DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I have an HVAC mechanic headed to the house to check the system later today so I hope to have a better idea of what's going on in the near. Of course, not knowing the extent of the problem or its required solution means that I have no idea just how bad the monitory damage will be. That's a "Known Unknown" that I'd rather not be dealing with right now.

That stinks. Definitely a bill nobody wants to have to pay.

Best of luck with that, hope it's something minor like just a charge.
Good news, 2 sunny days in a row and the river has started to drop. Another day or two and hopefully some cleanup will start.
Great news that relief, though lots of work, may be on the way to those in need

Good luck with AC, floods and dental visits.
Well...
at least the offerings of good luck toward a receding flood and good dental visits are still viable.

My unknown-known is now a known-known and it ain't a particularly good thing to know.
The unit is basically on the verge of total meltdown. I can patch it up of 2G or replace it for 5G.
The patch option would likely not even last the summer, so the decision kind'a makes itself rather evident.
Just? Hardly, but most certainly evident.

Ouch. I'm sorry to hear that.

Oof. Sorry Rob, that's a nasty one.

Is this the one with the hideous Irish Accent?

Dan, see if you can send some of that sunny weather Darcy's way.

:tink:

Have a good rest of your Tuesday chaps....

Sorry to hear it, Rob. Is it worth a 2nd opinion? Especially if it is a replacement unit?

Morning gents.
Gotta wait one more day to see if the Jets will advance or not. I think the whole city is holding its breath.
It's pretty amazing, actually. You can't go more than a few feet without seeing a "Go Jets Go" sign somewhere.

Morning Guys,

Another sunny day and things are slowly returning to normal. Most of the flooded streets have been cleaned up and opened. Still a lot of water but the river is dropping noticeably. The water flow through the dam just north of here was about 5.2 millions liters per second yesterday; by Saturday that should drop to just over 2 million.

Have a good one all.

'Morning all...
"And ain't it a lovely morning..."

Is it worth a 2nd opinion? Especially if it is a replacement unit?
I certainly could, but I'm already dealing with one of the better outfits in the area and the price asked for the unit being installed in actually very competitive based on what research I've been able to do. The old one is well out of warranty and right in the range of service expectancy for our climate (and it does have some serious problems). It also uses a refrigerant that is restricted and in mid phase-out so future repairs to try and baby it onward will get progressively even more expensive as the price per pound of R22 continues to sky rocket. It's not good timing to be sure, but I believe that it's in my best interest to do the work now. Besides, upgraded A/C unites return more then their original value on home appraisals; especially this far south.

At first, I was thinking to myself: "Jets... Playoffs?... what the..."
but then I remembered: D'ho! Canada... Hockey!
I've no dog in that fight to be sure, so I'll back you team for now.
Go Jets.

Better is good.
Hate it for those that still have repairs to look forward to but glad that things are moving back toward normal.

The Keys were a nice distraction. Still some crap left over from Irma but it is getting better.

Sounds like you're enjoying retirement / semi-retirement or whatever you are calling it.

I could use more money but yes, I am enjoying it.

As the BBQ festival, I stay away. It's good food, but one heck of a crowd. I'd rather just go to Moonlite BBQ, open all the time, and get the BBQ buffet and eat myself into a coma. Bourbon bar for dessert.

BBQ is a bit of a desert down here so I would definitely go. If I ever make it up there again, Moonlite would be a stop I would go out of my way to eat there. I like the suggestion of the Bourbon bar for dessert. I'll just sleep in my car after rolling out of there.

Good news, 2 sunny days in a row and the river has started to drop. Another day or two and hopefully some cleanup will start.

Thank goodness. Hope the damage was not too bad.

Man, that sucks. Good luck on the fix/replacement.

Same thoughts here.
