DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Given your schedule, you ought to be tuckered.

Good that you're at least getting some help on the bucks for those braces.
I played the reeds back in my youth and also had all that wire-work at the same time.
I didn't really effect my playing much at all, I believe she'll adjust very quickly.

Yup. Tuckered. There's a word.
I should be fine by Monday.....

Yeah, I think she's already discovering that it's going to be all right.

Morning gents. Up at 4:30am... not because I want to but because my inner clock is *$#&^ because of the midnight shift.
Had to get up at 5:30 anyway to go with DD18 to a dance competition.
Then it's an hour and a half drive to a wedding.... then a three hour wait with nothing to do until the reception.
Wife's side so I should be ready to kill myself early on....

It's gonna be a loooooong one.

This date in history...1990 Jim Henson dies at the age of 53. Imagine what his partnership with Disney would have looked like now if he lived longer.

A glimpse into the future, one year from today, the Pirate Princess will be walking across the stage to receive her diploma from Seton Hall University.

I want one of these. Churro Milkshake? Take my money please.

Put down the straight razor. Remember, there is always another Disney trip in your future.

Hope all are having a good weekend with family time.

Sitting in the family room watching the Preakness. Looks like it is going to rain on Randall. Fajitas tonight and Norm, I am dinning solo tonight. All in all, life is good.

A long 24 hour day. Drove to Louisville last night, swim meet in AM, belated Mother's Day lunch with my mom, and then back home.

A glimpse into the future, one year from today, the Pirate Princess will be walking across the stage to receive her diploma from Seton Hall University.

Dinner sounds good, along with one year and two checks for graduation.

Hard to believe that it's been 25 years. He was gone too soon.

Hard to believe that it's been 3 years. Good luck to her in the summer position and the final year next fall.

Wasn't as bad as I thought.
Yes I'm completely wiped, but still.... not too bad.

Night all.

Poured here, but it was a fast moving storm. Passed us, hit Pimlico just in time for the Preakness, good run by American Pharaoh.

I set up the PVR... Got comfy after a looong day. Pressed "Play"....
Indy 500 time trials postponed til Sunday due to rain.

Shoot.

Morning folks!

A sad day here as the cat died this morning. There were a lot of tears, but the dds seem to be doing better this afternoon.

Open bar, huh? :drinking1

Sorry... but I wasn't surprised. Considering it rained every. single. time. it finally dried up enough for me to start trying to mow the yard.

The whole qualification process this year was a cluster to say the least. I understand why they did what they did, but with the schedule and rules changing on the fly, it made it all confusing and quite odd. Based on what the TV announcers were saying yesterday during qualifications for spots 1 - 30, I'm pretty sure that they didn't even understand the changes that had been made to the qualifications process for yesterday's activity.

And I think Eddie Cheever was starting to get a little goofy by the end of the weekend. Maybe trying to come up with something to say during the rain delays got to him? I don't know if you caught any of it, but there were a couple of comments that he made yesterday that cracked me up.

Talking about Simona De Silvestro... Scott Goodyear is talking about her dreams to run F-1 and how she took a year off to be a test driver in F-1. Asked Eddie about his F-1 experience and how it must have been a thrill for her to drive those cars on those world famous tracks. Eddie's comment: I'm glad she's back. Being a test driver in F-1 puts you on the fast track to nowhere.

Another Eddie comment... talking about Bryan Clauson being a USAC dirt car driver. Bestwick and Goodyear talking about how it's nice to see him out there and how he'll be leaving after the 500 to go up to Kokomo, IN to run a midget race that evening. They talked about how it is a throwback to the days of Foyt, Unser, Rutherford, even Stewart. How guys would run those cars and show up and race at Indy. Cheever then drops the bomb that dirt track racers shouldn't be trying to race at Indy. The cars and tracks are just too different.

I don't know what happened, but Eddie turned grumpy old man in a hurry.

Sorry to hear, Norm.

'Morning all...
Just dropping in quick before getting busy.
I need to get ahead work-wise so I can zone out toward the end of the week.
The upcoming trip has already taken over the house and I'll be pretty much worthless by Wednesday afternoon.

Has it been that long? Sad.

Good that the long day went better then feared.
How'd the dance competition turn out?

Sorry to hear that. Loosing critters is generally pretty tough on a household.

Morning Dads. Gonna be an awfully long week and started off lousy with Hawks loss yesterday.

5 Days puts you on the Dream?

Sorry for you loss Norm.

Sorry to hear about this - hope the girls are ok

Sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear, Norm.

Thanks guys. Youngest dd (11) seems to be taking it hardest of all. She cried again last night before bed. They seemed better this AM, and I know it will be better over time.

:lmao: This kills me... It's actually the second time we've been at this person's wedding. First time about 30 years ago (her husband died, she remarried).
Both times... no alcohol. She's Mennonite.

The whole qualification process this year was a cluster to say the least.

I agree, but....
After all that testing and getting the cars as close to perfect.... and then just throwing it all out...
Okay, I get the frustration.
But I've always wanted the quals to be in race trim. For every race, not just the 500.
It always bugs me how someone can be miles ahead of someone, but on race day, the car sucks.

And I think Eddie Cheever was starting to get a little goofy by the end of the weekend.

He's always a little goofy.. no. A lot goofy.

Eddie's comment: I'm glad she's back. Being a test driver in F-1 puts you on the fast track to nowhere.

My comment: "Shut up Eddie."

He's a moron. Didn't like him when he came back to race either. I thought he was an arrogant #*$#&... uh, jerk.
Every time he opens his mouth, I cringe.

Good that the long day went better then feared.

Good! We got gold and good comments re: choreography.
So were happy.

Awwww... Tough at any age, but toughest on the littles I think.

True. I mean, no traffic vs. race traffic can always make a good car bad or vice versa. But it doesn't make sense to use a completely different set up for one vs. the other. I don't have a problem with trimming it out and changing settings to get a faster qual speed... but using a different aero package or having an approved higher boost level to use just for qualifying is kind of ridiculous. I don't have a problem with them scrapping that. I'm just not crazy about how they scrapped it.

And it isn't like we get to hear Tom Carnegie say "and it's a new track record" anymore so I really don't care if they're setting records like they were in the 90's.

I was never all that crazy about him. But I never really noticed this side of him in the broadcast booth before. I thought he was ok. But those comments just had me sitting there in disbelief that someone who covers the sport for a national broadcast would actually say something so strongly opinionated and hateful towards competitors who are, quite frankly, very likable individuals.

Exactly!

I don't have a problem with them scrapping that. I'm just not crazy about how they scrapped it.

I suppose. But it was becoming pretty obvious that something had to be done... and right now.
Especially after Carpenter got up into the fence like that.
Remember Dan Wheldon?

And it isn't like we get to hear Tom Carnegie say "and it's a new track record" anymore so I really don't care if they're setting records like they were in the 90's.

Yup.
