DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning gents. Beautiful morning, but...
too darned cold to get the bike out.
2C/35F. I can do it at that temp... but just didn't feel like it with my back being sore still.

Long day ahead, but some should be interesting.
DD15 is in grade 10 this year. Last year she auditioned for and won a spot in the Senior Provincial Honour Band, this year she did the same with the Juniour Honour Band. She (they) has her concert tonight.
So work, concert, work.
I like the middle part the best.

Was supposed to have a yard sale this morning... cold and wet though. Now I'm off to convert a closet to a reading nook for DD. Here's hoping for true walls :genie:

Evening Gents,

Another season has come to an end - JV high school volleyball ended this afternoon with DS and his team-mates beating their cross-town rival to win the Provincial banner for the second year in a row. It capped a second straight season of not dropping a match.

So now we are down to being a one sport family again with just basketball on the go. Practice tomorrow and heading for Boston in a couple of weeks for a weekend tournament.

Going to be a quiet night tonight, having a couple of Raddlers and watching some NASCAR and the Avengers (not on the same channel). DW runs a 5K in the morning so she's taking it easy.

:woohoo: Congrats on another great season!!! :goofy:

Morning gents,

Happy Mothers Day to the Dis Moms out there. Good luck making it a special day for yours.

Last couple of days cleaning the house and getting packing stuff for her move back. Finish that and pack my crap today. Nothing much else on tap.

Have a great day everyone.

I still haven't seen the second one.
Got it queued up on Netflix, though.

The only Marvel I saw was the first Iron Man (on TV) so I guess you can say I am not a fan. From what I am reading, this is another good one. Going to make Disney a boatload of money.

Congrats do Declan. Undefeated in two years is one for the record books.

Please pass on a Happy Mothers Day to your better half! Got lots of catching up to do after traveling back and hope to do so tonight when things calm down around here just a bit.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms. Spent the day with DW and the dds driving to MIL and GMIL and went to Mass tonite. Ready for two weeks in the office of reading emails and napping.

Morning all. Only one more hour to go and my 16 hour shift is in the bag.
Then off to bed for a few hours until the puppy's barking wakes me up... hopefully after 1pm, but we'll see.

Morning Gents!

A new week is upon us, may it be a good one for everyone.

'Morning all...
Hope a good Mother's day was had by all.

My boy actually remembered to get his ma' a small something; a Minny Mouse Coffee Cup and coordinating cup stand/warmer for her office. You'd think that there were Disney addicts in my house or something. Since he was planning to stay up at school for a couple of summer semester courses, we took a pic of mom and her new trinket and sent it to him as a thank you. He replied back that it was only part of the gift. We then took my MIL out for lunch and returned home latter on to find that the boy had driven home to see his mom. Actually, it turns out the the first summer class could be done completely on-line so he was able to come home and doesn't have to go back for the other class until it starts up in June. Either way, it's win in the young'ens column; he made his momma smile.

Same here. I used to only have to worry about MY job. I could add about 5 different job titles to my name now :charac2:
Ain't that the way, ever more...
I'm picking up my fifth official added job this month. I suspect you've received the same 0% of the total saved in salaries and benies from those other dropped positions that I've received to now, right?

Not happy about the u but it is a great school for marine ecology. She will be staying at home so it saves money. And I am sure she will drive me as nuts as I do her.
Then she's headed to the right place, and less money is good.
Oh, and of course she'll drive you nuts; been doing that from day one.
Just remember to give it back with relish now that she's old enough to both deserve and deal with it.
It's the only consolation we parents get for all that work we did raisin' 'em up.

So, she's a great kid as long as she's not living at home? :lmao:
Goes without sayin'
Have you met a youn'en that didn't fit that description?
:rotfl2:

I think the same away about mine. I was hoping she would grow out of it.
No such luck

Lord, you work a ton of hours.
Compensation is a good thing though, but unfortunately I wouldn't get a single extra penny for more hours, myself.

Enough of that noise; how was the concert?
And, congrats to the girl for the work it took to make that honor.

Enjoyed the new Captain America movie today. I won't post any spoilers other than this one - Hulk isn't in it. :lmao:
I'll likely not see it any time soon, so as far as I'm concerned you can spoil away ;)

A big congrats to the whole team.
That's both impressive and a proper reward for an obvious ton of work and cooperation.
Much to be proud and pleased about there.

Thanks I worked hard driving and cheering. :lmao:
That counts!
Where would they be if all us goofy parents didn't put in the time and support they needed.

Good Morning Guys. Well, it seems like another Monday has snuck up on us. Heading in to the Red Sox game tonight for "STAR WARS" night. Not sure what festivities are planned, but DD is over the moon to find out. Of course I'm not even sure she knows there will be a baseball game going on.

DD hoop team went 4-0 over the weekend to capture their second championship of the spring. They all played pretty well and we won the final game on a foul shot with 1 second remaining.

Down 3 pounds so far since the start of the diet/training last week. Goal is around 70:eek:, That's like another little person. The good thing is that both DS and DD have climbed on board "get healthy" express so it makes it a little easier (and they get to suffer along with me:goodvibes) We'll see if DW tags along, not yet convinced judging by her dessert choice last night and then raiding my ice cream bars (similar to Mickey Bars) that we keep as a treat after every 10 pounds lost.

There would be a slight DVC discount, but that price is a sticker shock. We would go with 3 days of park tickets and just do MK during the MNSSHP. Now, I guess I can watch the Hallowishes fireworks from TOTWL until Disney starts charging for that.

Has Disney priced itself out of the market for a family of four? It's getting close for me.

Still a lot of sticker shock going on in our house. We are trying to decide if another trip is going to happen near term. It's getting close to the "well, we can afford it, but do we really want to save that much for a vacation" point for us. I'm sure that attitude may change when all the new construction is complete. Right now it just seems like the add ons and increases are starting to bring some negativity. College for DS in 2 years isn't helping either.

Huh. Not bad. Probably surprising to you as well, I'd think?

Uh, oh. That's not going to end well (emphasis on "end")
They what?!? You did say cats, right? Not monkeys?
So they made it above the bottom rung.
Not possible. Just... not.
Cats, right?

Actually worse today than yesterday. Hoping for better tomorrow.
I can't work from home, so working on a day off means going in to work.

Yup, cats!?! I'm wondering if they are some kind of scientific experiment gone wrong.:rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao: They are definitely a lot of fun though.

Prayers and pixie dust you are feeling better soon.

Ummmm... 13... going on 17 :scared: She came out of her room yesterday morning wearing some sort of outfit that magically transformed her into a much older teenage. I promptly told her to go back in there and come out with my 10 year old. She didn't listen to me.

I hear you on that one. My DD13 has continually continued to get older after repeated demands to not do so. Thankfully sports and other activities have limited the whole "boyfriend" thing that is starting to effect some of her friends. As the good father I am, every time I hear the boyfriend thing associated with her friends, I completely forbid her speaking to that friend again.:thumbsup2 Of course based on her texting she's not listening to me there either.:faint:

They will take that perk away as soon as they can figure out how to make more $ from it. I did like the MNSSHP. We stayed at the resort, swam, played pool games, and then went to the party at 4:00 PM. People started leaving and the crowd levels were low. We were able to do every ride with little wait. Either it got more popular or Disney sold more tickets, but it later started to get more crowded. But, the trade off was 8 hours in park, cool weather (night), and the best fireworks Hallowishes for a lot cheaper. Now, it's only 8 hours for $10-20 less than a regular one day park ticket?

But then spirals back to 4 year old in fighting with sister. Well, that's mine. She's 14 now, so now much older than Emma.

It's not just the increasing costs, but the fact that the parties and now as busy or busier than a normal day. A lot to spend for a parade and the fireworks.

14:eek: That's like a whole year older than DD. You'll have to send warnings on what I have to watch out for.:confused3

Another beautiful day down here. Lots of running around and not much accomplished. Did get my hair cut though.

We finally have a full 24 hours today where the rain is supposed to stay away. I've seen the sun more this morning than the last 10 days combined. Still in the 50's, but I'll take it. Huge congrats on DD getting into her choice school. You do realize that letting them back in the house may mean she stays forever.:lmao::lmao:

Wish DD luck and a great show! Congrats on making the Honour band. You Candians and your provincials. Every time I hear that it makes me laugh for some reason.

Sorry the back is still acting up. DD and I have been walking 2-3 miles every day. After almost 3 years of recovery and my knee not responding all that well I decided it's just going to be sore.

Congrats to Declan and the team!

Waiting patiently to say hello again when you are in the area.

Watched episode XII again last night with DD. For some strange reason she likes that Whiny Kylo Ren. I still hope that every time we watch it, the ending will change and Rey cuts a little deeper. Of course that would leave no need for Episode VIII so not sure why I keep hoping.

Last couple of days cleaning the house and getting packing stuff for her move back. Finish that and pack my crap today. Nothing much else on tap.

Where are you bringing your crap this time?:lmao::lmao: Good luck on the move back. I assume that you will be driving to pick up PP and driving over lots of really long and high bridges. I remember how much you love those bridges.

Morning all. Happy Monday, if that is possible. :)

Morning Gents!

A new week is upon us, may it be a good one for everyone.

:wave2:

I get to take Thursday off to bring the cats in for spaying. Pretty sure the week will turn into a lot of work after that. No way they keep those cones on their heads. Should be interesting.

Congrats the DD's team, well done.

And to you on the training. I need to pick up the pace on mine a bit, all the beer over the winter added a bit more of the winter weight than usual.

Forgot to give a shout out to DW yesterday. She ran her third 5 ever (part of the Fredericton Marathon) and posted her best time yet, 30.03. Pretty proud of her and her dedication to keep at the running she does.
