DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
thought that might be coming, Scotland sounds like a good trip though.
Yeah, us too. We were playing cancel chicken with BA. We have Halloween week booked, hopefully that one comes off otherwise its you and me in a Poly Bungalow in January mate to burn the points.....

Edinburgh's cool, Aberdeen's cool, love Glasgow.
Just gotta work out a route for a couple of days here, couple of days there type of thing so we aren't driving every day.
I'm sure I'll bump into a few ancestral McK's , though, I'll direct them your way ;)

Morning, Gents, from the Land of Cape Cod, Hope all had a good weekend. Too the little Padawan out to see fireworks Sunday night, her first, and it went relatively well. My DD hates loud noises, really scares her, so we brought the hearing protection headphones along. It worked for the most part, she still got scared when they shot up a lot all at once, but she made it through. We spent most of the weekend cleaning and organizing, a deep cleaning this time and getting the house ready for a guest this coming weekend. Past weekends were spent cleaning, but nothing like this past weekend. Man, did we do a lot of cleaning and organizing. Otherwise, a good weekend.

Whoa. That's a huge difference. And $3,500-$4,000??? You'd think airlines would be encouraging people to start flying again. :sad2:

Right?! Don't understand it. To have a huge price difference price just doesn't make sense.

Even spending the day on chores though, still beats spending it at a job I've long since learned to hate.

True dat.

Rats. BA just texted. Chicago cancelled.
Plan B in the making. Looks like Edinburgh Road trip.

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

Remember that book I'm writing on what not to do after Retirement? It's divided into chapters with pandemic, buy truck, multiple jobs, death, sell house, buy house, spouse retirement, and now .... my oldest daughter says she is pregnant. While there's still a chance, my youngest dd wants to get her a birthday cake that says "at least you weren't a teen mom". The good news is that her boyfriend/ father to be wants to get married and help raise the kid, and he seems like a hard worker.

Congratulations.

Thanks. And glad to hear your dad is doing better.

Thanks.

Morning, troops.
Not much on tap today. Got called in to work the day shift and looks like I'll be sticking around for part of the evening shift too.
Not complaining; money's good.

I get they want to recover their losses... but do they have to do it on one plane???

Morning from cloudy Douglas. Just putting in the days until Saturday when DW and I head out for a week of R and R in the Saint Andrews by the Sea area. We'll get a couple of days by ourselves before family starts to join in. Should have some nice time sitting by the fire overlooking the Bay and some hiking. Would have loved to play a round of golf but apparently your average NBer is not the target market for the golf course, even though it is owned by the province I believe.

Hope you all have a great day!

Nice!

Not quite sure I'm following this. Are you saying it's priced out of the average NBer's league?

I guess it isn't owned by the Province anymore. The green fees are some of if not the most expensive in the province.

Morning, Gents! Things are going well for me here on the Land of Cape Cod. Have an early start to my day today, 7 am, and with a half-hour drive I'll be leaving early.

Extra money is always a good thing.

Seriously. That was just too much.

You're in the business Ponzie, put a word in mate......

:bitelip:

Nope, can't do it. I'm in the business... which means we don't get, nor can accept any kind of perks from the airlines.

Well how can we ask for perks if you don't get any? :sad2:

Happy Wendesday from work. Well, the old lady backed out on the house deal, so we made a quick $1000. Now, back to house showings...ugh.

Wow. That's a lot to process there. That must be freaking you guys out a little bit.

For me, not really. Maybe it's just the increased bourbon drip. For DW, yes, she is freaked out. I feel happy for my daughter and at the same time, I also know how much of a struggle it will be.

True dat, my friend.
It's interesting, raising young 'uns in these times.
I'm a proud Englishman, but we also have to own some of the sht we pulled during colonial times, and to be fair, not that long ago. My mum and I clash over this often, as she thinks I'm doing down the UK. It's not unpatriotic to recognise that for a good few hundred years we didn't treat people very well at all, and you can't just dismiss it, otherwise as a better Englishman than me said, if you don't learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it. Well that got deep pretty quick from cheeky banter.......

That's true of most anything in history. Sadly, people try to judge things based on current standards, which rarely works out well.

I sent it to the same address as the 818 portions of a dole whip. I really would have a word with your local postal delivery service.

I'll take that.
Not a massive fan of Weller reserve though, particularly at the price that goes for over here.

I called the USPS. They didn't care. Weller cost isn't too bad here, but it's getting more difficult to find.

Maybe there's a chance we keep the next house clean for us as opposed to just the visitors. Doubtful.

Congratulations.

Thanks. Not sure it has really set in, but I'm sure it will 6-7 more months from now.

But shouldn't they just give it to me, with no effort or commitment on my part???

And if you were in the U.S., that's exactly what has happened. I've heard people actually say they can't AFFORD to go back to work. Is there a BS emoji?

We might have a similar issue up here, although I haven't heard much talk about it.

Mornin' Gents! Had a good day yesterday making calls to remind people of their appointments and to update their information. I was called a scam artist at least twice (totally understand their thinking), and sat through at least 2 lectures on why Medicare shouldn't be asking for all this personal information. Again, I get it, but it did slow things down. And we're due to get the wrath of Elsa tonight, tomorrow(?), not sure when exactly, but Elsa's due to attack the area definitely by tomorrow. So I'll make sure the boat is tied up at the back door and I've batten down all the hatches. It's the trees that scare me. After having a tree fall through the roof back in '07 I get nervous when there's lots of wind. I'll get through it. I'll just hide under the bed. :teeth:

No, I know, hence I was asking for me and CCT ;)
They'll never trace that one

That's right, they'll never be able to trace it. :teeth:

Happy Wendesday from work. Well, the old lady backed out on the house deal, so we made a quick $1000. Now, back to house showings...ugh.

Sorry the deal fell through, but, yeah, at least you made $1000. Good way to look at it.

Maybe there's a chance we keep the next house clean for us as opposed to just the visitors. Doubtful.

We're hoping to get to that point after this big clean/organizing of ours. We really want to, but will we? That's the question.

Thanks. Not sure it has really set in, but I'm sure it will 6-7 more months from now.

You've got time to let it set in. Just think of all the spoiling you can do.

But shouldn't they just give it to me, with no effort or commitment on my part???

I think they should, but what fun would that be? I mean, isn't it more fun to work for it? :confused3

Yeah ok, I didn't believe that one either. :lmao:

Is he sucking his thumb?

People are being paid to stay home and it's irritating me to no end. The government needs to stop paying people to stay home.

Morning boys from a relatively hoarse London, after shouting at the TV for 2 hours last night. Its all getting awfully nervous over here.......

We have cleaners and we tidy up and clean a bit before they get here, which is Apparently this shows I am working class. Upper class wouldn't care what the cleaners had to clean up.

Gotcha.
Ask no questions, tell no lies........

I don't know about the States, but the furlough scheme (the government picked up about 60% of the wages) over here has probably kept 500,000 people off the unemployment line, while the economy gets back on its feet, and all of those small companies start to get cashflow back in. It gets switched off this month, so if all those people end up going back and paying taxes, I think it was a good thing to do. Just my tuppence.
That looks lovely

Right have a good day fellas, off to see a man about a dog.
