Yeah :cool1: my DDE card has arrived for my trip in 2 weeks. But...it doesn't have an expiry date on it like my last one did. I called and asked about it, and it is an error, they were surprised it got sent out like that. They said not to worry about it, the restaurants will still honour it, but I am a little worried that they will not :confused3 How would they know if it had expired? They said they would send me out a new one, but of course I am worried it may not arrive in time for my trip. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, did you have a problem using it?

They barely look at it. I wouldn't worry. I used my expired one for 6 months without realizing it had been the wrong one!! I think I threw the new one away. My son noticed the date was wrong.
Just tell them you are a platinum member and no expiration date is needed. lol
Maybe they can send you an email confrmation if it would make you feel better.

Thanks CPM, I would love to be a platinum member LOL :goodvibes
I have found in the past that they do look at the card though? On numerous occasions they took it from me so they could get the transaction authorized by a manager, so I just assumed that they of course would check the expiry on it? Hopefully they'll send a new card ASAP and I'll have it for my trip :)

wow, I just got mine and it had the expiration date. I wonder how many others got through. Since it has a scan strip, I'm sure that once the CM scans it, it will work and if it had expired, then it wouldn't work. When using mine at Pop recently, they ran it through the scanner. Good luck!

Has anyone had to use the temporary card that they issue at epcot when you vacation before the plastic card arrives in the mail. What does the temporary card look like and do they give you a hard time using the temp card.

Thanks n2mm :) I wondered if they scanned the card at all. If so, I should be okay, they assured me the date was in the system right, my card won't expire until Oct31/07.

Goodfellas-I haven't ever used a temporary card, but I think from what I've read here on the dis is that what you can pick up at epcot, if you aren't going to receive your card in time for your trip, is actually a letter that you show instead. I haven't heard of anyone having trouble using it. Maybe someone else can confirm this?

Would also like to know about how to get a temp card before you r perm one arrives? Also, I just read on the Disney Passholder website that the card includes not only the 20% at selected places but also includes "parking" for dining purposes at the hotels as well as the parks? Could you use your DDE card to get free parking? If you are eating at one of the places listed in the parks? HUM...CURIOUS...does anybody know about this?

The temporary card is like a printed paper business card and comes with a letter which lists the places you can use the card. I had no problems using it at all. It has your name and membership number handwritten on it.

According to the paperwork (I just received my renewal card), you can park at the parks for free for dining purposes only. You first pay at the parking kiosk and get a receipt, then the restraurant is suppose to reimburse you for the parking fee. I guess this is the way Disney will make sure you are only going into the park to dine only, not playing.

As for getting your card on time, it only took me 2 weeks to get my card. I called the afternoon of Friday Sept. 8th and got my card in the mail on Saturday September 23rd. It was really fast, and it had Oct 2007 as my expiration dates as I had hoped for.

With regards to using the DDE card is it best to present it right away before ordering? If I forget and wait till the check is presented will they still adjust?

I usually remember to mention to the server at the beginning of the meal that I have the card, but they will not take it until the end of your meal. Usually they have to take the card to a manager to approve then they adjust your bill. I have had places bring my bill before taking the card, it has never been a problem, they just take it back and make the adjustment. :) The DDE card was very easy to use.

The only two places that give me a hard time about using that card is the Outter Rim lounge and the Bellvue lounge. The bartendars always give me eye rolls and I'm tired of it.
They give me a big song and dance on how they have to go downstairs to get a manager and get approval @@.
That guy Tim at the Bellvue manages to get me mad every time. I'm sorry that is the policy, but I have every right to use that card.
BTW, I think they should have a cocktail waitress on in that lounge, he's always weeded.

Wow! Has anyone else been given a hard time for using the DDE card???

I ordered my card by phone on Monday, Sept. 11th and I'm flying to Orlando Tuesday, Oct. 10th - so I hope it arrives this week. I just realized that Monday, Oct. 9th is when Columbus Day is observed, so there probably won't be mail delivered that day.

Are you guys talking about the Disney Dining card? We bought the dining plan with our hotel/park tickets, etc. and I haven't received anything in the mail about dining. Just my travel vouchers and my MNSSHP cards. Now I'm worried.Do I get them at check-in? Please advise, I leave Sturday morning. :cool1: Thanks!

A DDE card and the Disney Dining Plan are two very different things. All of your dining credits will be on your room key as well as your park tickets. HTH :)

Last week, I went to WDW with DS and BiL, as DW was working. {yes, I know it's mean} And to top it off, I had her DDE card with me. Since they changed the rules and now charge $25 for a second card, I no longer have my own. Anyway, BiL used his credit card, but I used DWs DDE card at 3 different restaurants, and we were never questioned about any aspect of our purchase. Go figure......

My DDE card arrived expired and when I called to tell them, they sent another out immediately and said if it didn't arrive before the trip I could call and pick one up the letter to use at EPCOT guest services. I certainly hope restaurants are not accepting expired DDE cards.

I've got a question re: expiration date.

I got my first DDE card last year, and it expires November 30, 2006. Of course THIS year, our trip is in December. I'd like to renew, but I'm wondering...

...if I call up before our trip to renew, will it expire at the end of the month when I purchase it? (Like, if I order it in October, will it be good through October of 2007? Or November?) Or can I explain that it will be for our December trip and try to get it valid through December of NEXT year (since we may be planning for a December 2007 trip as well, and I like to get my money's worth)? :confused3

Last year I picked up the letter for a temporary card, but I'd prefer not to do that this year because our December trip is very short and MK focused for the first few days. If that's the only way to get a Dec. expiration date for next year, we'll have to make the trek to the front gates of Epcot, but if I can avoid that, I'd like to.

TIA!!
