Chef's, Yachtsman, Le Cellier, Sci Fi, Kona, and a few counter service locations.

As my thread title suggests, we all got the stomach bug, and shortly after my arrival I discovered that according to Disney, all of my ADR's had been cancelled on 7/27 by my travel agent. According to my agent she never cancelled them. In the end it doesn't matter how it happened, but it happened and it wasn't good. 10 days of very full parks and I had no ADR's on the DDP!

Our party consists of me (Mom), lover of food and age 47. I consider myself a discriminating diner and half of the fun of planning this trip was choosing the restaurants. DH is 47 and while not discriminating, has food quirks. He can enjoy fine food but also enjoy's Uncle Ben's microwave dishes so it's hard to say with him. :confused3

DS turned 16 on this trip and considers chicken strips fine dining. This made choosing restaurants on this trip difficult, given that he was an adult on DDP. I'd somewhat hoped that he'd eat chicken strips from the child's menu and I could pay for his meals out of pocket. This only happened once because the boy discovered a new love for filet mignon. Oh well!

DD is 13 and is her mother's daughter. Loves all food, appreciates the finer end of dining and is very easy to take to any restaurant.

We arrived for our 6pm ADR at San Angel on 11/17 and were seated immediately as our ADR was in their system. I had read mixed reviews here on the board and was interested to see how we enjoyed the meal.

We'd been up since 3am and while I don't recall what DH or DD ordered for dinner, they liked their meals fine. DH ordered the corn chowder and it was delicious. I ordered the nachos and they were very good. DD ordered the salad and loved it. We all enjoyed the chips and salsa. DS ordered the kids meal grilled chicken filet with pasta. It came on the Mickey Mouse plate and his embarrassment might have something to do with him never ordering another child's meal during our trip. This resulted in our having one unused TS credit when we left this morning.

Service was fine. The restaurant is very dark but nicely themed and pretty. The waitress looked like she'd rather be anywhere but where she was and given the crowd and the small spaces between the tables I can't say I blame her.

Unfortunately later that night my husband didn't feel well. We assumed he'd eated too much or was just tired but no, that wasn't it. :rolleyes1

We all got to bed by 11pm and by midnight DH was violently ill and was sick all night long. I'd read about a stomach bug that a lot of people get at WDW and figured it was that. First thing the next morning I went to the resort gift shop and got him some Pepto, and then when DD woke up she didn't feel well either. I fixed them up with Pepto and ginger ale and with their blessing, left them at the room while DS and I went to the Magic Kingdom.

Then things took another turn, and it wasn't for the better.

DS and I didn't stay in MK long as it was packed. We went over to Epcot and did a few things and I noticed that DS wasn't himself. He didn't have his usual energy and I thought it was from the long day we'd had the day before. I'd planned for the two of us to go to keep my Ohana ADR but I could tell his heart wasn't in it. I thought he was feeling guilty about leaving DH and DD until I looked at him and he looked awful. His eyes were glassy and he was a shade of gray I'd never seen on him. I asked him if he was feeling okay and he said no, but he'd come to dinner with me to keep me company. That was so sweet I got tears in my eyes, but I told him no, we'd cancel the ADR and go back to the room.

I went to guest relations to cancel the ADR and the nice girl there told me it had already been cancelled. I knew DH hadn't done it so I asked her to check the rest of my ADRs. They'd all been cancelled. 10 days of ADRs made 180 days out, including Thanksgiving dinner at WCC. All gone.

I don't know if you can imagine how that felt. I'd planned this trip for 10 months. I'd carefully chosen my ADRs and planned our whole trip around them. I had two sick people in the room, one failing quickly beside me, I was on the dining plan and I had no ADRs during Thanksgiving week.

I quickly asked the nice girl (Jasmine) in guest relations to check availability for all of the restaurants on the dates I'd originally booked. She got what she could, but some of the dinners would be at 9pm rather than 6pm. DS started feeling so poorly that I told him to grab a bus back to the resort.

