University of Virginia is her first choice. She is also considering William & Mary, UNC, and VA Tech. Then there are several "safe" schools.

My wallet hurts just thinking about those first three but I don't think that I have to worry too much about UNC since they only admit about 3% of their students from out-of-state.

She briefly mentioned Washington & Lee but I found out this weekend that it is one of the top 20 most expensive colleges in the U.S. My reply to her went something like :rotfl:

Good choices. Mine briefly considered Washington $ Lee but soon dropped that idea.

Nice choices, but you still may need to worry about UNC.
They’re required by law to fill 82% of the slots with in-state students on all of the UNC campuses, but they make very sure to accept qualified out of state applicants for that other 18%. No sense in giving up the opportunity to have folks pay nearly double the tuition.

I know this to be a fact as I’m foolish enough to be payin’ it
(I’ve got reasons for doing so it, but it’s still foolish :lmao:)

Getting used to the time change. Still a bit tired. Got good news this morning. The Pirate Princess was cleared by the NCAA to compete. Like that was a big surprise. She is going to the doctor today to get her physical and she has to schedule an EKG. Her coach gave her a workout regime which she started in Paris. She is close to the goals he set but if everyone is breezing through these workouts, she is going to get creamed when they start practicing.

Best wishes to the Pirate Princess Pirate

Yah, that sounds about righ… FREE BEER!
I missed free beer!!
:furious: :lmao:
...

I popped in but it must have gotten hung up in Norm's mailbox again.

Good beer, or canadian beer?:confused3 Some of the guys around here get confused by the two... ;)
...

By definition, free beer=good beer.

Only the finest German and Belgian blond pilsners for my beer drinking friends.

Who am I kidding I can't afford that, its just Keystone.

You Dads with the college tuition stories would be scaring me if I hadn't been married for 18 years. Nothing scares me now. :rotfl2:

The town up north finally got the pool open for lessons so the kids got in. Today was the first day and they actually had open slots for the second session so SWMBO signed them up for that as well. One hour of swimming and 3 hours of Vacation Bible School a day this week and they will be tuckered out.

DD informed me when I called to ask about swimming that she wants to be an architect and DS is thinking he wants to be a lawyer. I keep pushing for electrician and plumber but I don't think they care what I want. At least DS has raised his standards above having "enough money for food for me and a cat".

I grew up on Genesee Cream Ale and Strohs so I'm not picky.

Pretty sure my share of some dole whips are in Norms mailbox as well.

I will have to double check the great book of man laws but I am sure the free beer=good beer has been covered and is approved.

Youngest dd said to watch her 1 arm push-ups. :lmao:

And I was counting on her to get an athletic scholarship for college. :faint: Better start working on that Disney College Program Application now.

Always knew you did the work of 5 men.

And only paid for 3/4 of one.

Food products don't last long in my house or my mailbox. Free beer is good beer.

In KY, if a kid goes into state foster care, they get their tuition for free, and independent living funds can be applied to housing. I told my kids that when they turn 17 and 350 days old, they may have to take a smack for the team.

Keystone? Brutal. But not as bad as the Beast.

Sorry, this one's out of focus...sorry, this one's over-exposed. Just hang with me, I'm sure we got a good one here...

Sorry Mark, I don't want to see pictures that feature the over exposed and hang.

Back from the second long weekend in a row. Not sure I can take any more. back to work to get some rest after I get through the piles on my desk.

DW said that we must return to taking a Spring Break vacation. She said it helps her get by at the office. I'm not complaining. I'm planning a Beach Club/Grand Floridean split stay next April.

Just a quick check in. It was a busy weekend with visiting potential colleges. drove over 700 miles without ever leaving the state. About 13 hours behind the wheel. (Only takes us about 12 to get to WDW) :drive::

I can do those days as well and it such a waste. As I pass I65 or I75, I start calculating how far I could be on the road to Disney had I turned that way.

Nope. She used to take a protein supplement once in a while but hasn't for a long time. As a vegetarian she needs to make sure she gets enough protein but is waiting to talk to the trainer before taking anything. ?

I know women's sports on the field are just as competitive. I just didn't know if PEDs were as prevalent on the women's side. I realize men are playing for more of a payday with pro sports.

Holiday Inn (formerly Holiday Inn Sunspree resort) at Panama City. Right on the beach. We stayed there for free on our honeymoon with my Priorityclub points, and really liked it, and we thought DS would love the kids play area they have there. This time it is going to cost substantially more though. :faint:
:

I think we might have stayed at that one. It has the main pool and then off to the left, a splash area? It was a decent hotel. There were a lot of cigarette butts on the beach, and where Disney contains their smokers, dds kept asking why there were so many.

Good beer, or canadian beer?:confused3 Some of the guys around here get confused by the two... ;)

If someone else is buying, then it doesn't matter what the beer is.

WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THIS????????

Good day gents! Was a whacko day back at work - ugh... Glad to hear / read all were safe over the Holiday weekend. Enjoyed watching the 4th of July fireworks at MK and HS online (WDW Magic) as everything closre to here was rained out.

Yep... We'll be in Chattanooga Saturday afternoon... still trying to decide what we'll do for a few hours there. Might depend how early we get there too. Sunday we'll go watch my Reds try to steal one on the road in Atlanta, and then we'll be spending 5 nights right on the beach in Panama City. :thumbsup2

Actually the aquirium is really good place plus some local watering holes right by it as it is in downtown Chat. DD going there for college at UTC so familiar with the town.

Hope everyone is well. Prayers and congratulations as needed. I'll go back and see what I missed when time allows.

Missed Randall this weekend:(. 43 days until we visit WDW:cool1:. Need to get the audit completed before then. Have friends there now posting hourly pics and making us very jealous.

Carry on.:thumbsup2

Bless you my son going through an audit :scared1:

All the best for the college search and evaluation.
There are 3 igloos in Canada now? Talk about a housing boom!

Nope, still only 2, one was a scrape and rebuild

Absolutely a great gig you have and I know you are just joking but absolutely no difference between blue and white collar as long as a folk is a hard worker :goodvibes

Happy Birthday 10dedfish

Happy birthday indeed!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!!

Evening everyone...chilling out to the best of my ability here in Sarnia. Late Saturday night I started to develop a bit of a cold, full blown out yesterday, makes for a rather uncomfortable time in this heat.

Seems like Im missing a lot of fun back at home. A good summer storm rolled through, causing flash flooding and power outages this evening. Last we heard, power was out at home, hopefully back soon before food in the fridge spoils. We are not due home till tomorrow.

Not sure I'd go that far;

BLEH...someone tried that a few years back here already....called Red Eye, cant remember who produced it, I want to say Brick Brewing....no customer would touch the stuff wisely. I refused to put it in the beers section, put it in a crappy bottom shelf corner position where the coolers were.
