DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

I'm somewhat skeptical after The Crystal Skull That Shall Not Be Named, but I have to admit, Ford showed me something in the last Star Wars movie. That was the first time he'd been awake in a movie for 20 years.

Happy Wednesday. I drove up to Louisville to visit my dad. His 84th birthday is next week, and I took him some coconut filled chocolate candy on Spring Break 1 Staycation. Nothing sitcom worthy, but a good visit.
Nice - wish him a Happy Birthday from the Dads .............

And late breaking news. I found out today that oldest dd was an alternate on State HS Swim team for a relay. One of the swimmers is sick so the alternate is in. Swim meet in Friday, in Lexington, with other sports state championships. Think I can find a hotel?

I'm both proud of her and ticked at team on last minute stuff. Had I known she was an alternate, I could have already booked a room and cancelled it.

I'm cautiously optimistic about it. I think Ford could do OK with it, but they need to come up with a story that has Indy hand over his adventures to someone younger to continue the story in another movie. I'd prefer that than a "re-boot" in a few years. As long as they keep the Transformers kid and George Lucas away from it, I'm hopeful. I have respect for Lucas for giving us Star Wars, but his ability to tell a good story stopped when he made Howard the Duck.

Range of emotions there.
Congrats to your DD. And sucks to be you.

Happy St. Patty's Day to all. Would be nice to be at Raglan Road today.

Watching Mike and Mike talk about the tourney and they are trashing most of the teams I picked. Fighting the urge to change my bracket. Every time I make changes after filling out the bracket, it doesn't work well. So far only changed one second round game.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Today is the one day of the year that my Top O the Mornin makes sense :D First St Pats in a few years that we aren't at WDW or DL to celebrate though DD is keeping the family streak alive as she is at DL. She is taking her spring break out in San Diego with her future Navy husband and she will be spending most of the summer out there as well. Dear old, or dumb a$$, Dad bought the two of them annual DL passes as an early Christmas gift when she went out there for fall break.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and best of luck to all in the NCAA pool.

:DCongrats to DD!! Sorry about the hotel thing.

A big second on Raglan Road! Also heard M&M this morning (always have them on while waking up & getting ready) and thought about going back in and thought better of it. May still go back in and take another look at one team though before the deadline.

I wish my bracket was locked out. Revisited one pick six times today and I will probably go back to it again before noon.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Stopped by the office to do my travel voucher and then back home on my extra week of vacation.

Will do.

Thanks and yes, it does. After all, it is still a swim meet. :lmao:

.

Absolutely. I'm not changing my bracket. I already picked UK to win, who is in the most difficult section. I really never have a good shot at these, but it was worth the 30 seconds of thought I put into it.

What a great gift. If you ever feel the need to give someone else APs, I'm willing to accept them. :lmao:

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Just finished off a "Super Food Smoothie" with spinach from one of my research trials to celebrate the day. :crazy2: This was an official recipe from the ivory tower that had nutrition information, and taste testing by school kids. I can see the kids all sitting around saying "tell them its great, and we will see how gullible they are"

Hey Nemie! I've got Miami out in the round of 16, sorry. My brackets were submitted after the first pass as usual. You realize someone who has absolutely no knowledge of college basketball always wins anyway. Hope things are well. Any plans to travel North this year? Still trying to get down to good ole FL at some point. Maybe the Celtics will play the Heat in the playoffs and give me a reason.

I don't get on here as often as I would like to make sure your day is full of sarcasm, wit and old man jokes.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Stopped by the office to do my travel voucher and then back home on my extra week of vacation.

You went into the office when you didn't need to? Extra week? Did you get even more time off this year? Are you planning to do October again this year. We are trying to decide between late August when Brent and family are there, October to do MNSSHP and F&W or just skipping and start planning 2017. So far nothing booked.

We are planning a week on the Cape this summer, but that is it for now.

DS and I are driving to Providence on Saturday to attend the round 2 NCAA game. Looks like Duke vs. Baylor if my brackets are correct. Never been to a tournament game. Sorry, I chose NC to go all the way. Am hoping that's where DS decides to apply for college, but we'll see.

I used to move my Spring Break week to my girls' spring break week and use that vacation. Now, I just take more vacation time.

As for October, we are still booked the Oct 9 week at BWV. The family wants to go to Vero Beach Resort. I was hoping for a split stay, but I think I lost that battle.

I also just went with my gut and just made the picks. One bothered me though, Duke/Baylor in the second round and I must have changed it about 6-7 times. That choice like some of my others today can be summed up this way...

Good Friday Morning Gentlemen, it is the last nice day and then a 3 days stretch of winter returning just in time for some field meetings. Looked at the tournament results to see how poorly I did. My East bracket looks good, but that is about it until Syracuse comes on and wins it all. I'm ashamed to admit I had Puke winning yesterday but I'm sure Yale can take them.

Nothing icy predicted here but it will get nasty so I'm taking this afternoon off work so I can go outside and work.
Poor use of a pretty day, I know, but I'm going to be laid up for a while starting Monday so I need to get some stuff done before it gets out of hand.

Some interesting ball games yesterday, to be sure.
Went 15 and 1 in the brackets (thought about taking Yale... didn't do it), so I'll not be complaining much.
Of course that's no indication of how it will shake out today. I could easily miss all 16.

Prayers for a successful procedure and a speedy recovery.

I usually lose any of those discussions as well. That's why the first summer vacation is on the Cape this year. Keep me updated. I think I can swing a shorter visit, even if it's just Alexandra and I.

The boy and I are headed to Providence tomorrow to see the Duke/Yale game. Was hoping for Baylor, but that was my first bracket mistake.
