DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Having a good time here at AKL.Only down side is my luggage is lost. Wife got hers just mine is missing. I don't really care about the clothes, there were 2
40ozs of Rum in there. :guilty:
Is it possible it got stopped by customs because of the rum?
Anything I can get for you? Several stores within minutes of work and home.

Happy Tuesday. Bought a new phone today, and an entry into the world of Android. So far, so good. Not as intuitive as Apple, but a whole lot cheaper

I find that fascinating. When I first started researching Disney on the DIS years ago, there was nothing that could touch Le Cellier. And getting an ADR there was not easy.

It has been a difficult ADR. Haven't been back since signature switch

::yes:: Is it a power play? What's the up for them for the sabotage?
.

DW had a hard time at Shulas. Definitely a shady group, or at least full of convention people acting like they were above everyone - not the Disney umbrella feel.

I've tried to figure out the sabotage. Jealousy? I'm the only over 40 Male, so that's doubtful. Sexy? No, I'm fat. My guess is that I do a 40 hour week job in 20 hours. While I'm terrifically efficient, I know that I can't do it God. And, there is no chance any of them want my job. So, I don't get it.

I used to do 16-18 days, when I had more time and more money, before I started this 8-5 daily grind. It's a great break from the real world.
First 7 or 8 days we would rent a house, relax (and drink) by the private pool, then 10 days at Disney. Probably would work better the other way around, need a break after the parks. But it was nice either way. I cut my August trip down to 10 days due to vacation time from work and cost cutting.

3 weeks sounds even better. I take that time off in the summer, but I'm home with the kids. So, it's not really an escape

I absolutely loved Le Cellier. Thought it was the best restaurant at WDW. Then they changed it to a "Signature" restaurant, screwed up the menu, and it hasn't been the same since.

Yachtsman was really good the one time I went there. And I really liked the prime rib at Turf Club.

Haven't been back to Le Cellier, but that's what I heard in those reviews. There is so much good food to eat in Epcot, so we just skip it now. That prime rib was amazing at Turf Club.

In addition to others listed Boathouse is really good too

Never tried the steak at boathouse, only the seafood. Maybe I'll try the Surf n Turf next time. Continued prayers.

Same here. I would never use up 2 credits on one meal.

We did Signature Dining Deluxe Dining Plan one trip. It was a lot of money and a lot of food, but it was terrific. Tried a lot of good restaurants, some ones I would return to, and others I wouldn't. My goal is still to do Victoria & Albert's, although I'm afraid of the bill.

I don't know the first two are just steak places, but...

Cali Grill (steak on brunch menu)
Tiffins
Turf club

Haven't done Shula's or Le Cellier simply because I can't justify that much money as much as I love a good steak. I had a hard time justifying the expense at Cali grill, but if I do it again, I will focus mostly on the steak and not have as much of the other stuff that filled me up too much.

Haven't tried Tiffins yet. Family likes Yak n Yeti at AK, so that is usually one of repeat meals. DW also has Landry card, so no reservations needed.

In the office and taking a break. Decided it was either jump on here for a minute or a couple of fingers of ouzo. You should be impressed you rate so well!

I would have went with the ouzo. :lmao:

Good luck on the luggage. Have a great trip.

This is pretty much the reasoning Le Cellier is not on my list, I to use to love it but it drank it's own kool-aid raised prices changed menu and since it's still popular you are rushed through service:eek:. You can get much better quality and fair better service at not much more price at Shula's and you can walk to from there. :thumbsup2

The US customs allows you to bring it in checked luggage.I claimed it going through US customs and all was ok there.

Hope it shows up soon.

I hope they find it, or maybe:scratchin it's going to my room fri:drinking1really I hope they find it, at the resort a pint of rum is like $16 something plus tax has to bring it to at least $18 x 5 = at least $90 US :scared1:

Morning chaps from a bright but chilly London. 3 hrs of tennis on the agenda today.

I think you may have nailed the reason why your bag is AWOL. Look out for 2 drunk baggage handlers in MCO.

Everyone try to stay warm and be safe - dang Canadians left all the doors open this time.
They're normally pretty good with Jeff's side door that comes my way - they must have forgot when they put the cat out.
I'm with ya, not a fan of steak sauces I don't like ruining a good steak flavor.
I don't like smothered sauces either. You just keep it on the side of your plate and dab a bit on when you feel like it.

