DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Yup, Retired in March of 2021. Sold it all and moved to Florida. I made retirement a year before I got board to tears and drove my wife nuts. Believe it or not but you can only go to the parks so long without it getting old. Feb. 2022 I applied at the monorail. I got the job and by the time I got through all the interviews etc. they didn’t have a part time position available. I was wait listed. So I transferred over to Skyliner. Ive been there almost a year now and I love it!
I love working for the company, I waited 50 years to make a dream come true and I’m sure not getting any younger. It kind of kills some of the magic but I’m having the time of my life. I work Sunday,Monday and Tuesday and I work closing shifts. For the most part I work with the college kids and it’s riot, they love making fun of the old man. Lol We are getting a new round of kids in two weeks, the last round just left and I miss those kids like crazy.
Only regret I have is I didn’t do this earlier in life.
That's really awesome. I'm glad it worked out so well and that you're living the dream!

OK what did you do with Zerf?

There are no Zerfonics in this post at all! ;)
:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Hahahahahahahah. Do you know what I can spell, retired at 55, 650k house on a golf course (paid for) in Florida and working for the mouse for something to do.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
I do believe the most concise spelling of that particular word would be...

W - I - N

Happy Monday all.

Bit of a snowy day here, supposed to get about 4 inches but that is on the ground now and it is still snowing.

Cowboys lost and now I don't really like anyone left. Guess I'll have to throw some support behind a couple of DisDads and cheer for the Eagles.

Have a great Monday all.

Who are you? Darcy, I think your account has been hacked. Change your password.

I thought it was dlorbiday
Reminds me of that old Police Squad episode where the boxer is knocked out on his feet. The ref says, "How many fingers am I holding up?" and the boxer says, "Thursday."

I'm a Colts fan and they're currently a steaming pile of you know what. But that said, my baseball team is the Reds and I live about 1/3 of the way between Indianapolis and Cincinnati so I'm going all in on the Bengals. Love seeing that franchise finally enjoy some success and I love the way that team plays on both sides of the ball.

Image of Billy Bob, the man's holding up some fingers, true or false?

Well, the franchises that I follow are pretty consistent at mediocrity (at best), so anyone that I chose to endorse is likely not to get much farther. Any suggestions from the group as to who's left that needs that kind of support? ;)

I was stunned at how far the Colts fell this year. Felt bad for Frank Reich--I was pulling for him since he was a key part of the Eagles' Super Bowl run.

There was a guy on Twitter (I think) who was doing impersonations of Jim Irsay making decisions on the coaching staff. Not sure if you saw him, but he was hysterical.

That took me completely by surprise. I figured the Eagles were at the very bottom of the list for you. Anyway, welcome aboard the bandwagon! :rotfl2:

I was really surprised that Matt Rhule bombed in Carolina. Coming out of college I thought he was going to be a good one. Shows what I know.

I don't know that I've seen that, but I can only imagine...

I listen to the Pat McAfee show fairly often. Being that he's a former Colt, a Colts fan, has a suite at the stadium and is somewhat close with Jim Irsay and some of the people who still work for the organization, his takes are interesting, at times. But I think he's pretty spot on when he says it's a culture thing. You can't have that many good players that all of a sudden suck. He's also been very critical about Irsay and Ballard not going out to get weapons on offense the past 2 offseasons when they had cap space to do it and there were guys available that could have been impact players. They have a good RB, but have young WR's and while there have been a lot of rookie/2nd year #1 WRs in this league going off, Pittman is maybe a fringe #1, and Pierce, the first round pick last draft, was inconsistent at best. They don't have that one guy that the defense really needs to key on. And then I think about every Colts fan was grabbing the pitchforks and torches when they found out that the Colts didn't get T.Y. Hilton and let him sign with Dallas.

Anyway, I do really feel like the team isn't terrible. There were a lot of injuries this year, especially at RB and on the defensive side. I think if they hire the right coach that can fix the culture/lack of leadership problem in the locker room and find the right QB (and maybe a playmaker WR) they can get back in the mix quickly. But it's going to take a really good hire, draft and offseason. And the track record the past 2-3 years in those areas has been sketchy.

Jim Irsay hiring Jeff Saturday

I'm wondering if they'll steal Shane Steichen from the Eagles like the Eagles took Sirianni from you guys. Turnabout's fair play, I guess. What baffled me this season was how the Colts' OL could fall so far off.

The general consensus in my family is that coming directly out of college likely was the actual handicap. Dealing with a very different set of personalities and expectation from both players and staff. Once they make it into the more rarified realm of the NFL, players in particular seem to responded better to "guidance" over "leadership". They "know" they're "good", so "coaching" tends to lead to bouts of - shall we say - disharmony. I think Matt will be better off elsewhere, but we'll see.
