DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Happy Friday gentlemen! 4 weeks from today we leave for our cruise which I need desperately with all the work stuff going on. Big weekend for the Blackhawks as I think they need to take both games 5 & 6 as I am not sure they can pull off another game 7 road victory. Enjoy the weekend with hopefully good weather and good times!
High School, there are no sport schools around here. We've been working on the government but this province isn't known to be the most open to new ideas.

First question her mother asked him was : What are your intentions for my daughter?" :rotfl:

Here is shot of a proud Mom and Dad with the moving on to high school kid and our niece.

Well done! Congrats to both you and DW and welcome to the "outkicked his coverage" team :rotfl:
Evening, men. I am officially on vacation! I'll do some packing and prepping tomorrow and then off to Bethany Beach, DE Saturday morning. This is the annual relaxing trip. The other one is WDW. :-)

I haven't looked at the weather b\c I can't control it. I'll have my music, some beer and some puzzle books. That's all I need.
Safe travels and enjoy the down time.
Good Morning Disney Friends!

Today in Disney History:

1935:
Walt and Lillian Disney arrive in London, England at Paddington Station. Staying at Grosvenor House Hotel, they are on their honeymoon ... although they have been married for 10 years!

1973:
Disneyland Grad Nite '73 is held between 11pm-5am. For $9, guests get unlimited use of all rides and attractions.
Thank you sir and have a good weekend! How's the knee rehab goin?
Storyline - looks that that little guy may have saved an even littler guy :thumbsup2

Thanks.

Hope the games will be good this weekend, wonder if Bishop will be playing?

Pretty tight series so far, all 1 goal games.

Four consecutive nights of tennis. Feeling sore but good.

Way to go Norm, I probably won't recognize you the next time we meet up.

Did the mom have a baseball bat in her hand when she asked the question?

Good looking family there. I see the kids get their looks from their mom.

Sounds like a plan to me. Have a blast.

Good Morning Disney Friends!

Good afternoon to you my friend. How is Jodi holding up during your rehab?

Morning Guys.

Welcome to Friday!

Going to be another busy weekend up here. We are off to watch two of the FIFA Women's World Cup matches tomorrow and Sunday DS has a game of his own. Then we get to rush back home so I can play in the evening.

Hope all of you starting out on your vacations get some good weather.

Would love to see a game in person. Fun tournament so far.

Good luck. Not really a hockey fan any more but this has been a good series.

Friday afternoon thinking about the weekend. Wish I was back in Belize again...

Not my pictures but they will do.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Have a great weekend gents and GO HAWKS!

Thanks.

I know my nerves could use a 4-1 Hawks win tomorrow night. Bishop did not skate in practice today but that's to be expected and he is suppose to be game time decision again tomorrow night.
Good luck. Not really a hockey fan any more but this has been a good series.
Thank you sir.

Thank you sir and have a good weekend! How's the knee rehab goin?

Doing really well, Thank You. Starting to walk without the walker and getting off the hard drugs.

Good afternoon to you my friend. How is Jodi holding up during your rehab?

She's getting bored sitting in the waiting room at PT. On a side note, had a job interview today. They came out to the house for the interview, I think I nailed it. That made Jodi happy.

DW refuses to go see it. And I have a feeling just going by myself would be a good way to end up in the doghouse.
.

DW and oldest dd don't want to see it either. Younger dd does. So, it will just be the two of us. I'm looking forward to it.

He will play basketball and volleyball at high school. High school basketball pretty much takes over the competitive side of the sport here in grade 9. He has no plans to play soccer at high school, it would be a step down from what he is playing now.
.

I like the idea of select teams and AAU like programs, but they aren't run very good here. Our select soccer program is a joke as they won't conduct tryouts. They will take whoever signs up, and then some kids get 5 minutes of playing time. Or, they split teams and two teams go without any subs and one has all the bad players.
But, our local girls high school soccer team have won several championships (regionals & state).

Way to go Norm, I probably won't recognize you the next time we meet up.
.

Why? Do you think I'll be wearing a disguise?

Friday afternoon thinking about the weekend. Wish I was back in Belize again...

Not my pictures but they will do.
.

They are good pictures. Oldest dd wants to do a scuba thing with dolphins. I think WDW has something about diving in the aquarium at the Seas. I hope I can lose enough weight to do that.

Did you wear pants? That would be helpful.

No bat, this time.

Thanks but the little girl is not ours; she's a niece. She may get her looks from her mother but not the mother in the picture. :rotfl:

We were invited to 2 games, England vs Mexico and France vs Columbia. Based on the Tuesday games, the France game should be a good one.

