DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Happy Friday! I very much enjoyed watching Villanova stomp on Miami. Planning on a pasta weekend. Sausage and peppers tonight and start the sauce. Maybe stuffed shells for tomorrow. Enjoy the weekend guys (at least those of us that have weekends off).

I'll through in one last reminder for you older (not necessarily more mature gents). One week left in colon cancer awareness month. Protect all your ASSets and get screened.

Good point. I am due one next year.

Draining day here.

Sorry to hear about your mom, hope everything goes smoothly.

At least I am still on the green side of the sod.

So are we all. At least right now.

Okay all, when I go to POR in August it is over the wife and I's 16 anniversary. I was thinking of getting flowers delivered to the room that would be there when we arrived. Does Disney do that sort of thing?

Disney does do this, I think. Someone might have the link, thought I did but can't find it. It will cost you. I would talk to 1-800-flowers and see what they can do for you.

What Randall said. When I tried to get a $50 gift card to the kid when she was up there, they directed me to the flower place. They wanted $30 just to deliver the card to the hotel. Umm, no! If you can get them delivered to the hotel from an outside vender you could always go to bell services and have them deliver it to the room for a couple of bucks. Either that or the front desk could give them to her when you arrive. They may or may not do that.

Fun morning so far. DD heads out to go to church. It's 30 minutes out of town... You know, where the boyfriend is. Not long after, the BF calls to tell us she's in the ditch.

She's fine. By the time we got there, some Good Samaritan was already hooking up to pull her out. She was shaken up and had a little melt down. Car only had a flat tire which seems to be holding air.

Glad she is safe. Maybe a higher power is telling her the BF is not a good idea perhaps?

Morning everyone, Happy Easter!

Having a bit a a freezing rain storm here today and that has put off our travel plans to a volleyball tournament in hold. I guess that means we will be hitting the road around 6 am tomorrow to get to the tournament.

Instead of driving, we have 3 teenage boys in our family room playing Lego Rock Band. Sounds like someone is killing a cat in our basement. Who would have thought Kung Fu Fighting could sound like that?

Oh Oh, we are now on to the Jackson Five!

Won't add to your misery by telling you about the weather down here. It is supposed to rain buckets this afternoon/night though. Good luck and I hope you have plenty of liquid anesthesia around.

Oh man, glad to hear that she is okay. I have 4 more years until my oldest is 16...Not sure how I am going to deal with the whole my kids driving thing. I already don't have hair, so no idea what I will lose through that process, I can hope it will be my gut, but I doubt it.

Guess I better not tell you the stories of when Crash first got her license.

Oh man... I was such a good driver when I started driving. But I grew up on a farm, so was driving tractors and other machines from a young age. Maybe next year I will ship my daughter out to one of the farms to work for the summer, so she can crash a tractor or two prior to driving one of the family cars.....

My FIL is on Kissimmee Right now, had an email from him this morning and he said they had one of the worst thunder and lightning storms he has ever seem yesterday. Youo getting that as well?

Wish I would have thought of that.

Heading this way. Broward (Ft. Lauderdale) got slammed yesterday with localized flooding. One of the many interesting things living in Florida is when it storms, Mother Nature lets loose. About to start running some errands and hope to miss it.

Happy Good Friday. Had the day off and did some candy shopping for DW and dds. Will go to church later this evening.

Sad and thanks for the PSA. I'll through in one last reminder for you older (not necessarily more mature gents). One week left in colon cancer awareness month. Protect all your ASSets and get screened.

Draining day here. Interviewing for a new figurehead. First guy was good. Some of the same ideas I would have put forth if I wanted to submit myself to the abuse of applying and running the place. There is something to be said for less responsibility. Also DS and I were planning on heading north to the vacation :headache: home after the second candidates interview tomorrow,to join SWMBO and DD who went up yesterday. Car overheated when we ran to town. Most likely a bad head gasket. Guess we stay put. My mother also found out she needs to go in for cardioversion next month and we had planned on mom and dad coming south to meet us at the vacation:headache: home.

At least I am still on the green side of the sod.

My wife protects my A$$ with her paddle. :lmao:

 Thanks for the PSA. Prayers for your mom and sorry to hear about changing plans.

That big THUD you heard was my bracket crashing - had Miami and TX A&M in the final four >:(>:(
.

I stopped watching the brackets after UK lost.

Okay all, when I go to POR in August it is over the wife and I's 16 anniversary. I was thinking of getting flowers delivered to the room that would be there when we arrived. Does Disney do that sort of thing? I guess, I would actually need one big bouquet for the wife, and then three single flowers for each of my girls as well. Nothing over the top, and since we are flying the flowers will not be coming home with us, so it's not like I want a zillion dollar set of roses or something, just something for the wife to walk into the room and see sitting on the dresser or something. Anyone ever done anything like that?

Any ideas or thoughts? I have more than a few months to make it happen, so not anything that needs to be done immediately. :)

There is also the cake thing. They can bring a cake to a restaurant for dinner or just your room. Or, a white chocolate glass slipper. I keep meaning to do that one for DW.

That ditch must be treacherous with all the snow and penguins. :rotfl:

Glad to hear she is ok.

Same to you. Is the band taking requests?

I have 2 more years. My oldest is a terrible driver and holiday world and Indy cars at WDW. She'll be driving along and then go, "look at that" or as I say from the movie Up "squirrel", and the car jerks abruptly against the center guard rail. She did however drive better at the local go cart track.

13th in the pool may be as well as I do unless SUcks surprises everyone. Considering it is mainly based on wishful thinking I'll take that.

...Sorry to hear about the tough news - prayers for your mom.

I was a good driver starting out as well, but managed to roll a car on a wet, mountain curve two weeks before my 50th birthday. I'm turning into Jiminy Cricket lately with the PSAs and all, but just a reminder that just because must of us have been driving for a couple of decades, an accident can happen anytime. That is why they are called accidents and not "on purposes". I hope my kids learned from my wreck always wear seatbelts and will always take extra precautions. Only 2 years before my oldest starts driving and I'm not ready for it.

That ditch has it in for your DD and her boyfriend. ;)

At least she can say she made it about 1/2 mile further.
Plus only one flat compared to his two.

What hair I have left is going grey. Thanks kids!
My next one will start driving this summer.

Oh, God.

Happy extended weekend for those that have one and Happy Easter weekend to those that celebrate. Dinner Sunday as usual will be at our house with the Inlaws and whatever lost soles friends DW has invited. DD is home this weekend too so a nice friends and family weekend.
DS and I spent most of the day assembling new outdoor furniture as I decided time for couch, gliders, rocker and fire pit table to replace the standard patio table and chairs we had. Turned out to be a nice seating area which is good cause "seating" is all I'm gonna do the rest of the weekend :D

Morning all!

Top O the Mornin Dads! Enjoy the day.

Morning folks. That is all.

Afternoon everyone. Tennis this AM followed by lunch at the inlaws. Hoping to break free from here soon.

Evening all,

Not a bad day - 6 hours of driving for 6 hours of volleyball but the boys won a gold medal. They all played well in a tournament that they were much better than all the teams there, hopefully some tougher competition next weekend.

Hope you all had a great Saturday.
