Morning...running on 7 hours sleep in the past few days. Wee.

Been busy getting back into the swing of things, with work etc, all caught up, things look good again. Had issues since we've been home with the toilet leaking etc, finally got the upper in to fix it, only to discover last night the water pipes had a leak as well flooding into the linen closet and hallway, prompting the super back and an emergency plumber call later, and things are back to normal, aside from water damage on the floor. Don't know if the folks beneath us had issues.

Scary thing was this was not related to the other issue, and had it happened a week earlier when we were out of town for a week...:scared1: Other then floorboards/tiles being damaged, all I lost were old VHS tapes stashed away since we moved in here

And there I was feeling sorry for you that you had to return to work. Expect many PM's and texts while I am in Disney just to rub it in.
.

Bring it on.. I need to live the trip vicariously through you. In particular the 23rd, I believe. Between that and the Free Dining extension that put it EXACTLY when we would have gone, which we wanted last year, Disney seems to really rubbing salt in the wounds this year. Almost to the one year mark now, sadly, I'm excited by that.

All said though, I really had a blast at the cottage, especially with the deep discount, was so worth the money and time.:thumbsup2

Yoko ruined everything. Curse her!

yoko-ono-meme.jpg

You know, the more and more I read about the Beatles, the more I find Yoko a scapegoat. There were a lot more issues abound there. I can't see Paul in the same light I used to anymore.

Name is Jon. Been to WDW about 18 times in my 29 years of life. Now have a 5 year old and taking her to WDW this Sept for the first time. We breathe, sleep, eat disney at my house. From "Under the sea" alarm music, to Frozen fruit snacks, to one Disney movie before bed. Can't wait for her to see the real deal in Sept.

Welcome!

3 1/2 more hours of work, then it's off on a two week road trip. Starting out going through Detroit and into Canada and on to Niagara Falls where I hope to meet up with Brian and Brent. Then Cooperstown, NY for the baseball hall of fame, some hiking in Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest and singing "I'm On A Boat!" with Tim and his family in CT. Whale watching off of Rhode Island, some exploring of New Hampshire and Maine seashores, walking the Freedom Trail in Boston, then a couple of days in New York City. Then we'll head south along NJ, take the ferry into Delaware where we'll have some of the pizza that Mrs. Captain_Oblivious claims to be her favorite. (She's setting some high expectations, Mark.) Then it's off to Virginia for a little bit of time in Shenandoah National park, a day in Pittsburgh, a stop at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH, then back home.

Is anyone else exhausted just reading that? Because I'm not gonna lie, I had to take a break half way though typing it to take a nap.

After the first part, it's all uphill from there :rotfl2: Guess we'll have to set up a meeting place. At least this time I don't need to worry about roaming charges to set up a meet. :rotfl2: Likely will arrive around the same time as you, girls have a bday party to attend earlier. Niagara is nice, but a lot harder to see the backside of water, but eerily also named after the famous explorer, Dr. Albert Falls. :rotfl2:

Well, since Brian won't be there with you, maybe this time when your families meet for pizza it won't be a 2 hour wait for a table.

Have a great trip, Barry.

Just in case, I already put my name on a list. :thumbsup2

I did get tired reading that. Heading for the Old Orchard area of Maine?
No, just the very southeast - around York.

Brian and I have been chatting on Facebook. We'll probably get to town about 4ish. Still working on a place to meet.

Hello, my name is Corey and I love Disney!

Been a life long Disney fan, but have only been to WDW 1 time in 2008 for my honeymoon. Planning to take the soon to be 4 year old princess in February. Been reading and learning from the DIS boards and just discovered this Man Cave you have set up.

Anyways, the wife is pretty much left me in charge of the planning and I have been like a man possessed and I am loving the minutiae of the planning.

A little bit about me, I am a web/UI/UX developer for a private company. I also do freelance web work. I enjoy sports, good music, movies and a good dark craft beer.

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB COREY! :welcome:

You have been added to the DISDad list!:thumbsup2 Your Official Member Number is #779!

Just saw it. I'll let you guys know our ETA once I talk to the boss. I do know that we leave from the bday party as soon as its over, the only delay will be the QEW traffic mess.

I sass Randall quite often. He just repeats the same response

Glad the plumbing is done and no significant damage!