Thanksgiving at WCC was totally booked so Jasmine got us into Chefs de France. When she couldn't get anything in the WDW dining system Jasmine called the manager of each restaurant. 1.5 hours and many tears later, I left guest relations and sweet Jasmine with our new itinerary for the week, went over by Test Track and had a beer and tried to come to grips.

Jasmine had managed to get LTT at the time I'd originally booked on Monday, for lunch. DH and DD weren't sure if they should eat but wanted to try. DS never did get really sick, but he hadn't eaten much on Sunday so he didn't get as sick as DH and DD did and managed to sleep the illness off somehow.

LTT was okay, but not as good as I'd remembered. I got the crab cake and pot roast dinner and it was fine. DD and DH had the turkey dinner and salads and they said it was good but they couldn't eat much due to the illness. DS had a burger and didn't care for it much but he still wasn't feeling great either. I was thanking my lucky stars that I'd managed to avoid this great plague.

On Tuesday we had dinner at Jiko. I was worried as the menu is a bit different than what my family is accustomed to, but I figured the kids could get a kids meal and I'd bank the TS credits. They decided on filet mignon (sans wine sauce), as did I and it was wonderful. They even ate the macaroni and cheese which surprised me. I ordered the Taste of Africa and it was amazing. We had the cheese plate, which was great, and DH and DD again had salads. This was the best meal of our trip, though it was at 9pm. Service was outstanding and the restaurant is beautiful. DH and the kids are still talking about this meal.

I had the sorbet and I don't know what anyone else had for dessert as I'm not really into sweets. It became clear at this point that the DDP allows for way too much food, and we're not light eaters. I don't think any of us would have ordered dessert if it hadn't already been paid for. This became a common issue during the rest of the trip.

More to come tomorrow after I unpack 200 pounds of luggage and get some sleep. I will tell you now that in the end, I didn't avoid the stomach plague and I had the most embarassing moment of my life at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. My daughter is scarred for life over this one. :guilty:

I am so sad for you but it sounds like you were able to salvage quite a bit. The stomach bug on vacation is a nightmare.

So sorry to hear about your troubles on the trip but lloking forward to the rest of the reviews and how tings worked out!

Sounds like we had very similar trips. We were at DW last week also celebrating my DD's 16th birthday, my 12 year old DD also got the stomach bug Sat. night. It was awful, she threw up all over her bed and the floor. I am so sorry you had to go through this too. We also had our Thanksgiving Day ADR "mysteriously" cancelled by who knows but we also managed to enjoy ourselves. Know you were not alone! Looking forward to hearing more about your trip! BTW, when was your son's bday?

Momof3, my son's birthday was yesterday; when was your daughter's? I look forward to reading your trip report tomorrow when I can give it some time for a good read. Where was your Thanksgiving reservation?

I'm so sorry your daughter got sick too! I can tell you I haven't had such a violent stomach bug in over 10 years. It's been 5 days and I haven't fully recovered. Actually none of us have fully recovered and our stomachs are still rather delicate. We washed hands faithfully, used antibacterial spray on our hands before eating, etc. and in the end it didn't matter.

Also, my DH was at the resort gift shop this morning (CBR) and overheard another woman saying that all of her ADRs had been cancelled for her stay, as well. I'd read of that happening here on the boards before which is why I had the rest of my reservations checked when I found that Ohana was cancelled. Jasmine at Guest Relations said she'd never heard of that happening before.

Thanks everyone, for your sympathy for our situation. In the end it wasn't the end of the world but the events did throw a real wrench into the trip. If nothing else, maybe my story will compel people to confirm, confirm, confirm.

I have friends who just returned from Disney. The adults got sick with stomach issues, but the kids did not. They had assumed food poisoning since they had eaten the same thing for lunch and got sick a couple hours later, but maybe it was a virus.

Last year my daughter's boyfriend got the bug the day before they were to fly home so the flight home was not the best.

Looking forward to reading more about your trip.

