Government pays for everything including meals. The athletes and coaches all stay in the Athlete's Village similar to the Olympics but we have to stay off-site.

His DD is running the 5k with us and I'll be in a funny costume so not the race to be competitive
I'm sure you easily walk 5k on park days, I know there's stops and stuff, during the US trip I calculated, we walked 8 miles in the parks that day
At the games last summer, all the provincial and territorial mission staffs took every room in the hotel except one. For some reason the hotel kept renting out the room. As you get near the end of the games and the 15 hour days, things can get a little crazy in that hotel, much to the chagrin of he person who kept renting that room.

When we were at VBR, the CM was trying to double rent beach chairs and umbrellas. Not sure how crazy it was, but good scheme.
