Hes having the time of his life, and also taking responsibility and control over it as well. Makes me proud to hear the change in his voice and demeanor; hes actually growing up (thus making it worth every penny).
As for school itself, he took to the place like a duck to water, but then again hes focusing on his core studies so its easy for him to do the hard work. As a music major, only one of his first semester classes was outside of his studies. Since he ultimately wants to make his way in performance and back that up with teaching (both tough and underpaid business to be sure), that intense focus is a good thing because making a living as either will require him to not just be good at it, but to be exceptional. To get there, we got him in the right school. If he just continues to work as hard the next three years as hes done so far
he may just make it out there.
Now since you brought him up, I get to do a bit of the proud poppa thing. This belongs in the Brag Wall thread, but
We got to go up there this past weekend and see the marching bands final performance.
They were stunning. One of the most exciting and entertaining shows Ive seen and the band geekes out there can see it here:

Dont feel obligated, but I just couldnt resist.
