Don't have any pictures at the moment, but looking pretty good. We've been getting plenty of rain and had ideal temperatures and it has absolutely rocketed up over the past week. Between yesterday morning before church and when we got home for lunch, I swear the field around our house had to have grown 6". Right now we look good, but the forecast is a little hotter and dry looking ahead to next week. Unfortunately, that's about when we'll be in the pollination stage and that's the worst possible time to see hot and dry weather.
Those are the days that my dad always said you could hear the corn growing.

Speaking of farming, my brother sent me a video yesterday of a professional forage harvester taking off a field of Peas & Oats that he sold to a huge corporate farm. They came in with a pair of John Deeres with 30 or 40 foot wide rakes, a couple of 500+ Horsepower John Deere choppers and 5 semi trailers. Had the entire field up in about 45 minutes - a job that would have taken him 2 days with the equipment he has. I'm sure you're used to that scale of equipment, but to a little family dairy farm, that's some impressive machinery.

We've got some big machines, but we aren't quite that big. Pretty impressive stuff.

I should mention that wheat harvest is in full force around here. Thankfully, we haven't grown wheat in about 10 or 12 years. A lot of guys who don't normally mess with it grew some this past year, and I think they're regretting it. The rain has made it nearly impossible to get it out and the quality is declining by the day as it sits in the field. Not to mention the fact that it is getting almost too late to plant double crop soybeans after they get it out.

We have a neighbor who didn't plant hardly any soybeans this spring. He put his bean acres in wheat last fall and planned to double crop all of them. As of now, he still has around 500 acres of wheat left to combine. He has been running it so wet that he can occasionally get up to maybe 1.8 or 2 mph without plugging the combine with all the wet straw coming in from that 40' head. :faint:

Dad went to help him over the weekend. He provided labor and another semi truck, but not a combine. We aren't putting our machine through that punishment. :rolleyes2

ETA: then again, our combine is a Deere. It would probably run circles around that New Holland, no matter how wet the stuff is.

Yep... We'll be in Chattanooga Saturday afternoon... still trying to decide what we'll do for a few hours there. Might depend how early we get there too. Sunday we'll go watch my Reds try to steal one on the road in Atlanta, and then we'll be spending 5 nights right on the beach in Panama City. :thumbsup2

Where are you all staying? On the beach? I like the Atlantic side better than gulf side, but if you're buying, I'll take a free vacation anywhere.

Don't worry, we only have 2,358 pictures to sort through. :thumbsup2:

Welcome back. Are you inviting all of us over for a good old fashioned vacatin slide show viewing?

Getting used to the time change. Still a bit tired. Got good news this morning. The Pirate Princess was cleared by the NCAA to compete. Like that was a big surprise. She is going to the doctor today to get her physical and she has to schedule an EKG. Her coach gave her a workout regime which she started in Paris. She is close to the goals he set but if everyone is breezing through these workouts, she is going to get creamed when they start practicing.

Congrats to her. Hope she makes it, or better yet, survives it. Any PEDs to worry about?

You know the normal. Couple new guys, couple birthdays, free beer for the guys who were here.

Good beer, or canadian beer?:confused3 Some of the guys around here get confused by the two... ;)

yeah, you missed us, Jodi cried all the way home.

I was bummed that we missed you guys! Timing was way off. Darn kids! ;)

Biergarten in Nov. will be extra special now though! :thumbsup2

Sorry, this one's out of focus...sorry, this one's over-exposed. Just hang with me, I'm sure we got a good one here...

Now don't tell me a state employee has so much work on his desk after a couple of weeks away that all he has time to do is wave.

I hear the shovel shed a tear when you walked in the door. Apprently he missed holding you up. :rotfl2:

Lemme guess, the over exposed one is of you on the beach. :cool1:

We don't even attempt those pictures. No sense burning a hole in a perfectly good camera lens.

I hear the shovel shed a tear when you walked in the door. Apprently he missed holding you up. :rotfl2:

Don't be silly. The government hired 5 guys to take turns holding it up while I was gone.

Good Afternoon All!

Back from the second long weekend in a row. Not sure I can take any more. back to work to get some rest after I get through the piles on my desk.

Hope everyone is well. Prayers and congratulations as needed. I'll go back and see what I missed when time allows.

Missed Randall this weekend:(. 43 days until we visit WDW:cool1:. Need to get the audit completed before then. Have friends there now posting hourly pics and making us very jealous.

Carry on.:thumbsup2

Happy belated BDay to your dad Brent!

Good gravy, why have I not found this illustrious group before now? I was eligible to join on Jan 1 of this year when my son decided he wanted out a few weeks early :cool1:

Welcome aboard. I see you have met a lot of the guys.

Welcome! I wii give you an official welcome tonight or tomorrow. I am driving home today.

Might meet Paul and Jim today. Jim I sent you a PM.

Hey Randall. Just got that today, sorry. We were away from the computer and I am still not very good with the app on my iPhone. We were actually in Boston on Saturday, hopefully we'll get another chance soon. I sent you a PM today.

Just discovered this troupe after listening to a 2010 DIS Unplugged episode

Greetings from Hubbardston Mass!

Fresh off the NE Dis Meet

Hmmmmmmm! In Boxford. Not sure I've ever heard of Habbardston. Welcome aboard!

