Afternoon gentlemen.

We're up to single digits!!! Below zero

The bubble burst on my unblemished coaching record, went 1 and 1 today to finish second in the tournament. The kids played great but I cause the loss in the game that we lost. It was a tight game and we had one of the terrible officials that we had yesterday. Today he even told me that he made a couple of calls against us and smiled as he told me. Unfortunately after another bad call with about a minute left, I voiced my displeasure to him and only him so he decided to give me a technical and we were only down 2 points at the time. Stupid move on my part and I told the boys after the game and told them how proud I was that they continued to fight right to the end.

Oh well, the head coach returns and I can sit down again.
That stinks. I hate those refs. When I coached the lower HS levels the home team always provided the ref. It was usually an alumnus college kid. I had to do a lot of teeth grinding to not get a card.
The highways were bad here this afternoon as well. I was very glad to get home and off the roads.

stay safe and warm guys. I know what it is going to be like down here so I can only imagine up North.
Thanks guys. The county roads and state high ways get glazed over on days like yesterday. These are the only two safe ways to travel.

Morning everyone. So I watched the Pro-Bowl.... not nearly as bad as I had been expecting. Any predictions on the super bowl?
I was hopping in and out of the game. I like the new format. Broncos by 4.
:rotfl2::rotfl2: We have snowy owls around town. They have been a little aggressive. They usually head to Canada and even further north at this time. I guess with the cold weather they figured it was OK to stop here for a while.
I haven't seen any this way lately but we usually get a few snowy owls coming through here. They are aggressive.
Thanks! But we're still waiting. Hospital has no beds open so we can't go in for induction, and DW still hasn't gone into labor. So...:confused3
The waiting is the hardest part.
Update from DW: people are now all up in arms about having to extend the school year to make up for these days. I wonder how many of these are the same ones that threw the stink about keeping schools open today.
The district is messing with all those early bird vacations to the Dells.
As far as making up the extra days, Is there really much point to it. I know there is the rule about having to have so many days of school but we all know that no actual learning will go on with the added days. they are basically just games and movies.
Jim beat me to it. Its all about the money.

Have you tried scaring her at every opportunity? It works with the hiccups.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Seriously, hoping for a bed to open or the natural way for you soon. I remember waiting, it was very stressful. Everything on hold just in case. Maybe the little one is doing it on purpose just to prove he/she has total control.

Yeah, the wait is hard. You can't make any plans, so you're just sitting around the house, hoping something will happen.

Congrats on the impending addition! My Mom would tell every pregnant woman to wash the bath tub if they wanted to induce labor....I don't have any stats on success rates but the worst that can happen is that you will have a clean bathtub. :lmao:

Seems like a win/win to me.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I'll give it a shot. I tried to get her to shovel the snow off the driveway but no dice there.

Bring her ice cream….

I thought it was castor oil. :crazy2:

Add the rest of the bathroom on to that list.

I think I need to be careful not to bite off more than I can chew.

Could you have your mom call Julie?

Mark seems like a pretty nice guy. I'd hate to see what might happen to him if he were to suggest it. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Excuse me while I whip this out.

Great movie on AMC right now.
They said you was hung!
Howdy dads. Been away for a bit gonna try and go back and catch up. But first I need a bit of help.
DD13 has decided she is going to be a vegetarian now. UGH.
CJ what kind of food did yall make when yours decided not to eat meat anymore. I have tried to talk her out of it but its not helping, I am just gonna try to keep her healthy till she grows out of it.
Around that age, my wife decided she needed a cause to live for. Thankfully she grew out of it. I now refer to her as a recovering vegetarian.

I think the line has the Broncos -3. I'd take Denver with that line. I also like the over but can't remember what it is.
In 23 years of coaching, I have exactly 1 technical foul. Welcome to the club!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
Some friends and I went on a missions trip to Poland many years ago to a basketball camp. Friend got teed up. I almost got one too.

For some reason, this post reminded me of some of the immortal words of Lt Frank Drebin:

"I'm sorry I can't be more optimistic, Doctor, but we've got a long road ahead of us. It's like having sex. It's a painstaking and arduous task that seems to go on and on forever, and just when you think things are going your way, nothing happens."

Maybe that wandering Yeti in the backyard can stand in as a midwife.

Good morning guys and remember each Monday morning we are 1 week closer to the next DIS trip. Tame weekend just hanging with the family including the inlaws. Hawks are not looking so good right now and are about to go on a 6 game western road trip.

Good way to look it.

Update from DW: people are now all up in arms about having to extend the school year to make up for these days. I wonder how many of these are the same ones that threw the stink about keeping schools open today.

Yup, can't miss pajama day at school. Vital to education.

It's all about the Benjamin's! The funding provided by state and federal government is determined using actual school days. If they were to not make them up, they would get less $$. That is also why most public schools don't want you pulling your kids for vacation. Each day missed by any student is one day closer to that lower funding threshold.

I am one that would vote for an annual curriculum. Complete it early with the kids knowing the material and being proficient, finish early. Not completed, then go late. That is what the private schools do here. They work a lot harder when in session and spend less time for a better education. Imagine that in a public setting. Let's teach children instead of just going to work for 180 days. OK, sorry it's really frustrating and I get carried away.

The main problem is that all the directors, superintendents, etc would be fired if it made sense. We spends trillions on education, none on textbooks, but billions on salaries. I wish I could have home schooled.

