DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Got behind in here a bit as between work and trying to not be on tech every minute........... Hope all enjoyed a nice Easter and it was good to catch up with you guys for a bit Saturday. Hung with the wife and boy so couldn't partake too long with you guys or ya know, happy wife, etc. Stay safe and keep messaging / talking so we can keep some amount of sanity.

Afternoon fellas, from the mother country. Movie day here today, so we all picked a movie each. We've done Jumanji Next Level, Parent Trap, and we have Back to the future, and Rise of Skywalker later. The boy has stage fright, so the FB vids have dried up. He's made a ginger cake though, so not too shabby. Jambalaya for dinner.
He did well to get out as many videos as you did.
Nice job on the baking. DW and youngest DD have been non stop with the cookies, and we've all been non-stop with eating them.
I might have to think about going keto after all this.
I actually tried baking some homemade bread and banana muffins last week and they turned out pretty well.
Baking, if nothing else, can be relaxing.

Nice movie line up. I haven't seen the latest Jumanji yet, I thought the first one was pretty good. Who picked the Star Wars - surely not you Dan?

He did well to get out as many videos as you did.
Yeah I think so. Its kinda my fault, after chatting to the guys who were very kind about the videos, I told him lots of kids were watching him. I think he got a bit self conscious after that.
I might have to think about going keto after all this.
Yep, back on the running keto wagon tomorrow for me as well.

Who picked the Star Wars - surely not you Dan
You know me well my friend. My pick was BTTF. The Jumanji was really good, a clever way not to just make it the same movie again.

Sunday was also my son Scotty's birthday so we had a big combo Easter/birthday dinner.
Happy belated birthday to Scotty!
The local steakhouse has opened up a takeout butcher shop where we can buy cuts from them and grill them at home. They must get better meat than the grocery stores because those were outstanding.
I find the butcher shops always have better quality than the grocery stores.
He's made a ginger cake though
Is that a cake without a soul?
We're supposed to have 70 mph wind gusts. Could be a long night.
'Tis merely a breeze...
The Jumanji was really good, a clever way not to just make it the same movie again.
I've liked all of them (Well... haven't seen Zathura…)

Morning chaps from an overcast London. Not sure what's on the agenda today, I just know there are chicken wings at the end of it.

Is that a cake without a soul?
Definitely don't leave it in the sun. It will evaporate.
Was it because of corona virus or because you've met me that you didn't invite me?
can't it be a little bit of both? ;)
only banter my friend, my door is always open.....
Sure...he can keep the merchandising rights...I just get 20% royalties.
On what I'm paying him, that shouldn't be a problem.
Hope you all had a nice Easter. Sunday was also my son Scotty's birthday so we had a big combo Easter/birthday dinner. The local steakhouse has opened up a takeout butcher shop where we can buy cuts from them and grill them at home.
Happy birthday to Scott mate, I saw on FB about the F1... That's an awesome present.

Morning from the Cape, gents! Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and Passover. Sorry I missed the Zoom chat on Saturday, I was with the wife making a video for the Easter service for church, and it took longer than I thought. If anyone is interested in hearing me sing and my wife play the harp, click here, our part of the service begins at 11:25, so you can skip the rest. I'm not 100% happy with that take, but that was take 13 at that point and my voice was getting a bit tired. I hadn't sung like that in a while now, so singing it 13 times in a row like that was like going from the couch to a 5K without any practicing. And that harp my wife is playing is 106 years old, and has played for the original Broadway production of South Pacific...love that instrument.

Well, things at work are ok and pretty much the same. Won't know if they are going to keep me until probably the last week, so pray I can stay past the end of the contract. Stringing along temp workers seems to be a thing with this company, so there's a good chance they're going to keep me. And it never rains but it always pours. I've been out of a permanent job now since Jan. of 2019, and with all this rain we've been getting we're finding leaks in our roof and now our water heater is leaking. I have a friend who's a plumber coming over to look at it today, so I'll know for sure if it is the hot water heater, but I'm 95% sure it is.

Well, Gents! Gotta run and start the day. Have a great day and we'll chat later.

TTFN

If y'all are interested, we're on zoom now.

Wish I could have made it, but I was busy with the wife.

