DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Morning, Gents! Had a busy day in a neurology office yesterday, which was a new location for me. So far everything's going pretty good. Made a couple of mistakes, I've made more than a couple during my training and since, but these were mistakes that my manager found out about. They weren't huge life threatening mistakes, more procedural than anything, but big enough my manager found out. She reiterated that I'm doing an awesome job, so I took the email more as an FYI than anything. Still hated having to get that email, but we all make mistakes, and there, must learn from them. Well, gents, that's it. Have a good day and we'll chat later.

And nice when it happens like that.

It was my understanding from this that the families can be difficult to work with at times. Emotions and all. So, it sounds interesting, but I'm going to have to look into it a bit more.

Continued prayers for a speedy recovery.

Yeah, I kind of thought that that was a typo when I came up with 958 feet in the conversion.

That's awesome.

So it's a good floor to be on, huh? Could you elaborate a bit more on why it's the best floor to be on? Love to hear more. What's holding me back right now is that it's rotating days, weekends and holidays. I guess if I work a holiday I'd get paid a bit more, but I could be wrong.

Less patient turnover and complex, changing cases. Most acute care hospitals are set up on the 3 day Medicare inpatient rule for rehab days at a SNF. But, there are many other PAC options. So, patients should turnover every 3 days or less. While Behavioral Health is still acute, discharge locations & times can vary. Most units stay full, and have their pick of patients as there is more a need than beds. I like the behavior psyc floor as there are more social work issues than just medical, which is where my training is.

Every hospital has their staff rotation plans, and some change them to try to keep staff when it's an issue. My unit is going to the 4 - 10 hour days a week. Yes, that means some weekends and holidays, but it's a full time gig as opposed to part time. As an employee of the hospital, you can be considered for transfers and access their education benefit, which is usually really good.

I talked with one of the folks on behavior psyc who said next time there was an opening, they would consider me if interested.

Morning, Gents! Off to pulmonology today, was there last Thursday. Last Thursday was crazy busy as they were closed the day before, so everyone who had questions called on Thursday on top of the usual calls. They weren't closed yesterday so it'll be interesting to see how busy they are.

Sounds like a wise decision.

Thanks!
He seems to be doing well so far. Bringing him in for a follow up this morning.

Let him know we're all thinking of him.

What a great movie.

Thanks for more explanation. I'm going to have to call the nurse manager and talk to her about it, as I am interested. I'll have questions, so it'll be good to do. Now, I've only been doing this for 2 months, so I may not even have enough experience for her, but I'll give her a call anyways.

Horrendous. Maybe I had a bad one. But it was awful. Never again.

Hello gents,

Just finished that 2 day company software course. There's 2 days I won't get back.
I am currently waiting for the results of my assessment. I suppose I passed it, but I had a bit of trouble with some of the course material. Oh well, such is life.

I came in the office for the course. The first time in 14 months. Amazingly my mug was still where I had left it.
There were only about 10 people in the building. Normally there's probably 50 or 60. Very quiet.

Still hated having to get that email, but we all make mistakes, and there, must learn from them.
I know I've had them. I doubt there are many who haven't. Best attitude is to take it as a learning experience and move on.

I have never had White Castle.
I did recently see a show on History network that went "behind the scenes" at White Castle. All I had to say was...meh.
But I was surprised to see all the fuss over that opening. #TWSS

You can watch the Capitals v Rangers on a loop, where occasional hockey breaks out during fights, apparently.
I was always a casual hockey observer. But that nonsense makes me want to watch even less.
I've been following baseball a lot more in the last couple years.

I think there were a couple.

The question is did you wash it before you left 14 months ago?

That's funny because there has probably been more out and out brawls in baseball than hockey over the last few years.
