DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all. School is out and DW and i took the week off work as well. We plan to seen the new Xmen movie this week. Otherwise, it is just some time out of the office.

This sounds very much like my evening.
Well, except I'm at work and I'll probably have McDonalds.

!!!

Did you order the McCrap? Wait, that's the whole menu. :lmao:

The ribs came out drop dead perfect. Fall off the bone and still moist. Tried a new rub and it has a bit of a kick to it so I may add a little more brown sugar. Also tried a mustard based sauce I picked up in Georgia on a couple of them. Interesting but I think it would be better on chicken. Still a few left for dinner tomorrow.

About an hour into the three hour process. Failed to get a final pic, too ready to dig in.
.

Those ribs do look great.

Well, "run" is a relative term. If you can walk fairly fast, you can probably stay below the 16min/mile pace Disney uses. As long as you aren't worried about your actual pace and final time to complete, you get the medal either way. I can walk a 5k fairly comfortably between a 14 and 15 minute pace. If you add in some interval jogs along the way, you can knock that down to around a 13 minute pace so you can probably participate in a Disney Run event and get that medal. ::yes::

DW wants to do one together. We walked the Susan Koman 5K with her dad in an hour. FIL in bad health, so we went slow with him. To walk a 5K in 15 minute, that is 5 MPH? That's a jog speed for me on the treadmill and I can only sustain that for a minute or so.

Holy crap those look good!
I had..... Wendy's....

Better than McDonald's McCrap.

They look awesome. The queuing though? We need to talk about ADR's or FP for your house. Or I would be willing to pay for Club level.

Sorry, this in only available to DVC members staying on CJ's property on points. :lmao:

Happy Memorial Day to all of you south of the border.

CJ, those ribs look amazing. Just what was needed to set me up for our Rib Fest later this week.

Got our buts kicked in soccer last night but according to my Fitbit I ran about 3 miles. So I guess that a win and so was the two beer after the game.

Have a good one!

Clearing up here this morning. Watched the race in two chunks (before and after work.)
Surprise finish! Who is that kid? Still, happy for Andretti racing to pull out another win. Was definitely hoping either Helio or TK could pull out a win though.

Taking a few minutes to DIS, then take dogs for a stroll, lunch and then off to work. Nice lazy way to start the day at least!

Happy Memorial Day,

Went to Key Largo to celebrate. Actually went down there for breakfast but stayed for happy hour. Stopped by the dive place to see the instructor that will be certifying the boyfriend. After that, it was over to the Holiday Inn for some pool time and a stop at the Tiki Bar. (Don't tell anyone because it is supposed to only be for hotel guests but considering the number of stays there, they better cut me some slack). Thoroughly enjoyable day. Hope everyone else's was the same.

Cocktails by the pool

I had..... Wendy's....

Sorry about that. Ribs are all gone but if you want, I can send you some bones to gnaw on.

Bones to gnaw on would be better than the Wendy's I had.
I was going to threaten you with disclosing your poolside shenanigans to Holiday Inn... but I see it's not necessary.

3.1 miles X 16 minute/mile pace = just shy of 50 minutes to complete. You went slow with the FIL and did it in an hour. You only have to speed up enough to gain just over 10 minutes. And trust me, I wasn't able to do it the first time out. You have to build up to it, but the good news is..........you have to register for a Disney run event with lots of time to prepare for the actual event.

Good Morning Guys. It a Monday on a Tuesday.:goodvibes

Thanks. I'm hoping to be able to run a 5K or longer race one day and complete a Disney run event. One day. It may be the same day pigs fly or I won the lotto, but some day.

You kind of just have to sign up and that forces you to get into decent shape. DD and I are shooting for 10 minute miles in January. We figure a relaxed jog should get us close to that. We are at a jog for mile 1 and fast walk for the remaining 2+ right now we are around 13 minute average with that. The benefit is that with softball season coming up, that 60 foot run between the bases will be a little easier.

If I win the lotto, I'll pay someone to run for me.:lmao::lmao::rotfl2:

The plan for DD and I is to do 5K this year, 5K and 10K the next year. After that we'll see about the half, but seriously doubt my knee would take 13 miles. Not even sure the doctor would be happy about the 10K. Good luck in your training and we'll have to make sure to say hi in January.

Morning Guys.

Welcome back to work.

:scared::scared: Month end close today, traveling to Binghamton NY(5.5 hour drive) on Thursday and preparing for June 30 year end. It's going to be a looonnnggggg week. :faint:

Happy Tuesday. Tried the new Meijer that opened nearby. Nice selection, but too expensive compared to my current Kroger's/Sam's shopping plan.

Got our buts kicked in soccer last night but according to my Fitbit I ran about 3 miles. So I guess that a win and so was the two beer after the game.
!

Congrats on the running and beers.

Did you find a place in the swamp for the new boyfriend? :lmao:

I'm competitive, so I want to be able to run it in 15-20 minutes.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Short work week for most and especially me with heading out Thursday :-)

Have a great trip.

Welcome back to work.

Not for me. Vacation.

:

I'm in better tennis shape than I've been in years, but not enough yet for a run. One day.....

True story, they found an alligator eating pieces of a corpse in Broward County today. I have visual proof that it was not the boyfriend. I did point it out to him though. Moral of the story, bodies are easily disposed of in South Florida. You just need to bring them further out in the Everglades.

Just keep driving west on I-86 for a bunch of miles and you will drive over where our house sat until the state confiscated the land from my parents. They Moved the house 900 yards when I was 6.

Nothing new on the budget news other than a dollar figure. The department needs to cut just shy of $100K. It is going to be ugly but I should make it through.

God evening Disdads! We got back home yesterday from a trip to WDW. I attended the Disney Institute's Leadership Excellence training course held at the Boardwalk Inn. The training course was pretty epic. I learned a lot about how Disney intentionally creates their magic through leadership strategies and got to do a few behind the scenes (backstage) activities. And my wife had fun touring the parks with my kids while I was in class.

Absolutely no pressure, but if you like to read trip reports, I just started one for this trip. It's titled, "We're Following the Leader… to the Disney Institute! (A business/family trip to WDW)" If you are interested, hop on along over to the thread: http://www.disboards.com/threads/we...titute-a-business-family-trip-to-wdw.3515428/

Cheers!

Nice pics and glad you had a good trip. My group did a Disney Institute session there on customer service and we got a lot out of that as well. See ya stopped at rock City - that's between the home and kids college at UT Chattanooga

Here's hoping it works out for you!

Sounds cool. The more I work, the more I see the need for good leadership.

Hey All, we made it to June!!!

Was off the boards for a couple, so... beer, booze, bacon, babes.
