DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Alright all of you DDCC5 goers. Time has come to get our first headcount of the first bbq held in the house of the mouse. As many if not all of you know we will be hosting a BBQ meet and greet during the DDCC. This event will be kicking off on Thurs Jan 5th (4pm ish) at the party resort of SSSR . This will be one of the highlight meets of the trip hosted by the Magical chefs of the party room and some awesome others .Was planning on getting initial head count in Nov but we are close enough. We would like to get a pretty close number on how many will be attending so we can set menu and start out our planning process. This will take a little bit of organization since it will be taking place at one of the bbq pavilions at a resort. This event will rival any dinner that Disney can offer ( well maybe lol) Once we have our original list our planners will get to work. This event is open to all dads and family members. We are dads and could not be dads without our families.I will be cross posting in all of our club houses but would like to keep our list here in FB as it will be easier here. Please post here if you will be attending and how many will be in your party.

Man, I am really disappointed that I will not make this. I keep saying, "Next year" and it never happens. Going to make it one of these days!

I've never seen a football game, but I did see the massive stadium at Texas A&M and was impressed. I'm intrigued by the atmosphere and rituals of US college football. I probably won't ever see a game in person, but it would be fun.

There is truly a different atmosphere around the US college football. We tend to get a little crazy

It was a good day yesterday. Gators won handily, while Tenn. Miami and FSU lost. Had a good time vegging in front of the TV while munching on snacks.
Tenn is killing me this year. Came into the season with much promise and have failed in so many ways. 20+ injuries doesn't help either. The bench is only so deep. Hard to believe FL is going to the SEC championship this year.

Nothing like college football in the South. Puts the NFL to shame. You have to tailgate and take in the sights and smells (mostly Bourbon and grilling meat). For the Florida/Georgia game RVs started arriving Wednesday for a Saturday afternoon game.
Before getting married, several guys gathered at my house every Saturday. Meets, beer and bourbon from the start of ESPN GameDay until the West Coast games went off. Long fun days.

You realize you are saying that to a British soccer fan, right?
Yeah, check us out covering ourselves in glory against Chelsea on Wednesday night. London derbies still get a little bit tasty. It's nothing like the 80s when I was a kid but it can still go off. There is still a bedrock of fighting, which is amplified by the history of West Ham as we were one of the tougher teams. And that was without Frodo pretending to be a hooligan in Green St. At least now you can avoid trouble, before it was just everywhere.

Got some catching up to do. Wedding was nice, always good to see family ya ain't seen in a bit. Cubs last two games not so nice. Hope all are having a nice weekend.
GO CUBS!

Happy Sunday. Sponsored my godson at his confirmation this morning, ate lunch at the church, back home to bake bread, and now watching football.

I haven't been to Be Our Guest. The theming is fantastic, but I've read mixed reviews on the food. I would still like to try it sometime though. You'll have to tell us what you think of it in March.
.

It was ok. The theming is what makes the place, and worth a trip to see it. As for the food, just average. My favorite TS restaurant at MK is the Plaza, and that's just burgers. Crystal Palace is good buffet though, but I want to sit and rest.

:D
Au Contraire, my good man. Check my Facebook page, and see what I am eating. I believe you will see me not only eating the aforementioned frosty Pineapple based treat, but you will pick up one in reserve, awaiting to join his brave compatriot in my digestive system.

My issue is that Paris does a fake one, that isn't actually Dole Whip, its like vanilla ice cream with pineapple juice in it.
I'll try and get a photo today.
So there.

Ok, that makes more sense. I lost your meaning in the English to American translation.

Morning gents.
It's wayyyyy too early for anything more than that.

Just because you work all the time.

Morning Guys, welcome to Sunday.

Looks like I've put off putting the deck furniture away as long as I can. I guess I should do that today.

Sure, why don't you miss all the football games and go dress shopping too? :lmao:

Sadly, I'm with you. I can't afford an extra Disney vacation, and not sure I want to go it without DW or the girls. So, the closest opportunity for me will be another 6 years when youngest dd is out of high school.

I did that last week. It's a necessary evil of our Canadian winters.

I like your thinking on both. Did the Plaza last trip and it was unexpectedly good, as long as you go into expecting decent burgers/sandwiches. I liked Crystal Palace too, but I agree it's not much of a relaxing meal.

We've eaten at Crystal Palace pretty much every trip but one. Mostly breakfasts but have done lunch and dinner as well. I got hit by a piece of flying glass from a broken plate the night we had dinner there. I think the manager checked three times to see if I was OK. I should have worked it for a free night in the Castle.

Uh-oh. Looks like the Cubs are down 0-1 early.

Had it done in plenty of time to watch football.

Glad you got your dress shopping done in time to watch football. :lmao:

We had real good ice cream shakes at the Plaza, served in the glass with extra in the metal tin. I think it's just Edy's ice cream, but it was so good and so cold. I've also fed the girls jumbo ice cream cookie sandwiches for dinner at the parlor next to the Plaza.

Its tight, I'm not feeling it for the Cubs.

I am slowly working on the Marathon angle. This may look do-able in 2018....As we may try and take the kids up North for skiing in the week after, as they will be 7 and 5.

Careful over there, I hear there is an American running around the streets of Soho.

Hope all had a great weekend. Londontime - sorry your trip is over, Norm good to hear weather is giving you an extended tennis season, Carl wish I was joining DDCC but the timing does not work that early in January for me unless I work through Christmas holidays. Oh, and for those that wondered who my team in the WS is ????????

9 down 2 to go!

Nice temps for the end of October.

We found that when we did the TS dining plan we spent more time planning things around where we were eating rather than what we wanted to do in the parks. This will be the first time for us trying Be Our Guest, DW and I have been to Raglan Rd once before.
We have started to limit TS some as well but still enjoy one nice sit down each day or 2 every 3 days.
Hi Everybody,

Formally requesting to join the club! I'm a new dad and I would love to meet some people just like me!

Congrats!

Done that before as well - nothing wrong with that. Have also sent a couple of us off to get whatever they want and all meet back in one place for our own smorgasbord (turkey leg, hotdogs, churros, buffet)