Happens quite a bit when you have to rely on warm temperature for snow removal like they do over here. Main road was clear but the side roads dont get much attention. Our city's plow is an F-250 with a blade on the front. Also many of the folks in Appalachia don't own good winter clothes, and many churches don't want to turn on the heat for two hours.

Being Catholic, churches are always going on Sundays. They don't turn on much heat either in order to save money.

I am a big fan of good beer (micro brews and such), but I am in no way a beer snob. I will gladly consume "regular" beer.:)

Me neither. I like the beer I like, regardless of fancy name.

Another cold weekend ending in a Monday morning. I keep telling myself 3 more weeks and I'll be headed to the Dominican.
.

Still spelling Disney funny, but you can take me with you.

Morning everyone. So I watched the Pro-Bowl.... not nearly as bad as I had been expecting. Any predictions on the super bowl?

I picked Seattle to win it earlier in the year, so can't back away now. The cold weather should work in Seattle's favor.

The kid called me yesterday, "Hack, hack, cough, cough. Imsick." She went to the Infirmary today and has some congestion in one of her lungs. They prescribed antibiotics. She is really down for the count. Twenty years old and I am still telling her to get rest, eat something and drink fluids. You would think I would grow out of being a nursemaid by now.

Good Morning Men!

Have a Good week and stay safe and warm!

Randall, how is the hip coming along?

MORNING MEN!

Another cold weekend ending in a Monday morning. I keep telling myself 3 more weeks and I'll be headed to the Dominican.

No school for the kids today, teacher education day.

DD's hoops team beat another team playing zone (don't get me started again) on Saturday 25-7...

Good luck on getting the 13th.

Canceling the cruise may save you a stomach virus. Seems those bugs are going around the cruise ships again. I'm hoping our taxes will be enough to cover the August trip expenses. Flights on points, FD and resort 50% on points so we are doing well so far.

Congrats to the kids. Good news about your FIL and hopes for your Uncle.

They are really playing up the cruise virus in Miami. NCL's corporate headquarters is here and the local news likes to do remotes from the port. They also make sure to mention it sailed from New Jersey. Willing to take my chances though.

Thanks! But we're still waiting. Hospital has no beds open so we can't go in for induction, and DW still hasn't gone into labor. So...:confused3

The Pirate Princess was late and all I can remember about dealing with the mom to be was to stay out of the way and cater to her every whim. Totally was in self defense mode. Good luck to you. Better luck to Julie and Junior/Juniorette.

It's gonna be cold. But I'll be warm, watching the game from the heated comfort of my living room.

In deference to the weather outside for most of you, I will not comment on where I will probably be watching the SB.

Stay warm and safe guys.

Wait, I thought that was you. Did you find the bourbon?:confused3

Thanks CJ. It's now looking like Wednesday. Definitely maybe.

Hang in there and keep DW comfortable and well rested going down the stretch run now.
I predict much hype across the week…
Way too many commercials during the game…
And a piss-poor excuse for a half time extravaganza.

Rumor has it that there might also be a ball game played during that same time frame, but the media won’t be dwelling much on that aspect of the show.
Well stated and totally agree with ya - heard more about the weather potentials yesterday and this morning than the game match-ups :rolleyes2

If doing it on purpose to prove who has control, pretty much let's us know the gender of this young'n - just saying :duck:

You never lose the job of being dad.

I did find the bourbon, but there was also a Yeti there. I asked him to keep an eye on you. He said he would be leaving soon because it was way too cold here.

Mark - good luck for a easy painless delivery... oh, and for DW, just get that thing out at all costs...

Afternoon guys....

See still lots of contention over school closures, what a winter. We had more fresh snow, and more deep freeze, but still no closures here yet. At least if there was a closure, we don't have to have a make-up day for it. I did feel a bit bad during drop-off though, some kids were sitting in the foyer, older kids in full snowsuits looking glum, I think an older-grade ski trip was cancelled.

Another near-sleepless night, so took a day to rest up. Think I might have DW's bug. I'm sure my boss is annoyed, seeing we are already going skeleton crew as it is...well tough, what am I supposed to do, spread it around? :rotfl2:

Hope she's back on her feet soon. There is always a risk running aroud and playing in the snow.

FIL came home from the hospital. His fever seems to be down and feeling better. Now my uncle could use some prayers. He has sclerosis (??) of the liver and had to be hospitalized to remove fluid rom his abdomen and lungs. Unfortunately, he also has prostate cancer so no chance t get on donor list for a new liver. Has to just keep treating the symptoms as they arrive and hope for the best.

Prayers heading their way. I really hope it all turns out okay.

Tell her I said to get better! :)

Randall, how is the hip coming along?

Thanks for asking, CJ. Started PT 2 weeks ago, making vast improvements. After 4/5 months of taking Percocet, I stopped taking them last week. :thumbsup2

Was not a fun week.

Better now, so Win Win! :woohoo:

No closures here either... but the kids skating and tobogganing outings have been cancelled for two weeks straight now.

As for the "bug" going around... I got it. I was off work today, and am thinking I will likely be off tomorrow as well.

Yeah, I think tomorrow's a bust too, achy and dizzy still. Skating for Amelia isn't until next week, but its at the arena outside my window. Amelia had skating at guides last week, Audrey has her very first attempt tonight with Sparks. Winter camping is still a go this weekend for them.