It's always nice to get away where it's quiet and you can relax. We spent a long weekend in Maine earlier this summer and it was a lot of fun.

Hey....If you pay 30 somewhat dollars to tour the falls you can easily see the backside of water. Of course it's a little more violent as it comes down a bazillion gallons a minute.:lmao::lmao:

Impressive…
As undertakings go, that’s going to be quite the haul. But it also should make for one heck of an adventure. Time my not allow it for you anymore, but I for one would certainly like to see a TR of that expedition.

Ok, so we decided to go forward with remodeling and finishing the basement. I cried a little as I wrote out that deposit check, all but assuring no Disney trip next year, no new car this year and lots of peanut butter and jelly for lunch. Job starts when we head out to Disney on the 20th so we won't be around for the demolition and framing. To be completed by mid September and plans exist for a blow out Halloween party. Your all invited! Except CJ of course. We'll post pics for him so he can feel like he was there.

Nice! Well, not so much the lack of Dis time next year and perpetual PBJ lunches, but the new digs should be more than adequate as compensation goes. Brilliant timing to be out of the house during the demo. Even more brilliant that you’ll be getting in this year’s Dis time.

Does not feel like a year has passed as we were both sending the first ones off to college. We have much less to move this time as DD & roommate rented a storage space by campus so only clothes, personal items and electronic stuff to take down which with DD is still too much. Safe travels and and the best to the boy.

The time does seem to have slipped away. We don’t have all that much move either but mostly because guys tend not to have a lot that has to go with them (aside from cloths and electronics). This time he’ll be sharing a spot off campus with three other blokes in the school of music. There’s an apartment complex just a quarter mile off property that specializes in dealing with the students. The building themselves are built a bit like dorm suites with either 2, 3 of four folks splitting each unit. It’s not much more expensive than the regular dorms and each person gets their own room and bathroom, while the four of them share the living room and a full kitchen (including washer and dryer). Should be a better situation all around.

Thanks for the well wishes and may your girl have a great year ahead of her as well.
Stay safe on the roads

Whale watching? Did I ever tell you our whale watching story?

Oh, now you can’t just leave that one laying there in the dust…
Details man, let’s hear the story.

Yikes…
Glad the damage was minor and the timing wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
Also good that it got straightened out fairly quick.

As for the VHS tapes, we’ve only just recently eradicated all the old ones we had.
When it came right down to it, there really was not very much on them worth saving or worrying about.

Was talking with Tim a bit ago and he wanted me to tell you guys he says hi.

Hi.

He said he's been real busy and will stop by when he can.

Here's a picture of how busy he is.

Year three will start two weeks from today. She now just gets on a plane with a ton of luggage. And I am sure a box will also have to be sent. And that doesn't include the rental space she is sharing with a couple of others in NJ.

Safe travels to both of yours and hoping for another successful year for all three of them.

Putting on some miles on the Family Truckster. Better get a couple of tubs of cheese balls for munchies. Sounds like a great trip and I am officially jealous.

The vision is a large family room with a television for watching movies and shows (size TBD, but BIG is a must), a separate TV for the Wii and PS4, a third in the bar....Oh, did I forget to mention the full bar we are putting in?:thumbsup2 Silly me.....A exercise and game room (with more tv's of course) and lots of new storage to keep our crap hidden. Plans are in place to pick up some Disney art while in the world for the bar and family room. Will try to take some before and after pics to post.

Baseball and basketball try outs this weekend for the kids. My softball all star game on Sunday and DW aunt is coming up from FL tonight so having a cookout with family after work today. Glad the weekend is here, but it's going to be busy.

Not that I would ever want to see it but it does sound like a cool space. May the project come in on time and under budget.

Don't mix those drinks up!

Soda spitting on the keyboard funny.

Ya' mean Like this…

At least his momma taught him to share.

Then Cooperstown, NY for the baseball hall of fame

Wave as you pass by Exit 37 on the NYS thruway. I'll wave back if I see you. :rotfl:

Love the HoF, I try to get down there at least once a year as it is only about an 1.5 hour drive from my house.

Safe Travels

My work week over. Time to start drinking.

Never did the roommate thing. 1 BR apartment for $235 a month while in college. Have a safe trip.

Was talking with Tim a bit ago and he wanted me to tell you guys he says hi.

He looks busy. He should use his empty beer cans to prop up the baby bottle. That way, he can really relax.

move DD back to UTC next weekend. Luv her to death but time to goooooooooooo :rotfl2: .

Glad I'm not the only one. I love my dds, but there are those days I'm ready to send them to Disney to start working early. :lmao:

They're like the founding fathers of the DISDads - it's like giving George and Abe a hard time :lmao:
.

Thanks. Not sure if I'm George or Abe. Were you referring to the presidents or Costanza and Vigoda? Either is an upgrade. :lmao:

I'm honored, but there were more pioneers.

, all I lost were old VHS tapes stashed away since we moved in here. :rotfl2:

Was your sex tape with Paris Hilton in that batch? She might be available for a re-filming. :lmao:

I am an amateur BBQer, so if you all don't mind coming up to NY I can throw a few pork shoulders, a brisket and some ribs on the smoker to pay my dues. I'm sure DW wouldn't mind :thumbsup2

Be careful with those type of offers. I haven't felt my ribs in years and can eat even more than that. Cool to hear you enjoy the BBQ. We have some good local places here.

Is anyone else exhausted just reading that? Because I'm not gonna lie, I had to take a break half way though typing it to take a nap.

So, you too will need a vacation after your vacation?

Ok, so we decided to go forward with remodeling and finishing the basement. For that type of money, you could have had me do it for a lot cheaper. Of course, the work wouldn't have done and it would look terrible. But, other than that .....:sad2: :lmao:

hmm, another possibility depending on the size of the room would maybe be a projector onto the wall rather than an actual TV? a projector with surround sound makes a nice home theater/Gameing lounge.. im trying to find a cheap used projector to hook up for my child so he can stop using my laptop to watch his kids shows on, and so he will actually stay in his room in the mornings and let me nap!

heading to the local fair again today with DW's mom. then again tomorrow early for the pretty baby contest to see if he can win for the 4h year in a row or not. (not sure if i have already said this here before or not..) this year he has a secret weapon. he recently learned to do a wink while he tilts his head sideways and gives a thumbs up. its cute. lol. then after the baby contest is DW's family reunion where i will eat my weight in sweet corn. that family is farmers. he has a few rows of sweet corn growing every year and this year has been really good for the corn, his was averaging 7 feet on july 4th

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Oh, now you can’t just leave that one laying there in the dust…
Details man, let’s hear the story.

Well, it's part of a larger story that would have made for an incredible Trip Report. I would have called it something like National Lampoon's New England Vacation. Basically, anything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong.

Anyway, when we got to Bar Harbor, ME to visit Acadia National Park, we signed up to go whale watching. It was the only thing my wife had asked to do on the entire trip, and being an amazing husband, I made sure it would happen. When we piled onto the boat, the captain made an announcement warning us that the waves were choppy and they were seeing 3' groundswells on the open ocean.

My wife and I are landlubbers. We wouldn't know what a groundswell was if it smacked us upside the head and stole our wallets. Besides, this is the only thing she wanted to do, so we're not bailing now.

We get out into the open ocean and are immediately tossed around like Bobby Knight's folding chairs. This goes on for a good hour or so. The boat turns into a floating M*A*S*H unit, with people losing their lunch all over the place. Finally, after forever, the captain spots some whales.

So they stop the boat. We're still being tossed by waves. Did I mention it was summer? And very hot for New England? 90 degrees? Now the sun is beating down on us. Not only that, but the captain wants to make sure everyone on board gets to see the whales. So they start spinning the boat around.

I tossed my cookies. And my wife was jealous.

I can vouch for the saying that there are 2 stages of seasickness. In the first stage, you're afraid you're going to die. In the second, you're afraid you won't.

Once we saw the whales, the boat changed course. Not to head back to land. We headed out to sea for another hour to see puffins. They looked like little black specks on a rock. Finally, after a 3-hour tour (a 3-hour tour), we made it back to shore. I literally kissed the ground.

Have fun whale-watching, Barry!:thumbsup2

They're like the founding fathers of the DISDads - it's like giving George and Abe a hard time :lmao:

Founding fathers? More like the founding creepy uncles. Or maybe the founding wacky neighbors. Yeah, that's it. The wacky neighbors...
