Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Sorry to hear that. I feel bad that they’re issuing warnings and taking down such posts here. I think their problem isn't that anyone is selling anything so much as it’s driving the conversations away from the community board. They’re losing their traffic which is the same as losing customers in their monetizing model. Since I’m currently booked on the same cruise as you, I’m part of the same thread you’re talking about. It’s been open since Mach of this year yet has only 77 total posts right now. The last several cruise threads I’ve been part of had conversations spread across thousands of posts by this point and that is what’s scaring the folks that run the boards. They see that their community is dying.

I’ve also joined the group out on the other site and for the majority of folks with the right personality; the natural extroverts who enjoy living their lives out loud, it’s a convenient and very easy environment for them to keep in touch with all their interests. But as a minority introvert, here’s where that trend disables me…

Over here I know who I’m talking to and what their connection to me is. I also know that folks who aren't taking part or aren't interested generally don’t even show up. Over there, most of the commentary on posts comes from an individual posters inner circle of closer friends and family and I’m left feeling like I’m rather intruding in their world instead of being part of a specific larger group. I read along with the groups I’m part of over there, but I feel almost compelled not to add to the conversation because of the vast array of outside folks who I’m unfamiliar with and who am pretty sure (in my mind) don’t want me interfering in their private party. It frustrates me to the point of almost giving up.

Don't get frustrated and give up Rob! It's all good...Our cruise group is shaping up to be a great group of people. Glad you are going to be there for a DisDads meet up at Sea!

Nice pictures sir. Seeing a few always brightens my day a bit.

That Mech-no-Dragon is just plain cool and the C.O.P. sign swamped by a sea of strollers strikes me as somewhat comical.
But I particularly like this one…

I can hear this poor bloke saying of the folks fussin’ just over his shoulder:

“For the love of all that’s holy, will you people give it a rest and move on…
You’re at Disney for God’s sake!”

Morning guys!

Headed off to the MK in the morning yesterday to try and bang out a bunch of rides, 7DMT was crazy, 60 minutes at rope drop. I used the time productively and scored a FP for BOG. Which was great, good, atmosphere, service, the whole thing. We found a great spot for the Parade. Awesome parade and the dragon is awesome.

We hit Epcot for some more F&W action but first SE and Soarin. Drink, eat, drink, eat, drink, drink, drink, drunk. :)
Excellent plan and execution. Thanks for sharing.

I've noticed that the posting numbers have decreased here as well. It was really cool when we got our own subforum due to frequent thread closings.
I try to post in both. although I tend to be a bit more fond of this forum.

Well, the Fall soccer season has come to an end. I really enjoyed watching my girls play and was happy to see them both improve. I'm hoping that they both play in the Spring. The oldest DD asked me to coach next season. Not sure why, I helped today and we lost 5-0

Finished up the last of the tie dye shirts tonight. I'll know how they turn out on Monday b\c they have to sit for 24 hours. 18 shirts in total were made. I'm really hoping that these last 3 come out ok. I don;t have the strength to do any more!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Tomorrow is Church then dumping the kiddos off at the in-laws (DW is working) and going to the Steelers-Colts game.

I have just about had it with the DisBoards...once the mods see this post I bet I get banned for life. When we booked our cruise several months ago for next May I formed a facebook group for the cruisers to get to know each other easier before we set sail. Now, I received a warning after all this time and the link and original post have been removed. What is the deal? We are not selling anything we are just trying to help everyone have a more enjoyable trip with friends!:headache::headache::headache:
The new policy went into effect just before our cruise. The problem, according to the DIS, was that the fish extenders couldn't be controlled by the DIS if they were being coordinated elsewhere.

Sorry to hear that. I feel bad that they’re issuing warnings and taking down such posts here. I agree that the traffic is a lot slower and that is probably the main reason the DIS started doing this.

I joined the Facebook group for our cruise and it was the same people posting all the time. Plus 95% of them were women. It seems kinda odd to me to be interacting with a bunch of women I didn't know. It wasn't like I was going to be meeting up with them on the cruise anyway, so I barely posted.

I think people are just busy... I've been away from the computer a lot and it is much easier to use my phone to post on Facebook than on the DIS. November is slow season for me so I'll probably be around here a bit more.

Hey Guys,

Have to say this is one crummy trip in the Keys. The weather has sucked. Yes, for all of you up north, it is warm but we are talking 24/7 rain since we got here. Puts a damper on anything you want to do. Sea conditions suck. 4-6 foot seas and visibility is crapola.

The worst was the Brit sliced part of his finger on a defective chair (long story) and a lot of time was wasted in Emergency Rooms. One to take the sliced part of his finger off and the other to get the bandage changed. Even if conditions were tolerable, he couldn't dive. Not the getaway I was hoping for.

Not looking for a pity party, just venting.

Internet is intermittent and will catch up on what I missed when I get back to Miami. Hope the last few days are going better for everyone else.

Morning guys !!

