I always have done the DDE, and have been happy with the results and savings. My party we do a couple of what was called 2TS sittings also. (also do 2/3 trips with the DDE card)

Please vote for which you prefer, and write opinions

Thanks!

Other -- offsite and pay OOP for one character meal per trip.

Either DDP or DDE will be an excellent choice for many families, but not for us. We're looking forward to exploring the offsite options, now that DDP no longer offers any benefit for us. We won't be eating onsite enough to make DDE worthwhile unless we have some sort of mega-family convergence at WDW.

I had planned to purchase the DDE card, until the 18% service charge was instituted. I sat down and added up our probable dining costs. The math won out. I will save approximately 30% over OOP with the DxDP. I may not have eaten as much food with the DDE, but this is my way of protesting. I have always said this isn't about the money....it's about the almost across the board service charge for 2008.

I will be using DDP for the last time this month. After that it will be DDE exclusively.

I am considering a New Years trip in a couple of years. If that happens, and the DDP is still around, I might consider it for that trip to avoid holiday charges and the two DDE blackout dates.

Normally, I would go with neither---we average well under one TS per day (which is really required for DDP), and we are a once-a-year visitors (which means DDE never pays off.)

This year, though, we have both a mega-family convergence (I have 'Ohana booked for 12), and the Mrs. and I are going to take an "extra" trip. But, I prefer the flexibility of DDE to DDP. It's just a better fit for us.

Please keep responses coming, I plan on making 2 trips next yr, maybe a 4 day weekend, and will get a third trip before AP and if I get the DDE card again before they expire.

I have always used the DDE card, and make wise of my trips, and have always found the DDE card to save more, with our eating ways. I personaly find the DDP to be too much food.

We have DDE. I've never done DDP, and with the changes in 2008, I doubt I ever will - it just doesn't seem like a bargain to me. DDP has more food than we'll eat, as we typically split CS meals and never get dessert. Also, we prefer the flexibility of not having a lot of TS ADR's. My kids are grazers who eat more drinks and snacks than are on the plan, so it wouldn't be all inclusive for us. Also, some of us have APs and we stay at Fort Wilderness campground and don't do a hotel/ticket package, so we wouldn't be able to get DDP anyway. We definitely save money on DDE; it's more than paid for itself already this year and we still have another week-long trip planned. And we didn't have to overeat to get our money's worth!!