I'm so sorry! Sounds like you were able to make the most of the lost ADR issue at least (with Jasmine's help). But they probably should have given you your preferred times back since it was not your mistake. I'm so sorry you were sick also. That stinks. I've had a family member sick in WDW and it is not fun. None of the alternatives are good - they come along anyway and feel bad (yuck), you stay in the room with them restless and wanting to go out and enjoy WDW (not fun), you go out without them and feel guilty (also not fun). I feel for you.

Great report so far though, looking forward to the rest.

I'm so sorry! I can tell you I would have freaked if I found out all my carefully planned ADRs were cancelled, especially during a holiday week! Thank goodness Jasmine was able to salvage some meals for you. It's just awful to be sick on vacation. The stomach bug thing happened to a friend of mine on a trip our families took together last year. She got very ill the night before we came home, so getting on a plane was not a pleasant time for her!

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your reviews, and I hope you're all feeling back to normal soon!:goodvibes

Mommanne, my DD's birthday was on the 21st. They are only a few days apart. Did you son enjoy his bday at Disney? I'm sorry he got sick too. At least my DD didn't get the flu from her sister. Hope he had a great 16th bday in spite of everything!:bday:

Oh my, cancelled ADR's and a Terrible stomach bug!! I am so sorry, but you seem to have a great attitude about it! I know you just got back, but have you/will you follow-up with your TA about how he/she supposedly cancelled all the ADR's? I can't imagine anyone doing that, how would they all disappear? I have to tell you, DS and I are both very prone to stomach viruses. DH and DD get the colds, bronchitis, etc., we get the yucks! I was so nervous we'd get something before/at Disney. Especially DS, when he gets one, it's never 24 hours, always a couple days, would've ruined almost the entire trip. Happily, we did not get sick at all, for which I am eternally thankful!

Momof3, happy birthday to your DD! My son did enjoy his trip thanks, and I hope your family did as well.

I really didn't have a good attitude about what happened and still don't. At that point there was nothing I could do but roll with it. Disney said the agent did it, the agent denied it, and screaming and crying wouldn't help so I had to deal with it. I was stressed out all week, and called WDW Dining often to see if there had been cancellations. I tried to put a good face on it all for the sake of my family, but my happy, stress-free vacation was not to be. All of us getting sick was bad enough; this made everything that much worse.

I can tell you it pretty much ruined our trip. I had planned early dinners so that we could use the pool and then get to bed early some nights to make early entry on some days or at least get to each park at opening on one day so we could use fastpass to ride the most popular rides. In the end I had to choose between seeing fireworks or eating a TS I'd already paid for. This meant we got to bed at midnight and then had to get the kids up early to make those crucial rides. My carefully planned trip was out the window and I constantly had to re-figure park strategy. We didn't get to do a lot of the things I'd hoped to do and I had very tired, grumpy teenagers on some days. In the end I had to let them sleep in on a few days and dealt with park that were jam-packed.

I have asked the agent to find out what happened. I need an explanation. I would think she'd be interested to know too. If I had that happen to one of my clients I'd be horrified and want to get to the bottom of it. So far I haven't heard anything. I will be following up.

I'm considering getting AP's using what I paid for my MYW tickets and I have until Friday to make the decision. My trip wasn't very magical so depending on how this is handled, I may or may not do it. I really want to have that happy vacation that I'd planned for so long but don't know if I want to chance it again. It's not a cheap vacation!

On Wednesday it was back to AKL for dinner at Boma. Luckily we were able to get an ADR for 6pm. This was due to the kind manager of the restaurant who heard our plight and squeezed us in.

We'd been here before and it was very good. I sampled everything but the things that really stand out in memory were the mashed sweet potatoes and the carrot soup was delicious. I had a glowtini which I enjoyed. I found the prime rib a bit dry. I wasn't eating much at this point because I was afraid the stomach bug was on the menu for me and I didn't want to make it worse with an overfull stomach. I didn't have any dessert but the kids had cookies and liked them. DH was still delicate and didn't eat much either. Service was fine.

