MORNING MEN!
Another cold weekend ending in a Monday morning.I keep telling myself 3 more weeks and I'll be headed to the Dominican.
No school for the kids today, teacher education day.
DD's hoops team beat another team playing zone (don't get me started again) on Saturday 25-7. Good offensive output against a zone at this age. DD had 6 points and a bunch of rebounds. Was 2/3 from the foul line.Pretty proud of her improvement from the line, she has become our best foul shooter. DS ad 17 on Saturday evening in a 20 point victory. Played point guard due to our PG being away and also had 4 rebounds and 11 assists. A pretty good day.
On Sunday, he scored 10, 8 assists and 5 rebounds in a 30 point beating we took.
The other team was really big and fast and we didn't play well as a team. We do get another shot at them this Saturday so we'll prepare during the week.
FIL came home from the hospital. His fever seems to be down and feeling better. Now my uncle could use some prayers. He has sclerosis (??) of the liver and had to be hospitalized to remove fluid rom his abdomen and lungs. Unfortunately, he also has prostate cancer so no chance t get on donor list for a new liver. Has to just keep treating the symptoms as they arrive and hope for the best.
That is all, carry on and have a good week.
That does sound like bad news.
Morning guys. In case anyone was wondering, the penguins left Indians because it's too damn cold!
Howdy dads. Been away for a bit gonna try and go back and catch up. But first I need a bit of help.
DD13 has decided she is going to be a vegetarian now. UGH.
CJ what kind of food did yall make when yours decided not to eat meat anymore. I have tried to talk her out of it but its not helping, I am just gonna try to keep her healthy till she grows out of it.
The bubble burst on my unblemished coaching record, went 1 and 1 today to finish second in the tournament. The kids played great but I cause the loss in the game that we lost. It was a tight game and we had one of the terrible officials that we had yesterday. Today he even told me that he made a couple of calls against us and smiled as he told me. Unfortunately after another bad call with about a minute left, I voiced my displeasure to him and only him so he decided to give me a technical and we were only down 2 points at the time. Stupid move on my part and I told the boys after the game and told them how proud I was that they continued to fight right to the end.
Oh well, the head coach returns and I can sit down again.
We have snowy owls around town. They have been a little aggressive. They usually head to Canada and even further north at this time. I guess with the cold weather they figured it was OK to stop here for a while.
Good luck. Have her try the tofu turkey. She'll change her mind.
My SIL went through a stage where she only ate vegetarian. She always had a good mix of fruits, veggies and nuts around to balance things out. That's the best I can tell you. I'm eating meat.
In 23 years of coaching, I have exactly 1 technical foul. Welcome to the club!If it makes you feel any better, DS was on offense and driving to the hoop this weekend. He was pushed from behind and fell forward into another defender. The referee called an intentional foul on DS and gave the other team 2 shots and the ball. I asked how that was possible and he yelled at me that DS was playing like a football player.
I told him "then we are using the wrong shaped ball".
He warned me and I went and sat down. The kids thought my joke was funny. He did not.

Mark, praying your little bundle of joy comes soon!
Happens quite a bit when you have to rely on warm temperature for snow removal like they do over here. Main road was clear but the side roads dont get much attention. Our city's plow is an F-250 with a blade on the front. Also many of the folks in Appalachia don't own good winter clothes, and many churches don't want to turn on the heat for two hours.

Any predictions on the super bowl?
Nice story and for all the years of coaching and just being a parent / administrator it drove me nuts having to deal with refs that thought it was about them and / or the ones that really seem to get their jollies out of being a knot head. The bubble burst on my unblemished coaching record, went 1 and 1 today to finish second in the tournament. First time in two years I've had to call into work. The roads were too treacherous. It was not worth going in to stand around, have crappy tips and get sent home extra early.
Be safe guysThe highways were bad here this afternoon as well. I was very glad to get home and off the roads.
Nice results by the kidsMORNING MEN!

It's gonna be cold. But I'll be warm, watching the game from the heated comfort of my living room.Any predictions on the super bowl?
It would have been better if Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice actually got into the game...Morning everyone. So I watched the Pro-Bowl.... not nearly as bad as I had been expecting. Any predictions on the super bowl?
It'll happen when it happens. Thanks! But we're still waiting. Hospital has no beds open so we can't go in for induction, and DW still hasn't gone into labor. So...![]()
I can tell you for certain, that people in this part of the country are questioning whether there will even be a spring...This season has been odd though. We havent shut down schools in county even once thus far. Plenty of cold; no appreciable frozen precipitation. Given the trend, I also suspect that the spring will arrive a bit early. Well see.
Mostly about whether they can actually play the game on Sunday night if the weather isn't perfect.I predict much hype across the week
Well, that is a given. They've got this down to an art form. And a piss-poor excuse for a half time extravaganza.
Speaking of cold - school has been canceled for today and tomorrow already. The kicker is the school district initially followed their own policy and posted to their Facebook page that school was open Monday. (Policy is that they will close when the National Weather Service issues a Wind Chill Warning. There is only a Wind Chill Advisory in effect for this morning) Well, 200 some people started spewing typically Facebook/Internet vile hatred in the comments on that post, and a few hours later that post was deleted and a new one went up - school is now CLOSED on Monday. I can't fault them closing tomorrow - an actual Wind Chill Warning has been issued, but I have a feeling that today was all about bowing to the pressure of a vocal minority.
Update from DW: people are now all up in arms about having to extend the school year to make up for these days. I wonder how many of these are the same ones that threw the stink about keeping schools open today.

Same stuff going on around here. It seems ridiculous how much school is being missed due to weather. I mean, I know we went to school in worse conditions than this when I was in school. It seems that the school boards have to be extra cautious these days just to keep from getting sued by that vocal minority if anything at all were to happen.Speaking of cold - school has been canceled for today and tomorrow already. Exactly. I mean those make up days will take place after the standardized testing, and we all know that once the specific items that will be on that test are covered, nothing else matters anyway...As far as making up the extra days, Is there really much point to it. I know there is the rule about having to have so many days of school but we all know that no actual learning will go on with the added days. they are basically just games and movies.
I think the chances of these two groups of people being one and the same is running...oh, about 99.999999%.
Well, boys are now officially off for tomorrow giving them one day of school before our trip. nothing like a vacation before the vacation.
Where's mine?
Thanks! But we're still waiting. Hospital has no beds open so we can't go in for induction, and DW still hasn't gone into labor. So...![]()

We haven't had one the last few years. Went right from winter to summer.I can tell you for certain, that people in this part of the country are questioning whether there will even be a spring...![]()
They will play on Sunday night. Unless there is a freak blizzard or an ice storm.Because, you know, there was absolutely no concern about weather possibly being bad in New Jersey, in February when they scheduled the game.![]()

Congrats on the impending addition! My Mom would tell every pregnant woman to wash the bath tub if they wanted to induce labor....I don't have any stats on success rates but the worst that can happen is that you will have a clean bathtub.
Seems like a win/win to me.