We. Started out our day at AK yesterday, we had some FP set up already and jumped right in. The safari was first up and was great very active animals...some a little too active. A group decided to block the road and stop the vehicle for about 10 minutes. Kinda fun to see how the driver handled it. She called in for back up but they decided to clear out before back up arrived. Next up was Everest, I went with DS this time and it was awesome as usual. Then shot over to Dinosaur, we let the kiddos go alone because we only had two FPs left because we used the others at Everest. We walked around a little and had an ice cream and it was time for our Festival of the Lion King FP. Our return time was 12:30-12:50 and the show started at 1. We got in line at 12:40 and had a line up for FP and stand by. They let us in and we were about 5 rows back. Not bad idea if waiting with little ones is an issue, but with my kids being older I would probably just wait stand by and use the FP on something else. The show is IMO the best show on property. Just plain amazing.
Next up was some pool time and then some more F&W time. We actually had my cousin and his family here at the same time, they were staying at the Swan, his kids are very young 6 and 1 so they travel very different than we do, we actually travel well together because there is no pressure from either side to travel together like a Borg collective. We meet up when we can and leave it at that. We walked around the world had a few drinks and some snacks and had some fun. We were planing on hitting 12-2am EMH but we were all a little pooped and I checked the wait times and it seemed pretty crazy still.
Off to bed to make rope drop!!

Good Sunday morning Ownage all. Younger dd's team won both tournament games today and have two more today. While her team has played well, she has not. She has had a rough season transitioning over to the select team. Either way, soccer ends today and basketball kicks up next week.

I try to post in both. although I tend to be a bit more fond of this forum.

I tend to post more here as well. I'm a frequent contributor in the BWV thread and less in the DVC forums as well.

Well, the Fall soccer season has come to an end. I really enjoyed watching my girls play and was happy to see them both improve. I'm hoping that they both play in the Spring. The oldest DD asked me to coach next season. Not sure why, I helped today and we lost 5-0
.

I got roped into coaching younger dd's basketball team. This will be the last one.

What a terrible idea. Hanging out with a group of 95% women on a cruise. :lmao:

That is true. It is way easier to post to FB from my phone, especially pictures.

Great pictures. I really enjoy FOTLK show as well. The safari ride is me of my favorite rides at WDW.

Morning guys & have a good Sunday
I had a great idea for next year's trip. FIL is taking both families (4, 6, 2) to Universal & Sea World in the summer, whenever his heinness, King BIL, decides to take his vacation. BIL plans to let us know in January sometime. My idea is to add a week at WDW following that trip for a 2 week vacation. DW's response - we might not be allowed to do so. :headache: :furious:  When does his heinness, King BIL, who mooches $20K of his mother's retirement funds, $5K from 88 year old great-grandmother, and unknown from everyone else, get appointed king? Or better yet, when does King Mooch BIL get to decide when my family goes on vacation? But, this one is on DW. She still worships the King and her family of origin. Then, we rank in there somewhere.
Sorry to hear about the family funk, not sure I get the the "allowed" -- hang in there.

Congrats to the girls on their season - not sure about wanting you to coach with the most recent result ;-) Enjoy the game

Sorry trip is not working out as planned.
Oh ya... Here's a little view of POR before the sun comes up [/IMG] [/IMG]
Sounds like a great past couple of days - keep the updates coming as they do brighten the day for those of us not there.

We had Trunk or Treat at church last night. Perfect weather!!!! I think we had 30 cars participating this year and the number of kids was more than I had seen at this event in the past. EVERYONE ran out of candy! The guy beside of us and his family did a Fozen theme, and ours was The Incredibles...well his battery died and he didn't have any jumper cables...but guess who did! Yep Mr Incredible to the rescue!:rotfl2:

Well done! I guess we know who the real Disney heroes are.

Thanks for the photos. I'm particularly fond of this one!
That flight is right up my alley. What was the Leinie seasonal? Orange Shandy?

I have a couple of bottle of the Sam Octoberfest in the fridge right now. There may be one less a little later.

I'm sorry I have to admit there was a point where I stopped "tasting" and I was just "drinking" ;)

I think I'm going to be on the hook as an assistant for hoops and minimally the same thing for Spring soccer. Seems that being a good coach isn't required. For hoops it's a Church sponsored league so as long as I am a person of faith and belong to a legitimate parish, I'm qualified.

DELICIOUS!
I had 2 Shock Top Belgian Whites and then had a Bud, Light Miller Light and a Coors Light...clearly quality of available beverages declined mightily.

I'm sorry I have to admit there was a point where I stopped "tasting" and I was just "drinking" ;)
LOL. Understood. I'm very excited for the beer flights next week.

I had a great football day. Was able to meet up with a few different friends to tailgate before the Steelers game and then got to see a highly entertaining game.

I thought Brady had a heckuva day until I witnessed Roethlisberger put up 500 yards and 6 TDs. Not sure I'll witness anything like that again.

The amusing thing is that last week the locals were calling for heads ranging from coaches to players. This week the sports shows will be full of callers talking about the team being SB contenders.
