Ours cost us $275 for first 1k gallons then .20 for every gallon after. I don't think it was that bad considering they came at the end of the day.
Well pipes are still frozen. Boiler is running luckily
Woohoo! That's awesome! So happy for you. I'm paranoid when it comes to frozen pipes, so when it gets to the single digits I let the water drip in the faucets during the night. Since we're home all day I don't worry about dripping it during the day.
I worked installing septic systems for many years and not pumping the tank at regular intervals is the leading cause of system failures. The time between pumping the tank can vary on tank size and number of people using the system, but in general a system with a 500 gallon tank and a family of four using the system should be pumped every 3-4 years. The new regulations here in NB the minimum tank size is now 750gal.and leaching fields have increased about 20 % in size. Here depending on ground conditions a new system can cost between 7 to 15k definitely a major investment. It cost about 300 to pump a tank here, at Doc's price I'd pump every year.
It seems I'm not the only one who's done this. I hear there are, don't want to say a ton of people, but I more people than not who forget to have it pumped. I'm now one of them....sad to say.
On a totally different note...
DW is going for surgery on her back tomorrow. Have to be there at 0545. If you're the praying type, prayers very much appreciated
I said a prayer for your wife and the Dr.'s this morning, my friend. Hope all goes well.
Pipes just unfroze. Had 5 space heaters on it for 13 hours!
Woohoo!

Cold out there. I'm a bit annoyed. Kid's car has a brand new battery and she had it plugged in, but it still didn't start. Funny... I was looking at a battery blanket the other day and thinking about maybe she should have one, for these extreme temps (it was -34C/-29F), but then thought she'd plug that in when it was warm (ish... like around the freezing temp) for no reason. She's like that.
Well... guess I'll get it and talk to her about it. Or vice versa.
I wouldn't want to work in that cold either.
Must admit. I don't feel a pressing need to venture out.
