DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning, Fellas! Made it through the storm ok, though we did lose power, don't know when it came back on as it was in the middle of the night, but I'd say it was definitely 15 hours. I have gas generator I plugged in for heat, lights and entertainment (TV and DVD once I ran an extension cord). I think the total for power outage for here on the Cape was somewhere around 119,000 people lost power, but with the extra crews I think most people had it back by Sunday evening. Not sure what the wind ultimately got to, but they were predicting up to 80 mph guts. Thankfully we didn't lose a tree or have any other wind damage, but it was still a nasty storm. I spent Friday night at the theater taking production photos, so the DD had a sleepover at Nana's and Grampy's, and wound up staying there until Sunday because of the storm. Below is a pic of my front deck, yes, I forgot to bring in the deck furniture. :teeth:

Well, that's it, gents. Just wanted to pop back in to touch base with everyone. Have a good day.

Morning all.

Another cold one but it is suppose to warm tomorrow ahead of a potential storm. Good times.

Giving blood today, something I haven't done since pre-pandemic. That means I need to get a run in this morning.

Have a good one all.

Glad to see everyone has survived the weather thus far. We've still not had more than a dusting, although we're in line to get hit starting tomorrow afternoon. Depending where the line ends up being, could be anywhere from .1" of ice to a foot of snow. Or more. Or nothing. Or maybe both. Should be fun.

And I'm on the bandwagon. Who Dey!

The Colts have always been my team, but living about 90 minutes out of Cincinnati, and being a lifelong Reds fan, I'm excited to see them doing well. Kind of wish we could watch them more though, where we live in the Indianapolis market, we always get the Colts and then the game with more national interest so I don't often get to watch them on TV. Wish we could.

Thus far. Worked late last night due to the blizzard in this neck of the woods and back at it again now. Supposed to start dying off in the next couple hours.

Quite the swing. I think I'd take 1' of snow over 1" of ice.

Guess who's staying an extra 2.5 hours after shift because of our blizzard? Go ahead... guess.
Ummmm...Santa? Buddy, the elf?
Surely it's not you!

Good you had the generator. Guess you need more extension cords, huh?

but they were predicting up to 80 mph guts
I've heard of fast stomachs, but sheesh!

Cheap drunk tonight! :woohoo:

My cousin (3rd or 4th) is girlfriend (or hopefully more) with BJ Hill from Bengals, so we're rooting for them.

Morning, Fellas! Was at an office yesterday that, due to retirements, will be shutting down at the end of the week. Right now there's only one provider at the office, so yesterday an easy day, and today will be the same.

I'm with Doc, Santa.

I love hearing weather forecasts like that.

I'm guessing Santa.

Good you had the generator. Guess you need more extension cords, huh?

I love having my generator, and yes, I need more extension cords. Seriously. I need more. One can never have enough extension cords.

You've not been through a storm until you've been through a storm with 80 mph guts. That's scary. (shudders at the thought)

I'm with Doc, Santa.
Santa's very, very tired.

We're having the weirdest weather. We had storm, cold/sunny, blizzard (with "warm" (about 25F/-4C) temps) and now cold again (temps down to -33F/-36C)... all in the span of a few days.
Actually... I find it interesting that the riders are sitting behind the humps. Doesn't match the picture I've had all along.

Howdy All,

Reading about all the crazy weather everyone is dealing with, I almost feel bad about the weather here. A little bit of rain and a slight breeze is all I have to deal with. A light jacket is what I wear most of the time. :duck:

After weeks of studying and cramming, The Better Half took her certification test today for her Pharmacy Tech license. I am happy to say she passed. We went to dinner tonight to celebrate (yea!) but came out to a flat tire (boo).

The Kid is in driver's ed and has her final this week. She is nervous but I think she will do well as she is one of the few kids that understands the responsibility and danger of propelling 3000 pounds of steel at high speeds. In any case, I now have to figure out how I'm going to afford a teenage driver on my insurance.

Morning, Fellas! Had another quiet easy day yesterday at, what is now, the last day of the office I worked at. They'll be people there today and tomorrow cleaning and packing up their workspaces, but I was the last front desk person until they decide to reopen it, if it all. I'll be at the pediatrics office today listening to the little ones scream and cry as they get their shots....poor things. Otherwise all is well. Have a good day, and we'll chat latter.

Fair enough

I think Mother Nature's drunk because it's supposed to get up into the 40's here, and this is less than a week after a blizzard.

Ok, that's just wrong.

YAY!!!!! Congratulations to your wife. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Not sure how to respond to this as I have yet to reach that point. I will, however, say this: Good luck. :thumbsup2

Morning, folks.
Wasn't it nice that all of us got to share in the silent majesty of a winter storm......

Things like that bring us together.

That's what I'm telling myself in lieu of sobbing into the sleeve of my parka.

Who let this guy in here???

Hey! Great news. Congrats to your DW.
came out to a flat tire (boo).
Well, that bites.
I dodged a bullet a few days ago. I needed new tires and got a flat the day before I was going in to get them. I was able to reinflate it and it lasted long enough to drive over to Costco (where I got the tires.)
Changing a tire is simple... unless it's -30 out.

Luckily, as metal contracts in the cold, that's when you're most likely to get one.
I now have to figure out how I'm going to afford a teenage driver on my insurance.
We don't have that up here. The insurance is based on the record of the registered owner. DW has a few more points than I do (courtesy of she seldom driving and me driving almost non-stop... and she's less stupid) so the cars are registered in her name.
I'll be at the pediatrics office today listening to the little ones scream and cry as they get their shots....poor things.
Record it and set it to music.

Same thing going on here.
Except we have to put a little minus sign in front of that 40...

Sounds like you might miss it. Great for the people retiring, but sucks for everyone else that will need to find a new job

Who let this guy in here???
I won't tell you about our weather then.

Luckily? You keep using that word...I do not think it means what you think it means.

Huh? Points in Canada must be the opposite of here in the states.
