Happy 4th of July
AKA Independence day
AKA tell UK to take a hike day

Apologies to her majesty, but really hope you're not relying on theoretical back taxes for solvency. The money that would have been used to pay that has been used instead to make it more profitable for people to sit on their butts and do nothing than to work. We regret to inform you any further attempts to collect said debt may result in legal action for harassment or someone claiming you're racist or sexist or whatever other "ist" they can try to label people with.

Happy 4th of July, everyone! Cool and overcast day here on the Land of Cape Cod. Got a church gig this morning then off to the in-laws for an afternoon of burgers and dogs.

So the Mrs. and I talked it over and decided to visit my parents in August, so spent most of yesterday morning looking for air fare, car rental and hotels. Initial cost of air fare was going to be between $3500 and $4,000 for me, Mrs. and the little Padawan on either Delta, American, or United. Not gonna happen. Jet Blue on the other hand had really good air fare, and I mean, REALLY, good air fare for around $1800 for all three of us. The only problem with flying Jet Blue was the time of the flights, well, one really and that was the one leaving Albuquerque. The flight out of Boston is around 2pm, and that doesn't bother me. I prefer to fly out late morning/early afternoons anyways. Driving up from the Cape for an early morning flight out of Boston just isn't practical, unless we sleep in Boston the night before. The problem was leaving Albuquerque. That flight leaves at almost midnight and arrives in Boston the next morning at around 9am. Had to talk to the Mrs. about that and she didn't have a problem with it, so I booked it. So now I have tickets to New Mexico for around $1800. A LOT cheaper. Unfortunately we arrive too late to get our car rental, but I've got us a hotel within the airport area and will head over the next morning to pick up the car early before making the 3 hour drive to Roswell. So all is planned, except for the hotel in Roswell...I'll get that today or tomorrow. Well, gents, gotta run. Have a good day.

This is good to hear.
May the updates continue to be even better then expected.

Whoa. That's a huge difference. And $3,500-$4,000??? You'd think airlines would be encouraging people to start flying again. :sad2:

Hay y'all...
Do hope everyone is taking time to enjoy the holidays
(where applicable, of course).

We spent a good part of yesterday with family out on the lake.
It was an excellent day to be on the water, to be sure.

Just chillin' today but I'll spend the "official" holiday tomorrow working 'round the house and yard (the missus has to work, so I might as well get some things done; seems only fair). Even spending the day on chores though, still beats spending it at a job I've long since learned to hate.

So I s'pose it's all good...

Tell ya' what...
That should just about cover the reparation's that ought to be due for the UK's actions in 1619. I think an argument could be made for calling it even.

Nope. Had to work last Thursday.

Very nice! Need to get out to the lake soon.

Ouch... but... yes.

Hold on. Still checking.

Didn't say we were blameless (I ain't that myopic)...
That'd just be around about y'all's share.
(And probable a bargain at that, if we're honest.)

Happy 4th. Finished my first weekend shift at the hospital. I didn't get any fireworks injuries, but managed to cover two floors solo. It's a lot of work, and hopefully, a lot of pay.

Remember that book I'm writing on what not to do after Retirement? It's divided into chapters with pandemic, buy truck, multiple jobs, death, sell house, buy house, spouse retirement, and now .... my oldest daughter says she is pregnant. While there's still a chance, my youngest dd wants to get her a birthday cake that says "at least you weren't a teen mom". The good news is that her boyfriend/ father to be wants to get married and help raise the kid, and he seems like a hard worker.

Welcome to Kentucky. Pass the PBR. I'm smoking a cigar and having a bourbon. Have a great holiday weekend if you're American, happy July 4 if you're Canadian, and Happy Treason Day to you Britons.

Congratulations

Thanks.

Cool deal. Congrats!!!

Considering the last thing a redneck says before getting injured or dying is "hold my beer"

DUH!

Guess I might just hafta keep on not living.

That's ok. I drank a few for you.

Morning boys from a creaky London. i had one of those days where I looked a small job, in this case a fence panel and thought, "I need to adjust that". That turned into amending 5 fence panels to shroud the BBQ and deck area, built the Lady K a new raised flower bed out of sleepers, a home for the hammock and painted all the fence posts and the concrete bases. Finished about 8 PM last night. It was like Taz with a drill and a paintbrush.

Just been to the butchers, so Ribeye for dinner, and then drinking for the England game.

Dogs and Burgers tomorrow, as Lady K put off some company tonight, as this week I received the feedback from the family that I am not the greatest person to hang out with during football matches. Apparently telling people to shush in post match interviews (happened on Tuesday with guests) or complete blanking for 45 minutes (happens every game) is not acceptable behaviour. I can't understand it, I think I'm lovely. If you are round to "watch the football" though, "watch the bloody football". Clue's in the title. If you had said to me, "can I come round to talk over the football", I would have politely declined.

I'm just working out the owed tax and damages for the tea from 1776, as we don't seem to have received the check from last year that the Chief promised. As its a pandemic year, we have generously waived the admin fees and are only charging you a measly 2% on top of what you already owe. I'll let you know the figures tomorrow.

Nice one! Beers on Norm! I only drink premium brands when someone else is paying, just to put a marker out there.

BoJo? Really?
Each to his own.

It still does make me laugh though how much reverence the Queen gets. If you look at the G7 summit when they were over here, all the world leaders were lining up to shake hands with her like it was a character meet for naked Tiana. They were absolutely falling over themselves to meet a doddery 100 year old half German. And these people run some of the biggest economies in the world. Merkel was the same yesterday. Although they are probably related, and were consoling each other about Tuesdays loss.

Anyways, enjoy your Treason Weekend, and enough of my random musings. I'm either gonna be very chirpy or borderline hooligan at around 10pm london time.

COME ON YOU LIONS!!

(come on you Habs, with a lot less confidence)

The mellow mushroom pizza place sold Weller Reserve and PBR draft. Truly, God bless the USA. If you ever make it here, and why would you, I'll buy you a shot of Pappy van Winkle - 13 year only.

Mornin', Gents! Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but got shifted around and wound up going to a primary care office, so no chance to post. Good day yesterday overall. Only had 12 patients yesterday, and everyone was done by 3pm, which honestly worked for me. I wound up having to cancel and reschedule all the appointments for the lab for Tuesday, so not having patients or anyone in the office the rest of the day really helped a lot. And a Happy Belated Canada Day to those up north.

Congrats on getting an offer on the house, that's wonderful.

Ok, so dad was moved to El Paso, TX where he currently is. He had a brain hemorrhage, so a hemorrhagic stroke. BUT, it was caused by, they are almost 100% certain on this, medication he is taking for his arrhythmia. Since the doctors took him off of everything when he entered the hospital he's gotten a lot better, that's why they are certain it was caused by the medication. He's able to hold the phone, tv remote and other things. He's talking, and joking, he has a whole new audience for all of his jokes (God help those poor hospital workers :teeth: ), so that's all a good sign. My brother says that unless you know what you are looking for you really can't tell he has any kind of drooping on the right side of his face. As my brother put it, "It looks like a normal old person's face." So things are going really well. Thanks for all the prayers, good thoughts, vibes and pixie dust, it really helped. The hospital wants to keep him through the weekend and will most likely head home on Monday. Thanks again.

Thanks. And glad to hear your dad is doing better.

Good for y'all, and honestly, I'm not surprised.
You probably could have asked for more in this market.

Well if it's just the tea that you're figuring up, that took place a decent bit ahead of the whole written document thing so you'll need to add a couple more years of interest to you calculations.

This is good to hear.
May the updates continue to be even better then expected.

I asked double what I paid for it 20 years ago and got it. I was shocked.

Sleepy Jo will just do a Reconciliation bill. We have trillions to spare.

Have you been watching Wimbledon by any chance?

I have. Still waiting on qualifier invite from you. I guess I'll get mine the same day American soccer gets invited to the EUFA cup. :lmao:

Morning boys from a sunny London. Celebrated the George 3rd Appreciation day with the traditional English meal of Cheese and Artichoke Dip, Buffalo wings and Hand made burgers. And topped off with dessert from that fine English establishment, the Cheesecake factory. Ahem. I am nothing if not a culinary magpie.
Undid some of the brownie points I earned on Friday's dervish like Garden work by getting 3 sheets to the wind on Bourbon after the England game, and waking up at 0145 in the garden with the TV blaring and the doors wide open. Stumbled up to bed, fell in and woke the Lady K up. Not my finest hour. Hey ho, I still think I have a few points in the bank, let's see what happens on Wednesday, looks like I'll have a debit in that particular account again.
Hopefully you had a good day yesterday, I will be looking for missing letters in words around the centre of the keyboard, then we will know who got soppy with the fireworks and now has to pick their nose with their wedding ring finger.

Wow. That's a lot to process there. That must be freaking you guys out a little bit.
(And probable a bargain at that, if we're honest.)
True dat, my friend.
It's interesting, raising young 'uns in these times.
I'm a proud Englishman, but we also have to own some of the sht we pulled during colonial times, and to be fair, not that long ago. My mum and I clash over this often, as she thinks I'm doing down the UK. It's not unpatriotic to recognise that for a good few hundred years we didn't treat people very well at all, and you can't just dismiss it, otherwise as a better Englishman than me said, if you don't learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it. Well that got deep pretty quick from cheeky banter.......
I have. Still waiting on qualifier invite from you. I guess I'll get mine the same day American soccer gets invited to the EUFA cup
I sent it to the same address as the 818 portions of a dole whip. I really would have a word with your local postal delivery service.
I'll buy you a shot of Pappy van Winkle - 13 year only.
I'll take that.
Not a massive fan of Weller reserve though, particularly at the price that goes for over here.

Have a great day off, I'll keep the plates spinning on the international economy whilst you lot hopefully kick back and crack a few open.

Well that got deep pretty quick from cheeky banter.......
All banter has an implied deep side to it (even if we spend much time trying to ignore it). Our unavoidable lack of perfection guarantees such.
Seeing the humor is about the only way to move on, and generally the best way to get us to look at ourselves more broadly.

It'll ruffle feathers depending of just which nerve gets struck, to be sure, but that's just another dimension of that whole lack of perfection thing.

Morning all from a beautiful Monday morning in the colony. Temps should be pretty comfortable in the 80s F (I just decided to forego the whole Celsius thing seeing you are still all celebrating in the south). Not much on the go today, couple of Canadian boys playing in the round of 16 at Wimbledon so I'll catch most of that, run a few errands and then spend the rest of the day by my self. The family of one of DW's students has invited her team to their cottage for the afternoon as a teacher appreciation thing and DS is just doing the DS thing which means he won't be here.

1-0 loss last night in soccer and feeling a bit stiff today. We started with 5 players on our back line and our 2 center backs ended up hurt so it was a rather full match.

Have a great Monday to finish your celebration of the 4th.

Rats. BA just texted. Chicago cancelled.
Plan B in the making. Looks like Edinburgh Road trip.

I thought that might be coming, Scotland sounds like a good trip though.