Thanksgiving dinner was at Le Chef's. I had onion soup and a burger, which were fine. DH and DS had the burger, DD had roasted chicken which she loved. The onion soup was very good and we had the cheese plate which was very good. Service was outstanding despite the restaurant being packed. I know we were in France but I was surprised that there wasn't any American Thanksgiving fare on the menu. I had sorbet for dessert which was nice.

Friday night was 9:00 at Yachtsman Steakhouse. We'd eaten there on our last trip and it was the reservation I was looking forward to the most. We'd spent the afternoon at MGM and there was a problem with the boat service; it took 45 minutes for us to get on the boat due to the crowd and some problem with a ferry. It was very chilly and I was tired but there was no way I was missing this dinner.

When we finally got to the hotel I changed into a nice velour outfit in the ladies room and waited in the bar for our table. I wasn't feeling well but figured I was just tired and cold and that once I warmed up and ate something I'd be fine. I ordered a glowtini and it wasn't going down well so I just skipped it. We got seated and the rolls and butter with garlic came. I ate half a roll and didn't enjoy it so decided to save myself for dinner. My scallop appetizer came and I took one bite and couldn't eat it. As we were waiting for dinner the smell of food started to put me off so I decided that I wouldn't eat my meal.

We got our food and I took one bite. That was all I could take. I just sat there while my family ate and raved about their meals. I was sad but it wasn't the end of the world. The waiter asked why I wasn't eating and I explained that I wasn't well and asked that he call a taxi and box up the families' desserts. That was fine until....well........it wasn't fine anymore.

I had to throw up. Now. There was no warning, no nausea, nothing. Everything in my stomach was all coming up and it was coming up right now. We were almost all the way in the back of the restaurant. I put my hand to my mouth and started away from the table and my family needed no explanation. I tried to be as unobtrusive as possible but halfway across the restaurant I had to put my hand over my mouth to hold it in. I'd just gotten past the hostess stand and my hands couldn't contain it. I couldn't take my hands away to open the door but luckily someone exited the ladies room and I dashed in only to find the stalls occupied. I did the only thing I could do and vomited into the sink. This went on for a good 5 minutes and I didn't dare lift my head as I was practically convulsing.

As if this wasn't embarassing enough, I heard a woman say in disgust "well I have never, in my life!!!". I was beyond speaking at the moment, but another guest did point out that I was sick.

When I finally looked up my DD was there and a woman waiting for a stall let me go before her. I thanked her but by then the event was over. I stayed in the stall to make sure I was finished and came out to find my poor DD trying to clean the sink but it was clogged. There was a cleaning woman there and we apologized but I don't know if she understood me. She wouldn't look at me. Luckily there are cloth face towels in that ladies room and I was able to clean the vomit that was all over my chest, stomach and legs.

The taxi was waiting for us outside so we hopped in and went back to our room. I cleaned up, went to bed and stayed there for 18 hours, trying to sleep between chills, sweats and dry heaves. I thought it was very sweet of my DD to not only stay there while her mother did the most embarrassing thing possible in not only a public place, but a NICE public place. I do believe I've scarred her for life, however.

So if you were in the ladies room by the Yachtsman Steakhouse and you were subjected to a woman vomiting in the sink, please let me apologize. It wasn't my first choice of things to do that evening. :sad1:

You poor thing! It's such a terrible feeling when you know you're going to be sick and you're not close enough to the bathroom. Shame on that woman who made the comment in the ladies room!:headache: Your DD sounds like a real sweetheart to stay and help out her mom.

I hope things look up for you from here! You certainly had a rough start to your trip.

I'm so sorry to hear you all got sick. Practically the same thing happened to me at LeCellier, although I was able to make it to a stall, but darting through the very crowded restaurant, not knowing if I was going to make it was horrible. I never got to eat my meal and had to leave my family behind and go back to the room. It took about 3 days to really feel like I was back on my feet - not what I had in mind when I planned the trip. I've been to WDW twice and have gotten a bug twice, despite being very cautious about handwashing and Purell etc. I hope you were all able to bring back some good memories and hopefully next trip will be better!

That is horrible.. I hope you had good time besides the sickness and the missing ADR's..
