The soldier that was murdered was a 24 year old reservist from Hamilton Ontario. His regiment was on ceremonial guard duty at the tomb of the unknown soldier this week.

The shooter was killed a gunfight with police and Parliament security .

I made it home last night around 3 am so I was out of harm's way. It was just surreal to turn on the news and see the places that I had been less than 24 hours ago be so different today. I think a couple of my colleagues were stuck in lock down at the hotel we had been staying at.

That we did. In fact I found out this morning after receiving a text from DW saying she was glad I was home today.

Evening everyone. Halfway through a week of overnight shifts, cleaning/re-organizing the shelves. Handling the disruption of sleep schedule surprisingly well. It'd been years since I've done this.

Morning Guys.

Feeling kind of numb right now. There has been a shooting this morning in Ottawa. One soldier has been shot at the War Memorial and one shooter has been killed inside the building that houses Parliament. It has thrown me for a bit of a loop as I spent yesterday all through that area in meetings. Walked by the War Memorial numerous times throughout the day and had meetings in those buildings. Reports are there may be another gunman or two.

Praying that the soldier is ok. This was the second attack on soldiers within the past couple of days. Two others were run over in Quebec at a strip mall.

Saw the news when I woke up this afternoon. Unreal, just unreal.

Got a MNSSHP question to throw out there. I see by the schedule for the parties this year it started just as September stated. Next year Labour Day falls late into September (around the 7th). What will be the odds of the parties starting before Labour Day?? Wondering if we will be able to throw in a party to the mix. My poor poor budget keeps getting bigger and bigger the more I plan.

I know parties are in Sept, but not sure when they start. One way to save a little $ is to skip one or to days of theme park tickets. The day of the MNSSHP, sleep in lat, swim at pool, and then show up to MK @ 4:00 PM. You get to stay until midnight.

Morning guys!!

Just having a coffee in my favorite rocking chair at POR.
Had a great day yesterday...who am I kidding, they are all great days here. Started out at AK, we all got on the Safari and some animals were real active like the cheetahs and the giraffes. Then DW took our younger DS on Everest my older DS is not a big coaster fan so I took him in the Pangani trail, he loves animals and is hoping to get into animal training and marine biology. So we were watching the Meerkats and then a trainer came in and was feeding them by hand on at a time. After he was done we had a chance to chat with him and DS was able to get a bunch of great info from him.

DW ending up going on twice in a row both times front row at DS request and was feeling a little green so we decided to leave and go out for lunch. Olive Garden was the choice.

A little swim time and off to Epcot for the evening. Let me just say that I wish Food and Wine was all the time, great food, great drinks and good company. After eating and drinking my way around the world it was Illuminations time. When it was over we rushed over to Soarin because it was night time EMH, the wait time was 10 minutes and we scored concourse B row 1 our favorite spot. Next was living with the land, figment, then test track, 20 minute wait.

That was it for today

This year we went to the 1st MNSSHP and it was on Monday Labor Day. I have been to a few of them and this was not the best, but it did have small crowds.