Morning chaps from a warm and cloudy London. Happy Easter to everyone, the kids wanted to full English this morning, we very rarely have it, so Sausage,Bacon, Egg, Home Made Hash Browns, Beans and Toast was had by all. Now the back room smells like a diner. Lady K is trying to combat it with candles. She's put so many on it looks like John Lennon was shot in our kitchen. It was fun chatting last night, and Mikey's ham looks particularly good.

That sounds like a wonderful meal.

Happy Easter guys, such as it is.
The one day of the year I can eat chocolate for breakfast and not feel so guilty about it.

You know, you don't have to limit yourself to just once a year for eating chocolate for breakfast. 😆

High heels, suspendies and a bra?

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd like to see that.

Mmmmm man that looks good.

Morning, folks.
Snowed most of the night, so that kept me a little busy.
Went for a run with the kid yesterday. That's day 1 of week 3. Not getting easier and was limping for most of the rest of the day.
I'll keep at it, but... I'm not sure for how much longer. I'm determined to see it through, but then again, my old body might have other ideas.

If you have a gym near by, I'd switch to the eliptical cross trainer, easier on the knees and ankles.

We're supposed to have 70 mph wind gusts. Could be a long night.

I hope everything came out ok and that you didn't lose a tree. You know, being originally from New Mexico, I love a good storm. Nothing better than watching it rain or snow, but the wind! I HATE THE WIND. We had a tree fall through the roof back in 2007, right over the family room where I was sitting at the time, and ever since then I've been scared of the wind when I'm at the house.

Morning, folks.
Just under an hour to go then I'm on 4 days off. I need them. These string of midnights are not easy on the system.

If anyone is interested in hearing me sing and my wife play the harp, click here,
I'm at work, so I can't see it, but hope to later today.
singing it 13 times in a row like that was like going from the couch to a 5K without any practicing.
Hey! I know what that's like! Well... I'm only up to 3K, so not quite.
And that harp my wife is playing is 106 years old, and has played for the original Broadway production of South Pacific...love that instrument.
Cool!
with all this rain we've been getting we're finding leaks in our roof and now our water heater is leaking. I have a friend who's a plumber coming over to look at it today, so I'll know for sure if it is the hot water heater, but I'm 95% sure it is.
Oh, man. That sucks. Sorry to hear that.

I know a guy who just changed his tank. He swore by the new polybutene tank (available Home Depot)
It costs more than double a normal tank would cost, but it has a lifetime warranty on it.
If you expect to be in the same place for more than 10 years, it might be something to look into.
Unless you're thinking of going tankless? (Which is even more expensive.)
Wish I could have made it, but I was busy with the wife.
Alright! Way to go! You're the only husband around here who gets "busy" with the wife!
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd like to see that.
:sad2: I can't believe you said that too.
If you have a gym near by, I'd switch to the eliptical cross trainer, easier on the knees and ankles.
I use the stair master at work, but, like every other gym right now, it's closed due to the pandemic.

can't it be a little bit of both? ;)
only banter my friend, my door is always open.....
I know and it's not like I didn't set it on a tee for ya!
I may take you up on the open door once this mess is over. Now isn't a good time.

On what I'm paying him, that shouldn't be a problem.
Oh crap. Wait! The union...that should fix that and now that he has a manager, his rate should go up.

If anyone is interested in hearing me sing and my wife play the harp, click here,
I thought you said you could sing. Totally teasing. Very nice. You sounded better after take 13 than I could EVER. I'm a bass and I could never get that high...even with tight tight shorts.

And that harp my wife is playing is 106 years old, and has played for the original Broadway production of South Pacific...love that instrument
That is cool. I was in South Pacific in our HS musical and still my favorite musical (although Les Miserables takes a close second). You definitely married up dude. I had to re-read that you said it was your wife...I thought it was your daughter. Pretty lady ya got there!

I have a friend who's a plumber coming over to look at it today, so I'll know for sure if it is the hot water heater, but I'm 95% sure it is.
When I first read that, I thought you meant the roof at the warehouse and I was going to say have your friend charge them an arm & a leg. Then I realized you probably meant your house. Good you have a friend to help out.