I have looked at the AAU model and thought of going to their headquarters in Orlando to find out more about their setup but I always decide to use more Disney time.

Finally finished replanting sweet potatoes around 9:15 tonight. Almost felt like a real farmer working by the headlights. Thankfully I'm not though. I still get a paycheck if there is a crop failure. I really like the work, but I am too risk averse to be a farmer. Now if I was a multi-millionaire, I would farm until I went broke. That, or work in the Land at EPCOT and commute from Golden Oak.

Never been on a cruise but maybe someday. Can't believe it is still hockey season but I haven't paid much attention since leaving the snow belt.

Not my pictures but they will do.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Looks great and as long as I can look at it through a window in an aquarium I am good. I would be fine being at sea on top of the water, but don't have any desire to go under it.

Doing really well, Thank You. Starting to walk without the walker and getting off the hard drugs.

Congrats on the job interview. Prayers that they recognize what an asset you would be. Glad to hear rehab is going well also.

... Oldest dd wants to do a scuba thing with dolphins. I think WDW has something about diving in the aquarium at the Seas. I hope I can lose enough weight to do that. ...

Fatter is better I think. It helps you float. DD is so thin when she tries to float she just drops through the water.

When given a choice between more Disney time or less, the obvious choice is more.

I was hoping for a quiet day to clean the kitchen and do laundry, but the Japanese Beetles arrived in my hops and filbert plantings so it will be another long day spraying. It is as much work to spray a 1/4 acre as it is too spray ten by the time I get everything set up, calibrated, and cleaned. The hops are general interest here. I don't think we will ever get more than about 30 acres in the state. The bittering types can be bought cheap from the out west and the aroma types are best used in a fresh hops brew so only a once a year thing. The filberts are part of a regional project. They natives are susceptible to a disease but have big nuts, European are resistant but have little nuts. These are hybrids that we hope have the best of both, resistant and big nuts. It isn't looking too promising though as they seem to bloom too early and get the bloom frozen every year.

Afternoon gents. Stuff I needed to do today is done so I can relax and watch the World Cup.

She is a patient lady, give her my best. Good news on the interview, hope you get it.

My kid and I dove the seas twice. Really cool and easy dive. She loved interacting with the crowd. The only thing you need is a wad of cash and be a certified diver. Haven't done the dolphin encounter but thinking about doing it in October.

We were invited to 2 games, England vs Mexico and France vs Columbia. Based on the Tuesday games, the France game should be a good one.

Very cool. I think you are right, the France game could be interesting. Watching it now, I think I see you in the crowd. Are you the guy wearing the rainbow wig? Not sold on the U.S. chances. Scoring is a problem and the defense has been shaky at times. They should have lost to Sweden.

I think I would have to change my wetsuit after that. The reason we went to Belize was to see those babies. Unfortunately they did not want to come out to play.

Aquarium watching is good. Good luck getting after the bugs.

Now, just where is that tag fairy? :lmao:

And, thanks about the hops info. Always good to learn about beer.

The World cup is on my tv too! Do you have to be certified before you get there? Can you get diver certification from anywhere or is it state specific?

Wishing I was watching the World Cup. Grandkids are here so we are watching some educational show, something about archaeology, I think it's called Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Two great games in Moncton today. The 2-0 win by Columbia over France was fun to watch. France may have won the possession battle but couldn't find the back of the net. They had 21 shots with 6 on target while Columbia took 3 and scored on the 2 on net. The England/Mexico game was pretty fast paced but I would say England had the better chances.

No wig for me CJ, my section had a dress code.

DS has a game in the morning but I don't think it is being broadcast. ;)

Hate to see such an intentional hand ball get missed though that effected the outcome of that game. Not really sure how both the AR & ref missed that one. A red card and PK probably would have resulted in 1-1 at that point. Then, I doubt France would have committed most of the entire team to offense at the end of the game. Or course, we have to hate Columbia because of the punch. But, it was a good game.

England did look like they outmatched Mexico, especially when those two substitutions entered the game. I'm looking forward to more soccer. They almost gave it away at the end of the game. I kept thinking if this was the equivalent of the "prevent" defense in the NFL that prevents the team from winning.

It was hard to see that handball from where we were sitting but from the crowd reaction it seemed to be pretty blatant.

Fran Kirby played excellent for England throughout the match. England did seem to become more dominant as the match went on but Mexico did press pretty hard in the added 4 minutes. England's size was a big factor as they won pretty much all the balls in the air that Mexico launched into the penalty area. We were sitting next to the tunnel leading to the locker rooms and there was a constant stream of English players headed in and out for the entire match. I guess many of them had nervous bladders. :rotfl2:
