DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning gents.
Not sure what the day has in store yet... and I'm okay with that.

Went to post a response yesterday but my computer froze, and remained frozen, for over 10 minutes while I made breakfast, so after that 10 mins I had to do a hard shutdown.
Hate when that happens. It's "hold your breath" time until it reboots.
Had a great day yesterday. It started off when I got to meet my favorite author, Bernard Cornwell.
Nice!
I'm not familiar with him, but cool you met him.
That's like a heat wave. Head out in shorts and a t-shirt kind of weather.
Almost. :)
Several years ago, right before I got married, and still living near Boston, we had a January that was below 0 for most of the month, and I'm talking -15 for most of the month. When it finally reached 32 degrees everyone was out in shorts and short sleeves. It felt great.
I think that's a bit cool to be wandering around in shorts and tees... but 50? Yeah, for sure.
That is a weird ending, isn't it?
Too weird. Ruined it for me.

Morning All, welcome to Superbowl Sunday.

Not sure what this game will be like but so far this playoff has produced some of the best playoff games that I can remember. I hope that trend continues.

After a week of snow, we had a couple of warm days but now is cooled off again. Should make for some icy snow conditions.

Hope you all have a good Sunday. Dan's got meat on the smoker if anyone can get over there. ;)

Had a great day yesterday. It started off when I got to meet my favorite author, Bernard Cornwell. He lives here on the Cape, but further down Cape so never a chance to really meet him. I started the day as I usually do and stopped at a Dunkin' Donuts to get my morning tea. People are coming and going and someone comes in the door and stands behind me. I do a quick turn and there he was. I instantly recognized him and introduced myself, hoping I wasn't being a complete nerd. Told him I love his writing, especially the Sharpe Series. That's when he told me that he was writing another Sharpe book, I almost lost it at that point, but held it in. I have to admit that when I got to my car I had to take a moment to compose myself before I drove off. I've met other celebrities and have not had this kind of reaction. And before anyone asked, no I didn't get an autograph or a picture. I should have, but that's not my style. I regret it now, but man that was an awesome moment.

That's pretty cool, I thought he lived in the UK. I always found his books to be a tough read but I love the stories. Have you watched The Last Kingdom? It's based on his Saxon Chronicles series and a pretty good watch.

<facepalm> I totally forgot that was today.
Hmmm... I wonder if I can watch it? I do have some live streaming channels...

That would be a plus. Nothing worse than when it's 35-0 at half-time.

OMG! Dan! Get your meat off the smoker! I'm sure you don't really use it anymore, but still! That's not what you want to do!

Morning, fellas, from a snow covered Cape Cod. It snowed just enough last night to give us about 3" of snow, so not bad. Off to pediatrics today

Morning gents.

Sometimes it's nice to be surprised.

Hate when that happens. It's "hold your breath" time until it reboots.

I was so mad. I think my computer did that like one other time. I then spent the weekend trying to update all that I could, and plan on getting more ram, so hopefully that'll help.

Nice!

He writes historical fiction, which I like. So awesome that I got to meet him.

:thumbsup2

I wore shorts out just to say I did it, but it wasn't an all day thing.

Too weird. Ruined it for me.

It didn't ruin it for me, but wish it was different.

Don't you love with that happens? It warmed up enough here to get rid of all but a few piles of snow from our last blizzard. I think it reached 60 degrees on Sunday.

He may have a house in the UK, but have heard that he lives down Cape, not sure if that's half the year of not, but he is here. I have not watched The Last Kingdom, but need to.

I think we're going to do movie night, but not sure what movie. The Mrs. suggested Sneakers by Robert Redford, so I guess we're going to be watching Sneakers.

That's an underrated one. Fun movie.

Well, it wasn't as thrilling as the playoffs leading up to it, but how could it be? At least it was close in the end.

Dan's got meat on the smoker if anyone can get over there. ;)

And here I am, just seeing this now. Day late and dollar short.

Morning Gents.

Welcome to post Superbowl Monday. Apparently there will not a parade with the MVP at Magic Kingdom today but they are headed to Disneyland. I guess that makes sense given they are in LA.

That's about what we are supposed to get here today. Just started to snow.

Morning, gents.
After making dinner last night, I paid $8 for a 1 day pass for TSN (Sport Network) and watched the remainder of the game.
Had a bit of a time as I couldn't get it to stream on my laptop (probably needed to disable 3rd party or something), so wound up on my iPad. Caught the tale end of the 2nd quarter on.
Enjoyed the half time show too... although parts of it were... odd.

Like... what was Dre trying to do exactly? Pretend he was a DJ I guess. Then he pretended (badly) to play the piano... for about 10 seconds. Thank goodness that Grand piano was there for that!
Sometimes it's nice to be surprised.
::yes::

Now if this ******* winter will stop "surprising" me with dumps of snow, I'll be happy.
He writes historical fiction, which I like. So awesome that I got to meet him.
I do like historical fiction (among other genres). Might have to look him up. I'm reading Billy Summers (by Stephen King) right now. Pretty good so far (about 1/2 way.)
I wore shorts out just to say I did it, but it wasn't an all day thing.
At 32, I bet it wasn't!

I assume it was a nod to how he used to be a DJ and turned his career from being a performer to more of a producer for... well, basically everyone he shared the stage with last night, but especially Eminem in particular.

The piano did catch me a little off guard though. :lmao:

When the 50 cent part started I spent quite a bit of the song looking at him trying to figure out if that was actually him. Almost unrecognizable from the guy who shot his music video for that song shirtless with a 6 pack. I mean, I get it. I'm bigger now than I used to be, but how did he even get up there????

I got that... and was okay with it at first. But then when he kept going back to it... just... why?

I had no idea who he was until DD said. (I know the name, but not the music or the face.)

Crane.

:rolleyes1

You know Mark, that you can borrow books, hardcover, paperback and ebooks from your local library.

Hey Randall, thanks for the tip!

I'll get to it someday. I like to buy books when I can because it's always a good thing to support an author or artist's work. And I'm not in a hurry because my to-read pile is currently so large that I will never, ever catch up. But I keep adding more to it....

Morning, Gents! Running behind this morning, so just a quick drive-by this morning. Had a great day yesterday except for this one patient who got upset because I told him to go back out to his car after checking in, I did it nicely. He got mad, so I pointed out that if he had read the large sign at the front door that says "Do Not Enter. Call to Check-In" I wouldn't have had to tell him to go back out to his car. He didn't like that. Tough. I'm so over people's attitudes.

Have a good day, guy!

:sad2:

Always boggles my mind how people can do something dumb, of their own accord, and get mad at others because they're stupid. Hey, sorry you're mad, dude. Maybe take it up with your parents. You got your genes from them.

After saying what I did about supporting authors, I am well aware that Stephen King doesn't need a lot of help at this point.

The rules are there for other people!

Who has time to read a sign? :confused3 :rolleyes1

I've got a sign for him. :thumbsup2