Wish I could have made it, but I was busy with the wife
"busy"???
Nice.

Oh, you mean the video. Never mind.

Morning, folks.
Just under an hour to go then I'm on 4 days off. I need them. These string of midnights are not easy on the system.
I thought the new laws were supposed to help your insane work schedule.

Hey! I know what that's like! Well... I'm only up to 3K, so not quite.
I broke my back in several places years ago in an accident, so running LITERALLY hurts. Props to you, sir.

I could never get that high...even with tight tight shorts.
You're doing it wrong. Snort cocaine, not shorts.
I thought the new laws were supposed to help your insane work schedule.
Everything's out the window right now. So much has changed due to the pandemic.
I broke my back in several places years ago in an accident, so running LITERALLY hurts. Props to you, sir.
Thanks. And yep... knew that.

OK, so today escalated quickly. George went from not wanting to do videos. You may have noticed earlier we were having Chicken wings as dinner tonight. If any of you have seen the Hot Wings series on YouTube, G is obsessed with it. So he and I are embarking on the hot wings challenge.
He's pretty good with spice, he's been eating Indian food up to spicy tandoori level since he was about 5.
This is what awaits us.20200414_132045.jpg I know some of you are not linked to me on FB, so you are welcome to play along and predict how far we both get.

I don't know...they all look like they have been used, so I expect maybe you'll make it all the way through.

You know me well my friend. My pick was BTTF. The Jumanji was really good, a clever way not to just make it the same movie again.

Good to know. I liked the Jumanji reboot, but haven't watched the sequel yet. I did get to see both Knives Out and 1917 recently. I really liked them both.

Happy belated birthday to Scotty!

Thanks! It's tough having birthdays under quarantine. We get to do it all over again with Dave in a few days.

I find the butcher shops always have better quality than the grocery stores.

This seems like it should always be true.

Morning chaps from an overcast London. Not sure what's on the agenda today, I just know there are chicken wings at the end of it.

Any day that ends in chicken wings can't be a bad day! Unless they're still attached to live chickens.

Happy birthday to Scott mate, I saw on FB about the F1... That's an awesome present.

Thanks! My parents took David to the race a few years ago for his birthday, so they had planned to do the same for Scott. Unfortunately, now we don't know if the race will ever happen. Kind of a bummer.

Nice job! You guys are very talented.

Ugh. Sorry, man. That's not a good feeling.

We actually did ok. Wasn't bad at my house at all. My biggest worry was for my staff at work--wind tends to play havoc with our traffic signals and equipment. They're still catching up with some of the damages.

Just under an hour to go then I'm on 4 days off. I need them. These string of midnights are not easy on the system.

I believe you. I don't think I could ever get used to that.

Alright! Way to go! You're the only husband around here who gets "busy" with the wife!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

On the other hand, we were joking among members of my church that they'd better have lots of baptism materials ready for 9 months from now once the lockdown started.

That's my cultural Quota filled for the next 3 months.

Yeah, I think I'll check that box too. Now, back to Dumb & Dumber.

Remind me not to get drunk and challenge you at karaoke for money.

Oh, come on. You'd destroy him with Total Eclipse of the Heart.

I broke my back in several places years ago in an accident, so running LITERALLY hurts.

Because running is bad for you!

If any of you have seen the Hot Wings series on YouTube, G is obsessed with it. So he and I are embarking on the hot wings challenge.
He's pretty good with spice, he's been eating Indian food up to spicy tandoori level since he was about 5.

That's more info than you gave on FB. I'll say he makes it through 8 of 10.

At home debating on going back to work as I think I have a kidney stone on the move.

You definitely married up dude. I had to re-read that you said it was your wife...I thought it was your daughter. Pretty lady ya got there!

That's what I was thinking. Great job both of you.

This is what awaits us.View attachment 487890 I know some of you are not linked to me on FB, so you are welcome to play along and predict how far we both get.
I would think you can finish it. The official Anchor Bar recipe for the original chicken wings was nothing more than Tabasco Sauce and butter so they didn't reach the 🥵 level that you can find now. One Of the better hot sauces I have found us Endorphin Rush. A mild flavor and a heat that doesn't kick in right away but then gets you and makes your ears ring.
