DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
So I was listening to one of the Pod Casts I like, and they did a kind of cool thing. They called it the 'Tech check' and all the hosts went over what they bring to Disney and what they bring into the park vs what they leave in the room.

It got me thinking about what I need to bring, and what everyone else brings with them that are must haves.

A little busy at work, but I will post my list of things in a little bit, but what does everyone else bring along with them?
My youngest will be 4 during this summer's trip, so we'll still have the stroller, which means we carry just about everything under the sun - snacks, changes of clothes, ponchos...
Tech wise, I bring a Canon t5 with a Tamron 17-270 lens so I don't have to change it out when I want a different shot. Android phone and USB battery pack to keep it charged all day.

I was wondering if filling it half full with pebbles of something like dried beans wouldn't also cause it to move in fits and starts.
Might have to try that.
Stopped by the hardware store last night and picked up a 3/4" steel rod. I'll cut it down to the length of the bottle, add some honey to keep it all sticky and see how it goes.

Looks like you have some good ideas already. I wonder if you try changing the shape of the bottle from round to something with flat sides. I'm thinking of popsicle sticks (or cut up pieces of them) taped to the bottle to give it flat surfaces. Sort of like a hexagon or octagon in cross-section. Might have to play with the length of stick to get the bottle to roll before bringing up on the flat side again. The water or honey inside would help it "get over the hump".
The instructions were fairly vague. We can alter the outside of the bottle, but not the shape. I'm pretty sure altering anything on the outside will change the shape, right? :confused3

Another early morning guys. Yawn!!! Have to love the time change.
Good Morning CJ. I think I have a mini-Crash on my hands. Madison's 5th Grade IB project starts right after spring break. It's a 6 week research project - her topic: marine animal endangerment. Next thing I know, she'll be jetting off to Indonesia for the summer.

Morning Guys.

I think this guy stuck the landing, what do you think?

Well, he certainly hit the ground, so I'd call that a landing.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Yesterday was the definition of Monday - nothing major just several annoying things and work chaos.

Dang, you are up early. I agree with you on this time change thing, must be getting older as I don't remember it being quite the pain it is this week

Out to vote today and a stop by the accountant. Think a quick trip to Key Largo might be necessary for lunch. If you have a primary today, remember to get out and vote no matter who. If you vote for my choice, even better.

I warned you about IB.

If she needs to bounce ideas or needs suggestions, I am sure Crash would be able to help. And we have tons of pictures she can use. If you go to the next DDC, keep her away from the Pirate Princess. She might want you to book flights for Indonesia now. And I know a place where you can get certified. Just saying.

Actually found one idea that adds honey to the inside - along with a heavy steel ball. The ball will force the bottle to roll down until the honey sticks to the ball, dragging it back up the backside of the bottle. It will hang there until the honey lets it slide back down, taking the bottle with it for another half turn or so. The bottle rolls down in fits and starts, but it takes a while to make it down.

Interesting idea. I wasn't sure if putting something inside the bottle would help slow it down, or if the weight would pull it down the slope faster.

Motivation has been gone for the Las decade. Bureaucracy has done that for me. :sad1:  :sad2:

Hey, me too!:woohoo:

He'll feel that one in the morning.

Another beautiful day outside today. I get an extra bonus, spending time on campus. I'm not quite sure it is warm enough to wear those type of shorts, but I am surely appreciative. And before you start requesting pictures, know that is frowned upon by the EEO office. There was a meeting. :scared1: :lmao:

.

My oldest dd asked about that PADI certification. I told her she needed to call the local place for some info. She hasn't called. Once I made it a chore, she lost interest. :lmao:

When would it not be a good day to have lunch in Key Largo? The life of CJ.

Frowned upon doesn't mean you can't do it; it's just frowned upon. :rotfl2:

No Key Largo today. Instead voted, talked to the accountant, went to the optometrist and picked out new glasses. My eyes have gotten worse! Only a little bit and mostly just the left eye. Did have lunch Al Fresco to make up for it. Hot and sunny but with a bit of a breeze to make it bearable. Looks like summer is coming early again this year. You are warned if you are traveling south.

:rotfl2:On the EEO thing. Life of CJ and Norm! Sounds like a sitcom!

True. It's my 20th year though. I don't want to put that retirement at risk.

Driving down in about 2 more really long weeks. I've been warned and am ready to not drive home.

That sitcom might not last long. Instead of who is clean and who is not, it would be a story of who could figure out how to win the most relaxed day. However, there wouldn't be a whole lot of effort from either of us. :lmao:

Morning guys. Got a little more sleep last night, it was after 5 before I woke up. Another hot one today.

I am sure you saw the "Angry Woman on Splash Mountain" picture but as Paul Harvey used to say, "Now the rest of the story."

The husband is not Dis Dad material.

Plus one would live in a trailer out in the yard and the other has a house. Could be some interesting storylines though.

Top O the Mornin Dads! This day in Disney history The Absent-Minded Professor was released in 1961.

Also, if you didn't hear, a new Indiana Jones movie in 2019 with Harrison Ford - what in a wheel chair?

Saw that as well and thought the same thing, not a DISDad............................

Raiders of the Lost AARP

They also just announced who will play Ford's love interest in Indy 5:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm somewhat skeptical after The Crystal Skull That Shall Not Be Named, but I have to admit, Ford showed me something in the last Star Wars movie. That was the first time he'd been awake in a movie for 20 years.

Happy Wednesday. I drove up to Louisville to visit my dad. His 84th birthday is next week, and I took him some coconut filled chocolate candy on Spring Break 1 Staycation. Nothing sitcom worthy, but a good visit.

Plus one would live in a trailer out in the yard and the other has a house. Could be some interesting storylines though.

Well, you don't have to live in a trailer in your own front yard, but that is nice of you to offer. :lmao:
