DIS Dads DDC XXXIII: Bad Idea Factory!!!

Made it to hump day. My Pirates play in the Wild Card game tonight and I'm now 31 days out from storming the castle. Lots of intense planning and discussions amongst my travel parties! This is a very exciting time.

Still hoping that I can manage a DISDad meet up while I am there!

Also, I know a bunch of Dads are heading to WDW in the very near future. Anyone doing a TR?

Birthday coming up so I asked myself, "Self, what do you want to for your birthday?" I said to myself, "Get the HELL out of Miami!" Self answered back, "Why don't you check hotel rates in Key Largo?" "Good idea. Damn they are cheep." "Why not book it but you better make sure the Vet can take the dogs early." Called the vet and they reluctantly agreed to take the mutt I did as not want and said OK as long as the good one will be going with him. So I am out of here on the 4th and will not be back until I get back from Disney. First time out of town since the Boston/PA trip. About to go postal and I really need to get out of here.

I can't, no one else will listen to me.

UPS just delivered a package. I am not into halloween but the Pirate Princess is (like her mother) and she wanted to dress up for MNSSHP. I said fine, whatever, and let her pick out the costumes. They just got delivered. I will be Mr. Incredible (yes, typecasting) and she will Violet. Tried it on and it fits but it is hot even in the AC. Would post a pic but I look stupid in it.

I would love to do that, but we don't have a weekend free till Christmas. I most likely won't get to dive again until we do the Aquatour in December. I'm hoping to get trips lined up next year.

I checked, and my selfs decided I did not need to see anyone. We are perfectly fine in our own head, or so they say. Feel a Robin Williams skit coming along any minute.

I'm either not on the boards enough to have caught on to this phenomenon sooner, or I'm about to just pull the plugs and go live in a cave in Tora Bora.

This is just a guess (they could be targeting you based on your recent browsing habits) but most likely the behavioral/retargeting segments you were in expired (or those advertisers had reached there budget on the exchanges) and as a result you are seeing bottom of the barrel remnant ads through and exchange.

From the the looks of it I'd say the disboards sell somewhere around 20% of the ad space on their site. The rest of the inventory looks to be filled by an exchange (google ad exchange most likely based on the redirects I see) Those exchanges are usually filled with marketers that are buying users rather than a particular placement. The ad servers on other sites communicate with the exchanges as you are browsing and build out a profile of things you've done so that companies can remarket to you, or buy you based on your interests.

Being from Western PA, I've never thought of Miami as one of those places that make people say, "Man, I need to get out of this place."

Yes, we have sunshine, nice weather, nude beaches but the people in Miami are nuts. As Dave Barry once put it, we live too close to the equator and the sun fries our brain. Also it isn't like I am going to some Gulag in Siberia. Key Largo, Disney World, I am pretty lucky.

I am sure that a picture of me as Mr. Incredible will show up here eventually, so that would kill any idea of my running for President. I wanted to be a pirate but she mixed that. Spent $45 bucks on a costume that i will wear once in my life. Stupid Halloween.

Thanks, I think I will. My selfs will make sure of it since they do have my best interests in mind. I'll post the odd picture or two while away, some of them might even be incredible.

You are correct. We it is divequest. I am not sure why I called it the aquatour. We've done the surface version, and I am really looking forward to being able to actually submerge.

We had DVC points to use up so we'll be at OKW on 12/9-12/14. We're staying at B resort on the 8th and we might add another night there. I'd really like to try out discovery cove. DD is 9 and I'm kind of hoping I could use that as a way of getting her interested in snorkelling and then diving too. If 75% of the family is really into snorkelling/diving it'll be easier to book vacations around that.

Got our memory maker card in the mail yesterday and it's already linked in MDE. Now I just need to figure out how to make sure that DW, DD1 and DD2 all have PhotoPass linked to their MB. Last year I had to have photos from where my wife used her MB transferred to my account so that i could see them and use them for our PhotoPass Book (we make one for every trip.).
Tomorrow is my last day to customize our MBs. I've had them customized for MONTHS! Just waiting on that BAM moment!

My wife usually handles the Memory Maker stuff, but I'm pretty sure you don't have to do anything with your kids bands to link it. You actually take care of that after your trip. You go to the website and enter the numbers of all the magic bands (up to 10 I think). As long as someone from your group gets scanned each time they have a picture taken. You'll get the pictures. We did no pre-work on this other than linking MM to MDE and got all the pics.
