I've been working hard for at least the last two years to get the kids to be independent and do as much as they can on their own. The statement yesterday tells me I'm on the right track but it also means they're growing up too fast.

I hear ya, my DS14 asked me last night to teach him to shave! He has developed a little shadow on his upper lip so I'm assuming that's what he wants to shave.

They definitely grow up too fast!!

Good Afternoon Men!

I was sure we would be on a new thread by now. Missed vacation week here:



Sunny and 85 degrees all week with a nice breeze and warm turquoise waters. All inclusive's with no where to go means a lot of rum and beer. I have a few fuzzy hours where my memory of events is not too good.

The only negative was a 2 hour delayed flight on the way home, finally getting into Manchester around midnight and the battery in the van being dead. Yup, there I was standing in the middle of the parking lot in shorts and a sweatshirt. 10 degrees and wind chills to 0 degrees. All in all a good trip. Here is DD with her hair done and enjoying the sunshine:



Not sure what I missed, but I'll go back and scan some later. Of course no one even thought to do any of the work while I was out. Just lots of complaints because things are behind.

Happy Saturday fellas! I haven't had a whole lot of time for the boards since I started my new job at the beginning of the year. I've been putting in about 15 extra hours per week. That raise I got wasn't enough to cover that much extra time if you consider it on a per hour basis (that will be a discussion during my first review). My new boss really likes the job I'm doing so far and has already indicated that I would be a natural for his position when/if he moves up. It has been a lot to take on but I am not bored anymore and am learning a lot. All the extra hard work is going to make those vacations that much more welcomed. Speaking of vacation, we have decided our next trip to WDW will be Oct 3 or 4 - 11th. Still working out details but happy to get something on the calendar. I am strongly considering do the Tower of Terror 10 miler on 10/4. WDW Marathon Weekend also has not been ruled out yet but that is still in negotiations.

Hope all are doing well, prayers for those in need and praise for those celebrating the wins. Most of my interactions have been on FB lately but I will try to check in more often.

Congrats on the new position! I know it's late, but what can you do. Sounds like a step up and a good challenge.

I mentioned a maybe birthday trip in the beginning of October with DD. No one really said anything so I may be there around the same time. If/when we decide, I'll let you know. Maybe we can meet up.

So proud of my girls today. They won 18-16, with only five players on there. The other team had 8 players and a lot more height. Both scored 6 points each and really played well together - the best all this snow filled season. My youngest dd is over 2 years younger than my oldest, but she is almost the same height and has a chance to be a terrific player. She locked down the other team's best player, while my oldest rotated to help defend the rest of the their team.

A late congrats! I say let them have another ice cream!

So, I sit at a crossroad in my life. The wife and I have some decisions to make about the future of our family. My current enlistment is over in September, and we are looking at our options. I could reenlist again and transfer to a new duty station, or I could get out of the military after 7 1/2 years of honorable service and enter the job market. Being a man that likes to explore all of his options, I submitted for reenlistment (no obligation until I sign on the dotted line) and I have also just completed an application for a job opening at Disney as a secretary. Not the most glamorous job, but it's pretty much what I have done for the past 7 years, and reading the qualifications on the job posting, I am highly qualified. I have no idea what the starting salary would be, is that something I should ask about if they call, or is that taboo? I would need to make sure that the compensation is at least close to what I make now so that we won't have issues during our transition. I'm really excited and I hope that this blossoms into a golden opportunity.

Good luck in whichever path you choose. Disney may actually be willing to give you the salary range information. Did it mention where he secretary job was? They have several locations in addition to Florida and CA.

Saw it on FB, the Dole Whip Spiced Rum is back for the Flower and Garden Festival. And, even better, I'll be there.

No more rum here for a while. I can't even imagine how much was served last week. My liver was ready to go on strike.

When do you need to know. I would say I can answer that in June when all the snow melts. Of course all of my grass is usually brown so I may not be a good example.

From what I have seen and heard when Crash did it, it is extremely painful for the participant but peeing in your pants funny if you are an observer.

Second interview tomorrow for an interesting job. Money is good but my major concern is vacation time. They can pay me less if I get more time off. Part of me wants the job, part of me doesn't.

Rough weekend. DD the younger broke her leg in two places (monkey bars). She's immobile for the next three weeks which brings us right up to my 40th birthday-extravaganza-just me and the wife- make the AP's worth it - trip. That trip has been downgraded from a full go to questionable.

Ouch! Hope DD gets better quickly. Monkey bars have claimed many. Go and celebrate. The leg will heal the same whether you are there or not. And you can bring back a get well Disney gift for DD when you return.

Good morning. Or afternoon. Or whatever it is. I finally passed out sometime after 4:30. Conveniently enough, that is also the last time DS had any issues. I took the day off to stay home with the kids today. Just wish that DD would have let me sleep past 7:30. I'm really dragging, but somehow those 2 seem to be doing well and have way too much energy. Is it nap time yet???

Both kids puking. One on me while being rocked to sleep. Literally jumped in the shower fully clothed to start washing before throwing my clothes in the washer and finishing my shower. Just finished getting ds through round 2 while dw is lying with dd. I'm afraid to even close my eyes because he doesn't have the presence of mind to get himself to a toilet or even the bucket 1 foot away from him.

Long night ahead.

Hey guys. Hope everyone's doing well. Busy week at work so far. Had some good DDCC 3 talk today though, so that made it a little more bearable...

Pretty proud of Declan and all is his NMS team-mates, taking down undefeated Bliss Carman Middle School in the District Varsity Basketball Championship final today. It was a tight 48-47 win in a game that they never trailed.
