Carp. Hurt my knee last night playing tennis and can't put any weight on it. Went to the doctor for some pain meds and MRI. Regular x-ray is fine, so waiting for insurance to improve. Anyone done Disney on crutches?![]()

Gentlemen, there is a period of time in every man's life in which he goes through a "dry spell". Now this dry spell could be related to not having your drink of choice for some time, to not getting a hit or scoring a goal in a while, or even something along the lines of not seeing Jasmine's magic carpet for a while.
My friends, my dry spell has been four years. In four long years I have not had a Dole Whip or the superior (yes, I said it) citrus swirl, I have not had a Mickey bar, Mickey waffle, Mickey crispy treat, Mickey...well you get the picture. I had been used to seeing the World with my family every year or so. But then things happened. Job changes, financial changes, some medical stuff, all keeping us as the "have not family" wondering when that day might come again.
Well, as a man once said "one day the sun will shine and have not will be no more". Gentlemen, for me that day will be the 17th of August, 2018. Yes, the vacation days have been approved by the boss, the hotel has been booked, the flights have been purchased, and it's all over but the crying (tears of joy...until the visa statement comes, then it's different tears).
I'm happy to report that my family will be staying at All Star Music from August 17-27, 2018.
I was never sure if this trip would ever happen, and it will be a little different than my other trips. I've never been to either of the All Stars. I have nothing against them, and they seem nice enough. But we settled into being a "moderate" family. The deluxe resorts look beautiful and I'm sure they are. But without being DVC, they are a bit hard on my wallet. The moderates gave us two sinks, queen beds, which for a family of four (three ladies), it was nice. Looking at another trip, I knew I had to take a different financial approach. I'm not where I was four years ago. This trip there will be no Universal, no shopping spree, fewer days overall. When the free dining came out, I started thinking about it. I nearly missed it all, the rooms are so limited for free dining. By the time I got the vacation days approved and looked at prices, the only thing left in free dining was preferred rooms at ASMu. But I'm sure it will be great.
Any of you stayed at All Star Music before? Any suggestion or recommendation/tips?
Anyone going to the World those dates? I remember some of you are going, just can't remember when (I didn't pay as much attention when I though I wouldn't be there!)
Congrats!
We've stayed at All Star Movies on our first trip and and All Star Sports on our last trip. As far as values go we prefer Pop Century but sometimes you go where the deal takes you. Overall they are great resorts as long as you aren't there where cheer groups are there, they tend to take over the resort and seeing pictures of 8 and 9 year old girls completely made up in the room windows is a little unnerving. Rooms are pretty standard and for the most part you shouldn't have to share a bus. The one thing I didn't like was the location, just seemed far from everything except AK.
Yes, go Jets! I have a hard time believing I'm writing that, but the alternatives are a bit mind boggling. Really Dan, can you imagine a Tampa-Las Vegas final? In what universe do we live? You'll have to try finding the puck this time and see if the Jets can pull it off tonight.
Seeing the Jets move on would be nice but seeing Fleury in the final with Vegas would make me happy after the Penguins tossed him aside last year.
