On Wednesday it was back to AKL for dinner at Boma. Luckily we were able to get an ADR for 6pm. This was due to the kind manager of the restaurant who heard our plight and squeezed us in.
We'd been here before and it was very good. I sampled everything but the things that really stand out in memory were the mashed sweet potatoes and the carrot soup was delicious. I had a glowtini which I enjoyed. I found the prime rib a bit dry. I wasn't eating much at this point because I was afraid the stomach bug was on the menu for me and I didn't want to make it worse with an overfull stomach. I didn't have any dessert but the kids had cookies and liked them. DH was still delicate and didn't eat much either. Service was fine.
Thanksgiving dinner was at Le Chef's. I had onion soup and a burger, which were fine. DH and DS had the burger, DD had roasted chicken which she loved. The onion soup was very good and we had the cheese plate which was very good. Service was outstanding despite the restaurant being packed. I know we were in France but I was surprised that there wasn't any American Thanksgiving fare on the menu. I had sorbet for dessert which was nice.
Friday night was 9:00 at Yachtsman Steakhouse. We'd eaten there on our last trip and it was the reservation I was looking forward to the most. We'd spent the afternoon at MGM and there was a problem with the boat service; it took 45 minutes for us to get on the boat due to the crowd and some problem with a ferry. It was very chilly and I was tired but there was no way I was missing this dinner.
When we finally got to the hotel I changed into a nice velour outfit in the ladies room and waited in the bar for our table. I wasn't feeling well but figured I was just tired and cold and that once I warmed up and ate something I'd be fine. I ordered a glowtini and it wasn't going down well so I just skipped it. We got seated and the rolls and butter with garlic came. I ate half a roll and didn't enjoy it so decided to save myself for dinner. My scallop appetizer came and I took one bite and couldn't eat it. As we were waiting for dinner the smell of food started to put me off so I decided that I wouldn't eat my meal.
We got our food and I took one bite. That was all I could take. I just sat there while my family ate and raved about their meals. I was sad but it wasn't the end of the world. The waiter asked why I wasn't eating and I explained that I wasn't well and asked that he call a taxi and box up the families' desserts. That was fine until....well........it wasn't fine anymore.
I had to throw up. Now. There was no warning, no nausea, nothing. Everything in my stomach was all coming up and it was coming up right now. We were almost all the way in the back of the restaurant. I put my hand to my mouth and started away from the table and my family needed no explanation. I tried to be as unobtrusive as possible but halfway across the restaurant I had to put my hand over my mouth to hold it in. I'd just gotten past the hostess stand and my hands couldn't contain it. I couldn't take my hands away to open the door but luckily someone exited the ladies room and I dashed in only to find the stalls occupied. I did the only thing I could do and vomited into the sink. This went on for a good 5 minutes and I didn't dare lift my head as I was practically convulsing.
As if this wasn't embarassing enough, I heard a woman say in disgust "well I have never, in my life!!!". I was beyond speaking at the moment, but another guest did point out that I was sick.
When I finally looked up my DD was there and a woman waiting for a stall let me go before her. I thanked her but by then the event was over. I stayed in the stall to make sure I was finished and came out to find my poor DD trying to clean the sink but it was clogged. There was a cleaning woman there and we apologized but I don't know if she understood me. She wouldn't look at me. Luckily there are cloth face towels in that ladies room and I was able to clean the vomit that was all over my chest, stomach and legs.
The taxi was waiting for us outside so we hopped in and went back to our room. I cleaned up, went to bed and stayed there for 18 hours, trying to sleep between chills, sweats and dry heaves. I thought it was very sweet of my DD to not only stay there while her mother did the most embarrassing thing possible in not only a public place, but a NICE public place. I do believe I've scarred her for life, however.
So if you were in the ladies room by the Yachtsman Steakhouse and you were subjected to a woman vomiting in the sink, please let me apologize. It wasn't my first choice of things to do that evening.
