DDE and AP Voucher I'm confused

I did a search for past threads and got even more confused.

I have an AP voucher that I bought at the Disney store almost a year ago and have not yet used. Can I use it to order the DDE card? Some of the posts said yes; some said no.

Next question. Do I have to show my activated AP at the restaurants to use the DDE? Again there is a disagreement amongst posters.

Last question. I am leaving in less than a month. I have read that they are behind in sending out the cards. Can I use any confirmation they send me instead or can I get it delivered to my hotel?

Yes, you absolutely can order the DDE card with an AP voucher. I did so about two weeks ago. They will send an email confirmation for use prior to receiving the actual cards.

If you don't get your DDE card in time for your trip they will email or fax you a "member in good standing" letter that works fine. The cards actually take about 6-8 weeks to arrive. I used the letter with no questions asked in February and was never asked for my actual AP. Oh, yeah, about getting the letter at the hotel, I had a "blonde moment" as we refer to them in our house and cleaned out my wallet before our Feb trip to make it easier to carry. Yep, left the letter at home! Called and got connected to DDE on my cell phone while driving the FL turnpike, Rosa was a doll, faxed a copy to the Yacht CLub desk for me. Well, when I checked the letter it was for the wrong family, I called back and she actually sent the letter to the restaurant we were dining at! This all took place after their official hours too! I'm very pleased with the DDE card, it's already paid for itself in one trip.

Thank you. I will discuss it with my DH and try ordering one tomorrow. This is a short trip, but I'm planning at least two more this year so it should pay for itself by then.

Actually, one meal at the Flying Fish and it will pay for itself.

Just got back from our spring break trip on Saturday and had purchased AP's for the first time. Ordered a DDE card using the voucher letter about two weeks before we left and used the confirmation letter for six (kinda... read below) meals without a question.

For our first meal of the trip, breakfast at Chef Mickey's, I forgot to bring a copy of my confirmation leter. I explained to the cm my delima and she referred me to the manager who went ahead and gave me the 20%.

There is four of us (one eats from childs menu) and we ate at the following during this trip:
Breakfast at Chef Mickey's
Lunch at:
Sci-Fi at MGM
Crystal Palace at MK
Dinner at:
Liberty Tree Tavern at MK
Teppenyaki at EP
Alfredo's at EP

I made the cost of the card back plus about 21 bucks. Well worth it.

Bring extra copies of your letter, I left my original in the bill folder at Boma. Luckily I had an extra in my bag in the room and realized it before our next meal.
