DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I just don't think it's as simple as people using the name ubiquitously.
I didn't say it was, or that they were market leaders just because they get huffy when people say Legos.

I said they are protective of the name so it isn't cheapened by associated with any brick, as the relative others seem to have, and therefore you lose some of your brand identity of and therefore others have an opportunity to steal a march, which has happened to other brands. The question was from Norm why they get cross when we refer to it as Legos, and that's the reason.

So I got the updated crowd projections for our trip, and overall, I like them. 1/10 for Magic Kingdom? Yes please! The only problem is that our scheduled Hollywood Studio day is projected at a 9/10. :crazy2::sad:

The following day is a 6/10, so that's not too bad. So I switched my 50's Diner ADR to the next day, and do half days at the Studio on two consecutive days.... (got a breakfast ADR for Bon Voyage and a lunch one for BoG the next day, and I doubt I'll be able to switch those, so split days are my only solution).

Afternoon men! Sure give us a washout weekend this past weekend, great Mon-Wed weather and then rain again Thursday - Mon - VDF!? TO those hit with some tornados in the midwest and TX, prayers.
It’s exactly that mate. Band aid, Kleenex and Hoover, Sheetrock, scotch tape....are no longer market leaders because the propriety name was hijacked by other value models that took the market. Therefore anything that is called Legos and is another building brick brand cheapens the name, which I guess is why they are so sensitive about it. They must be on to something, they are now the leading toy manufacturer on the planet....
"Lego is world's largest toy manufacturer for the first time. In this past year, Danish Lego Group achieved growth once more and has now, for the first time ever, become the world's largest toy manufacturer, surpassing Mattel."
"McDonald's is the largest distributor of toys in the world, and by far. 20% of all sales at McDonald's include a toy, with one being passed out with each Happy Meal the company sells."
The Top Toy Companies Ranked by Market Share
Mattel 19%
Hasbro 15%
Lego 9%
Finally Jeff will be able to get those dance costumes out of the closet.
Had to go there didn't ya?

C'était très bon. La viande fumée était un délice.

Wonderful Spanish. Did you eat tacos?

Refined and cultured people know that you don't pluralize Lego.
You can however say Lego bricks.
You can also add extra U's to words. :P

Lueuguou? Yup!

Lego is the brand name. The things are bricks. The plural is Lego Bricks.
We get slapped wrists if we refer to "Legos".

Slapped wrists are better than a slapped ****. Or, maybe not if you are Shades of Gray.

Wow...didn't realize they were picky with regard to that....
Everyone I know (up until now) has called them Legos. Even when it's not Lego brand (kinda like band aid and qtip and sheetrock)

::yes::

And at that price, they should be.

:scratchinI'm kinda thinking this phrase is Taboo in the office:scared1:

Lego my Eggo:confused3

Now since probably no one who owns Lego only owns 1 block wouldn't the plural be Legos.:confused3:eek:

Are we still talking about Lego? Must be Dan playing a Jedi mind trick on us.

I'll bite. If you step on a single block, then you have stepped on 1 Lego brick. Like all of us with kids there will be a nation of blocks on the floor, then you have stepped on many Lego bricks. Lego is the brand name. A brick is the plastic piece imbedded in your foot.
Do I get some kind of marketing bonus now Dan? @londontime :rotfl2:

Spoken like a true prodigy. Bravo. The cheque is in the mail :worship::rotfl2:

In the early stages of planning my July 4 trip for 2020. July 4 is on Saturday. How crazy packed is it? And, what 7 day trip would be better for crowds? Week before July 4? Week after? Split (Wed to Wed)?

Great minds. Bad news for you though.

Don't fall for it Jeff. He's put all his money on Liverpool.

If I step on anything and it gets inbedded in my foot, believe me it's going to be called ALOT of things but what it actually is will probably not be one of them:rotfl2::laughing::rolleyes1

Let me know what your schedule is mate, I'll try and match up a day to meet up for a cheeky Jai Alai?

I understand and wasn't trying to argue...I just find it a bit comical they get huffy about pluralizing it.

Speaking of Huffy, wouldn't multiple bikes of that brand name be huffys?
Multiple bandages - band aids.
Multiple ear swabs - q-tips

In the early stages of planning my July 4 trip for 2020. July 4 is on Saturday. How crazy packed is it? And, what 7 day trip would be better for crowds? Week before July 4? Week after? Split (Wed to Wed)?
Never have done the 4th so can't help there. Been at Christmas and managed the crazy crowds ok. You're a veteran so managing high crowds should be no problem for you. Only caution on a Wed -Wed is your 60 day FP+ window as most folks arrive on a Sat or Sun and will heave a head start on you for that week so your Wed through Fri days may be tough to get what you want especially for Galaxy's Edge attractions.

I think the week before would be better...many people start their summer vacation the 4th and after, so I suspect before would be better (and slightly less brutal on heat). You could check crowd calendar to be certain.

Need an IT consultant to go with you to Germany? I'm available.

Careful...that should be stepping on Lego bricks to a whole new level or you might get something spanked. On the other hand, May be you want something spanked. Multiple times would be spanks or is that spanx?

Morning Gents,

another late night of soccer and a 2-1 win. Not sure what we did to the scheduler, that was the second game in four nights and we play again twice more by next Wednesday. With two fullbacks hurt this is making for a sore body.

We arrived on July 5th one trip and we enjoyed a few days of lower crowd levels.

Congrats on the win!
They must have found out you're somehow associated with the Cubs. Ever since we won the series, we've gotten some of the crappiest scheduling. Last year, I think it was 31 days straight without a day off.

Interesting. Since thats one of the blackout timeframes for gold or lower AP holders, I would've thought crowds would be horrible.
Good to know. I want to try to catch the 4th fireworks this year.
