DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
OK. Someone tell the village idiot (that's me) how to upload an avatar. Every time I try to do it, I get a message saying that the image is too big.
Found these instructions, might help:

You can try the following steps and check if it helps:

a. Open Windows Photo Gallery by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Photo Gallery.

b. Click the picture that you want to send in e‑mail.

To e‑mail more than one picture, hold down the CTRL key while you click the other pictures you want.

c. On the toolbar, click e‑mail.

d. In the Attach Pictures and Files dialog box, select a picture size from the Picture size list, and then click Attach.

Windows will automatically resize the picture and attach it to an e‑mail message.

It's for emailing, but Windows Photo Gallery might make them smaller according to random posting on the internet.

Yep, I come here to feel smart.

You came to the right place.

No, but I notice this is the second time you misspelled "neighbor". British? Canadian?

Kind of you not to mention that I misspelled "you're" that first time too.
I deliberately spell it (correctly) as neighbour just so my readers don't forget I'm a foreign devil (who happens to live just north of you)

They were a great employer for everyday except the last one. Top 100 companies to work for 8 years in a row.

Huh. So then you'd expect a little better at the end.

I did a bit of snooping and think your photo can't be bigger than 1MB.

Back from the dead....here to re-introduce myself. Didn't realize it's been 18 months since I posted, but life gets in the way, I guess.

-Todd. Kentucky. Two girls, 11 and 7.

-My occupation? It's still complicated.

-Kentucky basketball, Cleveland Indians baseball. Jason Day.

-Next Disney trip? Summer of 2017, first time to Disneyland. Is it too early to start researching snack options? Hope not.

-Spending my spring juggling three sports schedules, a yard that is the saddest in the neighborhood, and trying to get into some semblance of health(down 45 pounds so far).

Glad to be back in your company, gentlemen.

Man, I didn't realize there were other Cleveland Indians fans out there.

Man, I didn't realize there were other Cleveland Indians fans out there.

Didn't grow up as one. Grew up going to Reds games without ever having any real emotional attachment to the team. Lived in Cleveland from 97-2000 when they were in that amazing run. Couldn't help but get swept up in it. Pretty rare to find Tribe fans down here in KY. And when I do wear Cleveland gear, people give me a "well bless your heart" sympathy look.

Morning All.

What is this Cleveland Indians team you guys are talking about? Some minor league team or something?

Most of us look at one another in Cleveland with the same look. :)

So as my trip date gets nearer, I am thinking of tchotchke's that the kids will want to buy, and I am thinking of steering them to certain things that might be fun/cool. Is there a place to find some of the prices for some of the items out there? Like at Epcot, there is that pick a pearl thing, never done it, never really thought of doing it, but with three daughters I am sure one of them might want to do it.

We usually get Disney gift cards and then give each daughter the gift cards throughout the trip, so that they have their own money. This year, the wife and I were talking, and we think we are going to let them use their magic bands to buy things, and then we will pay them off with the gift cards. And actually, can we 'load' the gift cards onto our account when we first get to Disney so I don't have to worry about going to the front desk and having them load them after we buy things.

How does everyone else handle letting the kids spend some money, and limiting what they can spend, and make it easy so dad doesn't have to have a sharpie and a zillion gift cards in his wallet??

We usually have a gift card with us that we got from using our Disney Visa card, and just give each girl a budget. The hard part we run into is convincing the girls to wait and see everything during the trip before deciding what they want to get. Invariably the DD7 will see something on our second day at a park we won't be going back to during the trip(like DHS or AK), and want to go ahead and spend her money on it. It's always hard making them wait until they've seen everything at all the parks and Springs before making a choice.

Usually, by the time the end of the trip rolls around, she's forgotten about that original item anyway and just goes with something from the park we're visiting on the last day.

Yeah, that's why I tend to divide the money into thirds, so they get a third on day 1, a third in the middle, and a third on the last full day. It has worked, and if they want that one 'big' item they have to wait until the last day. So they usually end up with a bunch of little things, except for my oldest who is a miser with her money, she ends up buying stuff on the last day.

This year we are flying, so the size of the items that they want will matter on what they get as well. My youngest just turned 7 in January, so I think she will most likely be the one who wants to buy everything. My 12 and 9 year old's are usually a little more discerning. Sometimes.... ;)

Afternoon all. Back to work after vacation and sick days, well a 1/2 day. It felt good to escape the house.

Remind me where from on KY? It's been 18 months. There are three of us from KY.

We buy for our dds. They bring their own cash they have earned from chores, but we already told them up front we will buy them 1 souvenir each.

Near Lexington. You're from near Owensboro, right? I remember us talking about Moonlite vs. Old Hickory.

Running around the last couple of days so haven't caught up here yet. Yesterday, we decided to head to the Keys for the day to eat at my all time favorite breakfast place and then visit a bartender we like at the Tiki Bar. A day of food, sun and pool time. Sucks to be a tour guide.

Monday, I cooked this. Hope it meets with the approval of Norm and the other dads from real BBQ states. Have to tell you, it was good.

Will try to catch up later.

It crossed my mind, but the HR lady was standing right there. I couldn't even grab my old reviews to help build a resume.
