DDE Price Increase

I was wondering if and when the prices would go up. I got my card with my AP back in May, so that's when it expires. But I was planning on getting a new one for my trip in Oct....I don't think an increase for AP holders of $10 is a big deal. While I had two cards, we never used my dh's. I think they have started charging for the extra card because there were people that did get a card in a friends name...but not someone who lived at the same household. I don't think Disney is letting us cut corners on so much anymore.

Nope, it is a friend in a different household - and they have both of our names, both of our addresses, they do know we don't live in the same house.

If I didn't split it with him, I'm have to rethink having it at all (though it might still be slightly worth it, I wouldn't get my husband a card).

Oh - and I've been a member of the DDE for 8 or so years...shared it with ex-H for most years, and then for the past two years my friend and I went into it (since his brother doesn't join him as often anymore, and I wasn't married at the time). I've never seen the rules in writing that I can remember, we did ask if we could share the card and they said yes.

You know, that is amazing. Perhaps the rules are different for FL residents? I did just order our new DDE cards and was asked if I wanted a second card for "a spouse or domestic partner." Are your cards mailed to each seperate address? I gather so since you say WDW has both addresses.

They were both mailed to his address, but we gave them both sets of information (names, addresses, whatever they now request). And who knows, maybe they won't allow us to renew together in June - Disney makes changes to how they do things all the time. Or we maybe had someone who didn't care one way or the other to take the information.

It's just like - when I called ticket services to ask if I could use the one day ticket on the free dining package to renew my AP, I was told no (though it is possible, I've seen it done since), but was told to give the ticket to someone else. Of course, that is against Disney policy. That type of thing happens often. Get a different CM, get a different answer.

A question on getting a new card upon expiration, does Disney send a reminder to order a new card or are you on your own to contact DDE?

Usually a reminder has been sent, though we didn't get one last year. I know I haven't seen any real correspondence from them in quite some time (they used to send out a newsletter every so often). Definitely contact them if you haven't heard from them 6 weeks or so prior to your renewal.

Just renewed with the 2005 rules for 2006, we have APs so it was $50 for another year with a complimentary 2nd card. Otherwise the DDE would have cost us $85 ($60 for AP membership + $25 for my DH's 2nd card). I like having the second card(can you say sometimes one of us misplaces things boys & girls?), but if the 2007 DDE membership is still charging extra for a second one, forget it. We'll just get the one card - $25 extra for the second card isn't worth it to me.

When we initially purchased a DDE membership, they 'gave' us an extra month because the cards took *forever* to get here, so all I'm really giving up is that 'free' month. Our expiration date was February, now it's January 2007. Worth it to me to lock in the DDE at present rate.

I think I'll do it now also. Our two trips next year are in June and Oct so it really doesn't matter if I loose the month by getting my "renewal" in January instead of Feburary.
