DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
'Morning all...
Tumbleweeds are rolling down the aisles in the office.
glad I'm out of here at noon (of course being independently wealthy would be better, but I'll just have to settle for now).

It always seems to work that way, doesn't it?

I hope the back isn't suffering any ill effects.
You can always count on something going awry regularly with an older house.
Just wish it wasn't quite so predictably regular about it.

I was moving a bit slower for a day or two after spending the day crammed up under the sink but It's eased off a bit now. The problem is that I just can't put as much effort into anything anymore with out having to stop midway.
Still not being able to really feel my fingertips is frustrating beyond reason too.
Worse, this may be the new normal.

Half days? Lucky.

I work full days through Wednesday, then off the rest of the week.
I had nearly a week of left over vacation time that I had to find a way to use or lose.
I'd rather have a more fixable work schedule where I could have used it all up before now and in the spots on the calendar where I wanted instead of the leftover spots where they'll consent to allow it. Out of 52 weeks in a year I'm only allowed to even consider about 20 and half of those require cajoling and promises of working some while I'm off before they'll be considered.

I'll be here as usual. That may not be good news.
Of course it's good...
We count on you being around here pretty regular.

Sweet! Hope you get the chance to rest up and keep healing.
Rest? What's that?
It's like every thing else, you got'a use the time off to do the work you can't do while you're working.
I've got a ton of honey-dos to knock out before we start having our various family gatherings.
This Christmas thing is just about more work that its worth (well... the social side of it at least).

Cool. We're going to try and see it as a family on Thursday. Hopefully I can avoid spoilers until then.
We've got tickets reserved for Thursday as well.
So far everyone has been real good about not giving stuff away, but I am glad to hear such a consensus amongst all us geeks on it being worth the wait.

Nice...
That hand sure beats my two pair.

Prayers that you progress and those finger tips improve. Enjoy the movie - well worth the wait

Morning gents,

Made an early morning run to Publix for some last minute things and they had chestnuts for sale. Haven't had them for years so I bought a pack. Wonder how many I will actually eat. Last final for the kid starts in about half an hour, she gets into town about midnight.

Um...yeah??? Is it really that hard to get into in some places?

We went to the 6:30 show on a Monday and it was less than half full. Still a pretty big crowd for that particular time, but definitely not hard to get in.

The movie was awesome, by the way!

I started looking for tickets last night and could get them at a number of dates and times. Thinking about maybe seeing it early afternoon on the 26th.

That will work. You have to be awake before you start playing with the turbo frier.

Well, the visit is over and went better than expected. Back to swim practice and holiday routine.

Well, that is good news at least. It is always a plus when you can say, no one was hurt of maimed at this family gathering.

Tell me about it. My house was built in 1930 and there are few houses in the county that are older and still standing. Ignored stuff for a while and now my life revolves around getting things fixed.

Hang in there. Do what you can when you can.

I don't really know. I do know that some of my friends have purchased tickets weeks in advance.

Happy belated birthday to DD!

Thanks! I'll pass that along.

Streets are getting better now after our snow dump of a few days ago.
Good news is there's another major dump on its way.
Hooray for shoveling!

We did get our tickets in advance. DW went in a little before 3pm to get a gift card for the kids' babysitter and she got tickets for DS and I while she was there. There was really no need for it though. The show scheduled to start at 6:30 and DS and I walked into the theater at probably about 6:32 with plenty of choices for places to sit.

Morning Guys.

Just did our gift opening, a bit more subdued than usual but the big gifts come in the form of warm weather and beaches.

Few errands to take care of today and off tomorrow.

Just did a touring plan for the first day I arrived. First time I used it. It was a bit different than I would have done but after moving a couple of things around, I was satisfied with it. Better yet, so was their computer. Trying their room request thing next so we will see where that gets me. Starting to see the trip come into focus.

You are allowed.

Feel free to put your feet up and enjoy yourself.

The Pirate Princess arrived late last night or more accurately early this morning. Fying out of Newark, the flight was naturally delayed. This time it was an hour so she landed at 12:55. She is headed to the dentist and afterward we are decorating the tree.

Happy Christmas Eve, Eve.

I guess I forgot to mention that I was also drinking that coffee at POP.

Heading out to EPCOT now. Have a great night guys

Sneaky. Well done. We all know you had a better night yesterday and will have an even better day today than any of us will. Have a blast.

Merry Christmas Eve, Eve Dads and all the best for a great Holiday to you and yours. We are looking at severe weather today including potential tornadoes and looks like it goes up to Norm's neck of the woods as well as up to Indy. Not a very good way to start the season so everyone under these warnings stay safe.

Glad she made it home safe and enjoy the time with her back home. At least for the first 3 or 4 days if you are like us with our DD :-)

Happy Wednesday all. Going to run to the store this AM for last minute stocking stuffer gifts and some food items. I'm looking forward to tennis tonite and get in some exercise.

Sorry to hear about the snow shoveling, although it was the excuse I needed to go outside and exercise. If you ever see my running outside, you better run as well, because it means something is chasing me. :lmao:

You stay safe as well. I looked on the map and it looks like the worst of it will be south of us, as long as there is no change in wind patterns.

Ah nature. Delays are part of its charm, no?
Glad she made it home safely.

Yikes! Stay safe people.
I'm gonna have to stop griping about the snow.

<off to shovel... again... in a sec.>

Sorry to hear about the snow shoveling, although it was the excuse I needed to go outside and exercise.

And that's why I don't hire someone (too cheap actually) or buy a snow blower (too expensive actually). It's so I can get some exercise.

If you ever see my running outside, you better run as well, because it means something is chasing me. :lmao:

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

60 degree weather, severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado watch till 9pm... Where's the snow??

Getting ready to leave work in about an hour... I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. Not sure if I'll be checking in here much over the next few days.

Yes, we got hit hard here earlier. Lots of rain, lightening, & thunder, but no tornados. You stay safe as well.
