Here's a candidate for bad idea of the day for ya...

I've seen plenty of pictures like this on the Farm ---- Ups page on Facebook, but it was pretty awesome to be able to see this one in person. It was a neighbor who had some idiot working for him. Apparently he thought because he had big tires he could cross the ditch there instead of driving 100 feet out of the way to cross the bridge on the road where this picture was taken from...
I think he stopped because that chair was in the way.** Bad Idea of the Day ***

I saw this on the news. If he drove an 18 wheeler through a park why did he stop at the bridge? He should of kept on trucking'!Reminds me of this story that happened just a few weeks ago here in Milwaukee...

Seems this semi truck driver was blindly following his GPS - even when it tried to send him through a park and over a pedestrian bridge.
I think he stopped because that chair was in the way.
Watching some old Cheers episodes on Netflix. Found a few that have Carla pregnant and drinking beer. Times sure have changed.

Was reading a story in ESPN about the Wisconsin-Minnesota changes to the way the Paul Bunyan Axe is presented after the game. Then I came across this paragraph...
"Wisconsin-Minnesota is the most-played rivalry in the FBS. The Paul Bunyan Axe was introduced in 1948, replacing the Slab of Bacon trophy, which mysteriously disappeared."
Barry, do you have some explaining to do? Something in your family history perhaps?

Is it worth going to or is it a tourist trap?Funny, I just took the kids to "Cheers" in Boston for lunch a couple weeks ago, and based on the decor and amount of merchandise with the TV gang on it, you wouldn't think times have changed at all!![]()
Is it worth going to or is it a tourist trap?
There's actually 2 there now...
The original one in Beacon Hill (previously called the Bull & Finch) is def worth going to. It doesn't look like the tv show, at all, but it does have the stairs going down, and has it's own kind of charm. I actually like it a lot. (Be prepared for a lot of Cheers themed menu items though).
The replica bar in Faneuil hall is a tourist trap. Food's ok though if it's not packed, which it usually isn't anymore. Wouldn't make a special trip to that one though.
Let me know if you want to hit the original up sometime. I still have CJ's credit card, so it's on me. Or him, technically.![]()

First, we won the slab last and it should be returned. Second, the Wisconsin Chickens are afraid that Minnesota has gotten the program back together and they're afraid of their sideline getting rushed at home. The rivalry's first trophy was the "Slab of Bacon", in use from 1930 to 1943. Created by R. B. Fouch of Minneapolis, it is a piece of black walnut wood with a football at the center bearing a letter that becomes "M" or "W" depending on which way the trophy is hung. The word "BACON" is carved at both ends, implying that the winner has "brought home the bacon." The trophy's tenure ended when Minnesota's 1943 victory in Minnesota led to the fans rushing the field. Wisconsin student Peg Watrous was to bring the trophy to a Minnesota representative after the game, but could not find her in the commotion, and subsequently lost track of the "bacon".[5][6] Reportedly, the trophy was sent to Minnesota's locker room, but coach George Hauser refused it, suggesting such traditions be held off until after World War II.[7] It was subsequently lost; a new trophy, "Paul Bunyan's Axe", was introduced in 1948.[7]
The trophy was lost for over 50 years. In 1992, Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez joked that "we took home the bacon, and kept it."[8] In 1994, Wisconsin intern Will Roleson found it in an old storage closet at Camp Randall Stadium. It had evidently been maintained for some time, as game scores through 1970 were painted on the back. It is now displayed at the Camp Randall Stadium football offices.[5]

On Wednesday we're taking Stretch down to the Mayo clinic for a second opinion on ear reconstruction. Its just a consult, nothing major. Otherwise nothing major going on here. Just busy.
.
Not same headaches here as it will just be the 4 of us and my IL's that followed us here. I get along with them though the 'ole guy at 82 is getting a bit grumpy / whiny but then again he is 82. Really looking forward to wrapping up Christmas decorations and spending time in my happy place, family time at home, considering the day job these days.
.
I was watching an old B movie from the 50s last week on TCM and there was a scene where the husband said he was going to give the wife the only thing she understood and then he slapped her across the face. You're right, times have changed.

And I don't really think we need to worry about Minn-e-sot-ah getting that ax. Keeping it inside the stadium is a precaution so that, should some fluke of nature allow the yellow rodents to score more points that Wisconsin, it would save the Minnesota players the embarrassment of tripping over themselves trying the cross the field.![]()
Morning guys
Good morning. I hope everyone enjoys their 3 day week. Just found out I get to come in to work on Friday.![]()
