DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Turning in my dad card. I've failed. :(

A week ago our electric teakettle quit working. The kids and SWMBO used it for making tea, hot chocolate etc. After a week of trying to explain to them that we have a cupboard full of things called "pans" that you could use to heat water in on this thing called a "stove", I gave in and bought them a new electric tea kettle. God help them. :sad2:

I hope the rest of you are doing a better job, because if this is what is going to be running the world we are up the proverbial creek.

Welcome to the club!
Finally nice to not be here by myself.

After a week of trying to explain to them that we have a cupboard full of things called "pans" that you could use to heat water in on this thing called a "stove", I gave in and bought them a new electric tea kettle. God help them. :sad2:

:lmao:

I gave in and bought them a new electric tea kettle.

Ok, I understand them wanting a new kettle, don't understand the electric part. What do they do when the power goes out? I think I would have gone with something in this direction...

... just say'n...

When the power goes out, do you use that on your wood stove?

Go right ahead. Key's under the mat.
If it's not there, just bust a window.
Help yourself to whatever's in the fridge.

I was tempted, given the excessive traffic. We left around 11:30 ET and made it home after 1:30 PM ct, which is about 3 hours of delays. I'm thinking about flying next trip.

I could have picked you up one of those fancy thing around the 1920s from the Carousel of Progress. :lmao:

I think most of us have failed those arguments. I've thrown out so many George Foreman grills or similar cooking things. We talk about the budget, I put it into a spread sheet, and then DW chooses which categories she wants to follow. :lmao:

Sunday.
Had a nice birthday supper for DD19(!) yesterday. Her boyfriend was there too. He's a good kid so I hardly had to wave around the sharp knives at all.

Today DD15's having some friends over to watch.... Saturday Night Fever.

Oh god... You mean my girls are going to date one day?????? I think I am going to be sick..

Prepare thyself.
May I suggest stocking up on oversized knives and purchasing a shotgun?

Everything here in Appalachia is electric or propane. The vacation :headache: house has natural gas which I much prefer for cooking and heating.

I don't even bother talking about it or a spreadsheet anymore. I just let them know that if I end up on the underside of the sod there will be enough insurance to pay off the house and bills and maybe keep them solvent until the youngest is 18. After that they are on their own.

I told mine she can date when she is 35 or I'm senile. She is hoping for senility.

All set. And I have access to heavy equipment and 10,000 acres of deep forest land.

I live on a small farm, with a nature preserve on two sides of my property. I guess I could always remind the boys when they come around, that I served in the service, and know where to hide unfortunate accidents.

Just to be clear, I worked on boilers in the service, and did boiler water, and fuel oil testing. I actually never touched a firearm, so if the boy learns my old rating in the Navy, he might figure out that it is a mute threat. :)

There seems to be a trend here...

Morning Guys,

Got back from Key Largo yesterday afternoon. Nothing new to report on, just a good time was had by all.

Getting ready for the drive home. Or, I could just drive to CJ's house. Hmmmm..... :lmao: :scared1:

Didn't see the trailer when I got home so I guess you headed north instead of south.

Sunday.

Happy birthday to both DD's. I like how you "hardly" had to wave the knives. Understated but he was reminded they are at the ready.

Oh god... You mean my girls are going to date one day?????? I think I am going to be sick..

Nah, don't worry about it. If you believe that, I have some swampland in the Everglades that you can have for a steal.

All set. And I have access to heavy equipment and 10,000 acres of deep forest land.

I have the Everglades a few miles to the west of me and the ocean a couple of mile east. No need for heavy equipment, maybe just a little cement. If any of you other guys need a dumping ground, let me know.

Morning Gents!

Another week is upon us, where did the weekend go?

Hope you all have a good one.

Good morning all. Oldest is home today sick, as she ran a fever yesterday and vomited as well. Better home than on vacation. She is the absolute worst sick person to be around. So, I get another day off to relax from the vacation and all the laundry yesterday.

There is always the convent.

.

I insisted on natural gas for cooking and had the line installed. Our heat us also natural gas. I still do the budget, but i over fill other categories to offset the ones I know she will go over on.

Happy Birthday to the dds.

Good Morning All. Another weekend in the books and on to Monday. It almost feels like Mondays come every week. Saw Zootopia yesterday with DD, thought it was just OK. I guess I was expecting it to be funnier than it actually was. DD enjoyed it, but I think she was a little bored at certain points. Can't wait for The Jungle Book this weekend. It looks awesome from the trailers. Carry on and have a great week.

Yes they are.

Good Morning sir!:wave2: Clearly you are not welcome at the drop off. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

DD was asking over the weekend what happened to the penguin guy from the dads group. I think she misses all of the fun graphics. I just told her you were kidnapped by the polar bears.

Turning in my dad card. I've failed. :(

We just use the microwave and a coffee cup. :confused3:scratchin

It would be 22-24 hours of driving for us. We fly as I'm not sure all 4 of us would survive the trip. :car: It's more expensive, but I can get on a plane and be there in about the same amount of time as waiting for TSMM in the standby line.:thumbsup2:rotfl:

Good Morning Darcy!

Good morning Norm. Hope DD feels better soon and you don't get the bug. I'm not allowed to do the laundry. Apparently you have to separate the colors from whites, use hot and cold water and only certain things go in the dryer.:confused3:faint: No wonder it takes most people a long time to do the laundry.
