DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Ended up getting that heart cath done two weeks ago. Had another afib attack and the doc decided we should get it done to rule out blockages and such. Good news, they didn't find anything wrong, so no stents or anything were required, so just treating the afib with meds. Was back to work the following Monday and have been doing pretty good since.

Glad to hear they didn't find anything wrong! Let's hope it stays that way.

It's been too long since my last visit and post to this neck o' the net. Hope everyone is doing well. We are gearing up for another trip to WDW in September.

I miss being able to go in September. Great time to be there.

I’m calling it. Everyone out. Over to the Rose and Crown for a Welsh Dragon. Last one out takes Merida home and let me tell ya, when she wants to ride her hairy beast, she’s not talking about her horse Angus.

Just how hairy are we talking about?

Evening fellas. Come home to a quiet house as the kids are tucked in as is Lady K. She went out drinking last night, came home worse for wear on the last overhead train out to the East of London, which is full of those who were last out of the pubs, and is therefore affectionately named "The Vomit Comet".

I can't give you a job mate if you keep calling it Legos.

Cheers boys. Don't feel too bad for me, the UK has Monday off, hence me staying back a bit to get stuff done. I also got to order some cool 3D models for a store near a famous Florida theme park.....

Well played. Is her horse Ginger as well?

What am I supposed to call it?

When you get it to ZERO bytes, that means your editing job is complete.

I can play with legos AND have a niece who works at Legoland.

Don't call legos. And, my phone broke trying to edit that video. I think it was actually crying.

Morning Guys.

Another beautiful day shaping up here in this little corner of the world, suppose to hit 20C (about 70 for you all) again today. Soccer season kicked off last night with out 1 game exhibition season and a 3-0 win. Regular season starts up Wednesday night. Couple of meetings this weeks to talk about getting help for new Canadians that want to play sports and a full day talking about getting more women and girls involved in sport. Other that that it should be a quiet week.

Get that Vardy Jersey back on. Been trying to get my team back up for tennis, but it has been difficult this year.

I forgot to mention that I also saw Avengers Endgame on Sunday afternoon. Holy WOW! I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen, but it was incredible (if you liked the previous Marvel movies).

Yes and no. We can discuss once all have seen.

Hey fellas, it's been a while.

In more pleasant news, as of this morning, I finally FINALLY got all my ADRs that we wanted set up. Gonna keep an eye out to see if I can get a better time on some, but if not, I am okay with that. Now we wait to set up Fastpasses. (a side question: Can you set up multiple FP for one ride in the initial 3 for the day? Like if on HS day I wanted to FP Slinky Dog and Star Tours x 2, would that be possible
TL

Good news that you made your ADRs and that your alive. Sorry you had to go back to work. I don't remember seeing the same ride available for FP on the same day.

Hey Dads,

It's been too long since my last visit and post to this neck o' the net. Hope everyone is doing well. We are gearing up for another trip to WDW in September. Should be epic, as the oldest DD (10) is becoming much more adventurous and the youngest DD will be 7 by then and is now tall enough for everything except Primeval Whirl and RnR.

Very much looking forward to some major Quality Time.

We will also be doing a day at Universal to take in all that is Harry Potter.

Life is good. Hope all is well with all of you.

RW

Enjoy both Disney and the Dark side. We did that one trip, but I didn't like the drive. I'd rather just stay inside the bubble.

I miss being able to go in September. Great time to be there.

Agree, it was fun. I hope to try November and December for comparison

Top O the Mornin Dads! Same old same old around here - have a good one!
This will be it for high school sports and he has opted not to play basketball at university in the fall. He thinks his first year course load will be heavy and he is really not interested in most likely being a red shirt in his first year.

We lost in the final today. Overall it was a rough day all around, we didn't play that well until the semi-final but did manage to finish OK so that was good.
Gonna miss following along with the hoops and Vball stories. Sounds like he is making a good decision and I'm sure he can play some pick-up hoops games.
Monday came again. I always hope it doesn't. Oh well.
Had a pretty good weekend.

Youngest DD finished her third of three dance competitions in as many months, she got 2 gold and 2 silver medals in her dances (all group dances, no solos). All that's left now is the June recital and it will be over for another year. My bank account will breathe a tiny sigh of relief for a couple months.
Congrats to DD on the dance results and to your wallet for a bit of a break.

In one month, we tell the girls about the trip. The anticipation is killing me. MAybe that's where the afib is coming from! lol!

Welcome back, looks like you had a good trips. See, you can leave us alone, we didn't do any damage, I think..............

We get slapped wrists if we refer to "Legos".

Lego is the brand name. The things are bricks. The plural is Lego Bricks.

Wow...didn't realize they were picky with regard to that....
Everyone I know (up until now) has called them Legos. Even when it's not Lego brand (kinda like band aid and qtip and sheetrock)

It’s exactly that mate. Band aid, Kleenex and Hoover, Sheetrock, scotch tape....are no longer market leaders because the propriety name was hijacked by other value models that took the market. Therefore anything that is called Legos and is another building brick brand cheapens the name, which I guess is why they are so sensitive about it. They must be on to something, they are now the leading toy manufacturer on the planet....

I guess I don't see that...

I don't know who the market leaders are in all of those examples, but with the exception of hoover and sheetrock, I use all of the other name brands (as well as Q-Tip). I think part of the issue is they're more commodity type items vs. where name brand vs. other matters much. I think it's also possible they're not market leaders because they rested on their laurels vs. continuing to improve or innovate. The main difference I see in Lego is they're CONSTANTLY releasing new kits and designing new pieces/parts. As a matter of fact, many kits I've bought (mostly Star Wars) have so many custom shaped pieces, many times you can't see the characteristic pegs or dimples of Lego.

I understand wanting to stay the market leader, I just don't think it's as simple as people using the name ubiquitously.