Well that's January for the Disdads pin up calendar 2020 sorted.
Not as intuitive as Apple, but a whole lot cheaper
I'm the same. I know I should dump Apple, but I'm hooked into their universe.
I've tried to figure out the sabotage.
My money's on sexy. Show 'em a little sugar and see what happens :hyper:
Hope it works out buddy

Have a great day chaps.

I noticed. -33C/-27F

Beautiful day in Winterpeg!
I shouldn't laugh. I could send you a picture of the mountain of snow still on my front lawn, and that's after half of it melted over the last couple weeks.

It hasn't been too cold here - relatively speaking. -4C here today and it actually rained on Monday.
It's the boys in the middle that have botched it all up.

Well that's January for the Disdads pin up calendar 2020 sorted.
:rotfl2:
You got me with that one!
Now I'm afraid to see the July pin up photo #budgiesmugglers

Morning boys, from a slightly chilly -40 morning.
I stalled the car twice on the way to work. It's so cold that the clutch only s l o w l y would release. Ah well, it started, so... bonus.

Well that's January for the Disdads pin up calendar 2020 sorted.

I'm thinking this might be better:

We haven't had the massive snowfalls that you guys have had this year. At least I don't have to shovel the cold.

Now I'm afraid to see the July pin up photo #budgiesmugglers

No! Do not post a photo of that!!!

Morning!
It's 0 degrees F (actual temp) here in STL.
But because we can't let kids get cold waiting for the bus, school is canceled. Not for nothing, but I've camped in 0degrees, and cooked breakfast outside.
Why are we canceling school because of cold?
(My cousin in N. Dakota has -20 air temp, and they are going to school today.)

Seriously, people are getting soft. I am too, but that's from beer, pop tarts, and a lack of exercise. My constitution is fine.

Morning all. 9 degrees and snow on the ground. Every school system including Universities closed. Governor Thanos calls kids "soft" for not going to school. We just turn everything into a political issue now.

And a whole lot better.

Have to say I like Apple better. But, this is cheaper. I figured out everything except how to link emails to native calendar app, but I think that is a work security requirement to use outlook.

I hope they find it, or maybe:scratchin it's going to my room fri:drinking1really I hope they find it, at the resort a pint of rum is like $16 something plus tax has to bring it to at least $18 x 5 = at least $90 US :scared1:

Complaining about Disney prices? Good thing you have those APs to save so much money while at wdw. :lmao:

Supposed to play tennis tonight. I'm hoping they cancel because I don't want to be cold.

Same here with the sauce. I like the flavor of the steak. Funniest thing I ever saw has at Shulas steakhouse when someone dropped $50 on a steak and asked the waiter for A1. I think the waiter thought he was being punked.

Thanks. I'm working the extra job to make a mad dash to get the house paid off, in case Governor Thanos gets his way here with the retirement system. It helps to know I can bail.

Schools are open here, but when the windchill drops below -45 (it's -48 right now) they do cancel the busses.

Darcy already said this, but I agree....better than apple.
As with anything, there are pros and cons to everything
Android
Pros - can transfer files with ANY computer and via SD card
Cheaper
Better (I think) background app management
Upgrading OS doesn't almost guarantee your device will be dog slow

Cons - not as consistent interface. Different versions and different phone manufacturers have settings or buttons in different places.

Both -
Can do things without the express written approval of apple. In other words, the app doesn't have to have Apple's blessing to work. The reason this is both, it gives you much more flexibility, but more risk associated with it.

For apple, pretty much reverse the pros and cons above.

Not gloating, but colder than normal here in Orlando too...51. They're talking about 30s or 40s next couple of days also. Considering how often (seldom) weather folks are right, I'm hopeful for the thermometer going the other direction. Stay warm. Would love to have y'all come visit to escape the cold.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Staying home today to help out with in-laws musical chairs. MIL is planned to be sent home today as her surgery went well, she has to walk 50 ft on her own to head home though so we will see but she is a tough ole lady. FIL not as good as he is scheduled to be transferred to long care health facility with rehab. It’s a good place and close to us so could be worse but not sure he’s gonna make it back home.

Everyone stay safe with this Elsa weather. Ain’t what up north is dealing with but it’s snowing and sticking here this morning with single digits for tonight. C’mon man this is Nashville!

Bloody tempting right now, I'll tell ya.

Sounds like you have things in motion. Hope it all works out.

-12C and snowing? That's called Tuesday around here.
I joke, but like I've said before, I know you guys just aren't used to it and don't have the equipment we have here to deal with all that.
Do you get to enjoy a day off?

Would love to have y'all come visit to escape the cold.
If you're paying for the trip, I'll be there for lunch tomorrow.:p