Morning guys. Got home yesterday afternoon after a 9 1/2 plane flight. I was beat and crashed early. Feel better this morning. Time to restock the fridge and throw the laundry in the washer.

Great trip but three weeks was a long time away. Lots of memories and stories.

Glad you made it home safe. Let me know when your rested. You know......don't want to kick a man while he's down.:lmao::lmao:

Morning guys :coffee:

Joined Costco yesterday. In preparations for doubling our family size we wanted to start pricing and getting a feel for what bulk buys are good ones. Fruits and veggies were really good buys. During the summer we usually hit the farmers markets, but good to know they have some good choices.

Anyone else have experience with Costco?

We have a Costco membership. For a family of four, buying bulk doesn't work as well, but they do have some good deals you just have to look. I use it mainly for gas. Around here, they sell around 10 cents less than everywhere else.

I do buy paper goods there and it saves some good $$ as long as you have a place to keep everything. When we have dinner parties or events, we get our food there. It is really good quality for meat and such.

Just a quick check in. It was a busy weekend with visiting potential colleges. drove over 700 miles without ever leaving the state. About 13 hours behind the wheel. (Only takes us about 12 to get to WDW) :drive:

Hope everyone else here had a good weekend. :thumbsup2

Welcome back to Mark and Randall and everyone else who was traveling. :beach:

Hello to the new guys.

45 year old father of 2. DW and I are school teachers in central Mass
4th trip to WDW coming up in August. Big lover of snow and skiing

When are you going? We are heading down on August 21st and there are a few others at that time and some coming earlier in the month.

Interesting perspective... or discussion point.

I don't think any of us 700+ strong are embarrassed, uncomfortable or ashamed to say we are Disney fans... Disney is top notch entertainment, and the premier example of how ever business should be run.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Wear my DidDads shirts all the time. No embarrassment around here. Actually just about everyone we know goes either every year or every other.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2: Made me spit my water out all over the place. Thanks.

My wife's Honey Doo project for today was to move the swing set, sounds easy enough right:confused3 WRONG, if I only had to move it , it would be no problem, but now that we had a tree removed, she wanted me to switch sides for slide/fort combo, well if anyone ever tried to take a metal swing set apart, you know they use the cheapest nuts & screws known to man, they rust together so you can never get it apart, especially since the bolt was a flat head screw with nut combo:eek:

Once again it was time to whip out the air tools:cool1:, I knew the air ratchet would only spin the screws, so it was up to my never fail air cut off wheel and a pair of vice grips:confused3, since the nut was tight against the metal I could not cut it clean off, so I went with a cross cut on the nut then squeezed it like a peanut shell and they cracked right off:thumbsup2, I was kind of amazed that I didn't cut into the bars since the air cut off wheel moves faster then any electric tool, my wife came out to see how I was doing it was like 4th of July with all the sparks flying around:rotfl:

Out of all my tools this is my favorite:thumbsup2, although I would not recommend it if you have not been properly trained on how to use it, it is extremely dangerous, I've seen parts of fingers lost:scared1:, in the last 25yrs I had 2 ER visits using it:rolleyes1

I would have bought a new one. :rotfl2::rotfl2: Once everything rusts, I pretty much do some serious damage getting things apart.

Morning guys. Getting back into the routine after spending last week up in Maine. :coffee: Did I miss anything? :confused3

Apparently we both missed Randall.:rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao:

Hope your drive back was OK. We were in York and the traffic was pretty bad, even at 9PM. Good thing it's close.

Well, good morning. Bad news, it is Monday. Good news, I'll be on vacation in 6 days.

Time to coast into the vacation. Don't work too hard, they'll expect it when you get back.

Morning Guys.

I want to leave now, can someone fill in for me at work?

On my way.......wait, where do you work again?

Sorry Brent, a belated Happy Birthday.

Congrats to her. Hope she makes it, or better yet, survives it. Any PEDs to worry about?

Nope. She used to take a protein supplement once in a while but hasn't for a long time. As a vegetarian she needs to make sure she gets enough protein but is waiting to talk to the trainer before taking anything.

Any place in particular she is looking at?

Holiday Inn (formerly Holiday Inn Sunspree resort) at Panama City. Right on the beach. We stayed there for free on our honeymoon with my Priorityclub points, and really liked it, and we thought DS would love the kids play area they have there. This time it is going to cost substantially more though. :faint:

Don't be silly. The government hired 5 guys to take turns holding it up while I was gone.
Did they all get to take their hour long 15 minute break at the same time or did they have to alternate? :confused3 :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

He's in Canada. 3rd igloo on the right.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: At least it's not 95 degrees and humid.:thumbsup2 We were looking at the temps at WDW in August. Average high is 90 degrees. That's about 6 degrees cooler than here right now. I guess we don't have to worry about getting used to the temps this year.

Had a thunderstorm in York, Maine last night. There was one enormous bolt of lightning. The thunder that resulted knocked out the power instantly. It came back on a few minutes later. That may be the closest I have ever been to being struck by lightning.

Any place in particular she is looking at?

University of Virginia is her first choice. She is also considering William & Mary, UNC, and VA Tech. Then there are several "safe" schools.

My wallet hurts just thinking about those first three but I don't think that I have to worry too much about UNC since they only admit about 3% of their students from out-of-state.

She briefly mentioned Washington & Lee but I found out this weekend that it is one of the top 20 most expensive colleges in the U.S. My reply to her went something like :rotfl:
