DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Well...
I didn't quit my job today, and honestly, I ain't sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Thanks for the wishes over on FB. My dad died on Friday AM and the funeral is Tuesday.
Very sorry for you loss sir. Any loss of life is to be mourned, but
loosing immediate kin is pretty tough on the spirit.

Not unless you stay on top it.
TWSS...

(Sorry, no one else mentioned it, and I couldn't resist)

Been kicked out of my office today, as the Lady K has more calls than me.
Far better then having been kicked out'a the house completely.

(a condition which also doesn't generally include the bonus of a large distracting telle)

4 more sleeps til DaWorld.
We'll be traveling around the same time, just down to the coast rather then to central Fla. DaWorld is on the agenda though, but I got's more like 160 sleeps before then (and that also assumes we can actually go as planned).

It's been a hard day. I knew my dad was dying. I did the discharge plan at the hospital for Hospice. That's been my job, tangentially or directly, over the past 25+ years. I know that if I just keep working, that I just won't feel. I did a lot of cleaning today, which I'm not sure if it was meant to be a distraction, but was needed giving the future move.

Sorry for your loss Norm. Having been through this myself and also with my daughter almost 2 years ago, I know there is nothing I can say to ease the pain or loss, but if you need someone to just listen, give me a shout.

Thanks Doc.

My condolences on your loss.

Thank you.

Sorry for the loss of your father. I pray for peace for you and your family during this time.

Thank you.

Morning, Gents! Wet start to the week this week here on the land of Cape Cod. It started last night with some blustery winds, then moved into full on torrential downpours. Not sure if it'll rain all day, but I'm not complaining. We are in need of some serious rain. Had a good Mother's Day yesterday. Started the day off by making the Mrs. breakfast in bed, my DD insisted on it. We then headed over to the in-laws for some good food that we got from Olive Garden. The only thing that was made was the dessert: Homemade tiramisu. Mmmmmm Since my mom's in New Mexico, I had called her the day before and had a nice conversation with her. That was it. Hope everyone had a good weekend. .

Thankfully I had help with that. :thumbsup2:teeth:

Not unless you stay on top it. You can do it yourself, but it's always better to have help. :thumbsup2:teeth:

Ah, so plenty of time to prepare the perfect gift.

Norm, my deepest condolences go out to you and your family. Praying for support, my friend.

Thank you.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Norm. Prayers for your family.

Hopefully this year is better than that one time the 2nd thing you saw was a treadmill.

Thanks Mark.

Thanks CBO.

Top O the ............... oops its afternoon, sorry. Hope all the moms had a great day yesterday, they sure do deserve it. Norm, I hope you are doing o.k., thoughts are with you. All have a good week and for me, only 4 more sleeps til DaWorld.

Thanks Mike.

Morning chaps from a overcast mother country. Been kicked out of my office today, as the Lady K has more calls than me. The Big backroom TV is somewhat of a distraction.

She totally deserves it. I like to browse for at least 5 minutes before clicking on Amazon next day for the 2nd thing I see. She must wake up in the morning and thank her lucky stars that she ended up with me. Ahem.

Final offer. I'll shove a couple of balloons up my T-shirt and hug you for 2 minutes. But no Cheerleader skirt. Or wigs.

You drive a hard bargain my friend.

(Hope this week goes as well as these things can buddy)

Must be all that pumping.
(We might be venturing out your way this year, we are looking for a week or so getaway)

Have a great day fellas

That is tempting, 007. Keep the balloons for a time when I've really had too much to drink.

Morning lads from a sunny London. All the best to Norm and family today.

Not much on here, still banished to the back room.
England and the UK looks like its properly opening up in a few weeks, so everyone is now desperately booking vacations. The prices are frankly, eye watering. 4k for a week in Greece? No thanks.

Slightly early birthday present from the Missus...
Nice. A good sippin' bourbon, is that.
You lost me at balloons up your shirt.
I wasn't offering you, Mr Picky.....
That is tempting, 007. Keep the balloons for a time when I've really had too much to drink.
See? A man who knows an offer when he sees one.
I know that if I just keep working, that I just won't feel. I did a lot of cleaning today, which I'm not sure if it was meant to be a distraction, but was needed giving the future move.
Do what you need to do, fella. Everyone copes differently.
Well...

It certainly has its Pros and Cons.
but I got's more like 160 sleeps before then (and that also assumes we can actually go as planned).
I have a funny feeling our trips may cross over...... (164 sleeps for me)

Have a good one fellas.

Morning, Gents! Had a good day yesterday, a bit slow, but a good day. Get to head to a new office today, so excited about that. Outside that not much is going on. Have a good day.

Thinking of Norm and his family today.

Well, she is the boss, right? So what the boss wants, the boss gets.

Must be all that pumping.

As in Mass/New England/Cape Cod? If you do head out my, Cape Cod to Boston, let me know, maybe we can get together.

No apologies necessary. Honestly I'm surprised no one mentioned it earlier. :teeth:

I think we all can relate to that one.

I know that if I just keep working, that I just won't feel. I did a lot of cleaning today, which I'm not sure if it was meant to be a distraction, but was needed giving the future move.

There's no right or wrong way to grieve. Whatever helps you best. We're grieving right along with you.

Such talent requires celebration... and possibly avoidance.
England and the UK looks like its properly opening up in a few weeks, so everyone is now desperately booking vacations.
Huh!! Wow! A light in the darkness!
The prices are frankly, eye watering. 4k for a week in Greece? No thanks.
While that's extreme... at least it's available. I'll take that as a good sign too.
She thinks she is. (Nervously checks behind himself to makes sure she's not looking)

Made it home. It's been a long day. Glad to be home.

A terrific gift. Enjoy.

That can be quite the talent. Hopefully, you didn't find that out first hand experience.

Thank you. Any news on the job front? Or, going towards full time?

There's no right or wrong way to grieve. Whatever helps you best. We're grieving right along with you.

Thanks. Since he was home with Hospice the past 3 weeks, it's been a roller coaster.

Considering yesterday was 1st day at my new job, for me, it's a good thing I didn't quit. :lmao:

How did it go?

Well...
We're in the midst of a self-inflicted petrol shortage down this'a way
(just as I'll be needing a couple full tanks for travelin' this weekend)

If the Missus can't find a station that still has some remaining liquid assets, I'll be out later this evening trying to scrounge up a gallon or three.

Nice. A good sippin' bourbon, is that.
Yes, yes it is.

That one is currently the smoothest poor in the cabinet.
May need to partake of a ounce of two.

It certainly has its Pros and Cons.
And as it stands right now, the Cons are dwindling...
Rapidly.

I have a funny feeling our trips may cross over...... (164 sleeps for me)
We're looking at October 17th through the 23rd right now (depending on just how many wrenches get tossed into the works.)

Get to head to a new office today, so excited about that.
May the new situation be a good one.
I ended up in a new office late last year.
All thing considered, I'd much rather they'd left me working at home.

She thinks she is. (Nervously checks behind himself to makes sure she's not looking)
Got away with it this time, did ya'?
Livin' dangerously there.

Considering yesterday was 1st day at my new job, for me, it's a good thing I didn't quit. :lmao:
Do believe I'd agree with that assessment.
What kind of different is this gig over the last one?

Been there, did that... 😏
Retiring ain't quite the same as walking out...
If I could retire right now, I'd already have been out the door.

How did it go?
Well...mostly paperwork and getting computer, badge, etc., so it just kinda was. Nothing horrible, but nothing stellar either.

Do believe I'd agree with that assessment.
What kind of different is this gig over the last one
Better in all respects(salary, 401k matching, benefits, etc), except one...less vacation time. The good thing is with the salary bump, I could take a couple weeks without pay and still end up with more in the bank.

Morning, Gents! Well, didn't make it to the new office yesterday. I got a phone call from my scheduler just as I was about to get in the car saying that she needed to send me somewhere else. So I re-routed to another office, this was a lot closer than the one I was supposed to go to. That's ok, I like the office I went to, so I didn't mind. Met up with my VFW post last night to prepare for our Memorial Day Ceremony this year. As the state is opening up, our ceremony will fall within the specified guidelines for large groups, so the town wants to go forward with the ceremony. Instead of our normal location, we are holding it somewhere else that is necessitating us having to re-work the ceremony. I think with what we have it'll work out nicely. It'll be recorded by the local TV access station and put up online, and I'll share that link when I have it.

Well, that's it. Spent most of the morning composing an email to the town's recreation dept. head, so I'm cutting this one short. Have a good day, guys.

Cape Cod. Barnstaple or Chatham.

That would be Barnstable, but close. That's awesome! When are you looking to come out? You'll have to let me know so we can meet up...that's if you want to be seen with me. I have had my shots, so I'm cootie free. :teeth:

She thinks she is. (Nervously checks behind himself to makes sure she's not looking)

:teeth: I told the wife once that I was the man of the house and that meant I was in charge. Yeah that didn't go over well.

Made it home. It's been a long day. Glad to be home.

I'm a day late on this one, but grab a drink, sit back and relax a bit.

Thank you. Any news on the job front? Or, going towards full time?

Not yet, but I'm working towards it.

Hopefully you were able to find some gas....and not the bean kind.

May the new situation be a good one.
I ended up in a new office late last year.
All thing considered, I'd much rather they'd left me working at home.

Unfortunately I didn't get to the new office as I was re-routed to a different one. If given a chance, I'd like to work from home as well, but I do like visiting different offices....something different each day.
