DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Did someone hit you?

No...

Glad no one was hurt and the car is driveable but sounds like a bad day.

Yeah...

So. Last night I get a call to come in early and work 16hrs. Shoot. Already promised DD I'd drive her to school since it's cold (-40)
It takes me 30 minutes to drive to work. I ask to take my lunch hour early and race home to pick her up. Pick her up and promptly hit a patch of ice and wind up on top of a snow (ice/snow chunks) bank.
Run back home to get shovel. Shovel out car. Get help from 3 guys and push the car out. Drive her to school.
Get back to work an hour late. (Guys are great, they covered for me)

Get text from DD. Classes were canceled.

Haven't read. So prayers/pixie dust/congrats as needed.

I am not having a good day. Good news is the car is still drivable and no one was hurt.

No...

Yeah...

Oh man, that sucks.
Not the no one was hurt part...that doesn't suck.

The Rum has found it's way to me :cool1:

I don't see the rum in this picture. Did you drink it all already?

Kids are soft. Get off my lawn!

That has nothing to do with cancelling school though. Majority of kids over here don't own a winter coat, boots or gloves and given some are on a bus for more than an hour one way it isn't safe if the bus breaks down.

::yes:: Preaching to the choir. Not sure why it has to be a political issue. But, Governor Thanos always had coats and heat and a safe ride to school.

You're a good dad, which is why you're on this thread I reckon. My oldest dd's friend wrecked their car last night on the ice. My dd wasn't in the car. No one hurt. But, it just got real for my daughter.

Complaining about Disney prices? Good thing you have those APs to save so much money while at wdw. :lmao:

Not complaining about the cost but the price of the injustice that has been done:eek:. I know (and is already added into the budget) before I even get to the room I already bought 2 pints of rum and a big bottle of premade Jose Cuervo margarita :drinking1 usually have to go back for more:thumbsup2. As a adult booze that has been lost is about the same as a 5yr old that just lost their Mickey ballon:faint::rotfl2:.

Morning Chaps, from a decidedly frosty -4c London. The boys has gone athletics this morning, that's gonna clear out the cobwebs a bit.

Which half?
Let's all pray it's the top half in the slow reveal.
Or that's the August Calendar picture sewn up.

Very nice. Is that a particularly dark rum or is there a cheeky coke in there?
Good to see you got the Norm-esque stray foot in the picture.

Have a spiffing Thursday brethren, and may your day be an unlimited refill of Lapu Lapus.

Yesterday about noon we had a snow squall blow through here with white out conditions. About a hour or so later, it hit PA and caused a 40 car pile up. Were you in PA yesterday?

No...

Yeah...

Well, Beverly!!! Guess you were to busy to be in PA...

Morning folks.
Bit stiff this morning. Gotta work out cobwebs too.

Oh man, that sucks.
Not the no one was hurt part...that doesn't suck.

Thanks Doc.

Wow! Thanks!

Yep. That’ll do it. I remember graduating from high school and a girl was killed over the summer in a car crash. Gets all too real all too quickly.

Sorry buddy. Here's hoping' for a better Thursday. At least you weren't hurt.

Thanks. Just a bit sore.

Whoa. Nasty.

Ugh. I'm glad you're surrounded by a host of people willing to help out!

Is that a particularly dark rum or is there a cheeky coke in there?

As opposed to a regular coke?

I feel bad for those guys, but I'm so glad I didn't have to deal with it.

Morning all. Survived tennis last night and picked up another match this morning. Thankfully, it's all the old guys today so nobody runs and we just hit, spin, slice the ball at each other till someone hits it in the net. One of those unspoken rules.

We usually pick up a case of water and a case of beer while there. But, it's nice to try some Mexican tequila even at Disney prices.

I drink to your lapu lapu. At least I'm known for a stray foot and not something else dangling in the picture.

That is a scary situation. I tried to stay home and avoid everything yesterday.
